I have to ask, Jonesey, is that all for one meal on Christmas day? Or is that to last the twelve days of Christmas?

Jonesey

Jonesey Report 22 Dec 2013 23:00

Hi Margee,

It is a list of items available for 3 Christmas day meals, lunch, tea and supper plus of course something to nibble on and drink between meals. I was going to include some smoked salmon and champagne for breakfast on Christmas morning but decided against it as did not wish to appear greedy. ;-)

Once Christmas is over of course it will be back to the usual scrag end of mutton casserole with a dumpling for lunch once every 3 days, a bowl of thin gruel with a hunk of bread on the other days and a dripping sandwich or jam butty for tea/supper.

Have a good Christmas and a happy New Year.

Good morning everyone and safe journey Sylvs. Hope you have a wonderful time. <3

A busy day yesterday what with the Carol Service and everything......... :-S

I'd better get a quick breakfast out for our Dea - she needs it with all the running around she is doing... ;-)

Bacon sizzling nicely.

Mushrooms and tomatoes grilling gently.

Sausages basting noisily.

Eggs spluttering messily

Porridge bubbling wetly.

Bread toasting brownly.

Croissants and crumpets are covered in butter and dripping all over the place. :-D

Off to get my specs fixed, pick up the sausages for Christmas Day, collect some trousers from M & S and then I can happily iron away to my heart's content.

I'm just going to post the following. I put it on the Christian thread this morning but feel it is quite okay to put it here as well..... :-)

The Kneeling Santa prayer

The sleigh was all packed and the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt by the side of his bed,
"Dear Father" he prayed, "be with me tonight.
There's so much to do and my schedule is tight.
My sack will hold toys to grant all children's wishes.
The supply will be endless, like the loaves and the fishes.
I can do all these things Lord, only through You.
I just need your blessing, then it's easy to do.
I do this to honour the birth of the One
That was sent to redeem us, your most Holy Son.
So, to all of my friends, lest Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job."
Amen.

Have a good day.... :-D

I'm still pottering around, doing nothing when I should be doing lots of things!

Was supposed to go shopping tonight after JB finishes work but thought what the heck............DONE!

It was a mare in Sainsbury's, cant imagine JB would feel like going there after a day at work. Got almost £40 off with my nectar card and the man in front of me had a voucher for a fiver off and gave it me :-D ...he had two and was only allowed to use one per shop

I got a ticket at the till for £1.74 off my next shop so I passed it to the lady behind me....she said wont you be coming back in time to spend it......you avin a laugh!

Just got the drinks shop to do tomorrow

Phoned JB and he was chuffed that I'd got it all sorted but cross at me for using my 'claw' hand to lift

Dea

Dea Report 23 Dec 2013 14:54

Is that hand of yours still poorly Ginns ???

Dea Xxx

Gee

Gee Report 23 Dec 2013 15:18

Yep Dea. The injections didn't work but I'm going back to hospital in Feb to see what they can do

Trouble is, I have to wait months between appointments :-| It was Aug last time I went

JB wants me to go private but it really goes against my principles....might have to them set aside if something isn't done soon

Dea

Dea Report 23 Dec 2013 15:43

There are times Gins when you do have to set your principles aside - 'Quality of life' is what matters here.

You have worked for what you have and, if you can afford it, go for it !!!

Depressing or what ???

I have just watched a cooking programme which showed an episode of Keith Flloyd from the 1970's and guess what ?? - He served his food up on my dinner service !!

'Eternal Beau' - I have since got rid of the casseroles and the coffee set to the charity shop but I still use the cups and the serving plate and the soup dishes and bowls !

The gravy dish 'fell of it's handle' 3 weeks ago!

I feel VERY OLD now ! :-(

Gee

Gee Report 23 Dec 2013 18:30

I remember a friends mother having those plates when I was a chabby in the 70s

They've served you well Dea!

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 23 Dec 2013 22:03

Very vintage Dea! I remember Eternal Beau but never had any. My chosen dinner service was Doulton 'Westwood' - Autumn leaves on a white background. I may have one piece of it left but would have to look.

A few years ago we bought another dinner service - plain white with a grey/silver rim. Bit of a white elephant now as we hardly use it.

More or less finished for Christmas I think...maybe some salad stuff......but that's it. For heaven's sake, the shops are closed for one day - in fact, a local shop is open on Christmas Day. I can't understand all the panic....and I bet a lot of foodstuff goes to waste in a lot of households. So, so wrong.

Have been working on my tree and chatting to friends 'over there' so will wish you all good night. Sweet dreams. See you tomorrow ~~~~
