Linds

My FF broke years ago, the fridge part thought it was a freezer and would freeze all my chilled stuff

I kept putting off getting a new one and for the last year, it's worked perfect!

Fingers crossed, touch wood an all..............

We were to get the girls at 4pm.

Just got text can we take them at 1.30pm so they can eat early :-|

J just gone with star to drop her off at F's mums.

grr why cant no 2 son stick to an arrangement. :-|

On the up side it might just meant we can meet our friends for dinner :-)

Dea enjoy the peace and quiet mine is soon to be broken ;-)

Gins it took them long enough to finish but just think no more potholes.

At least not until the gas or water men come to dig up the road ;-)

Oh Linds - I think I got confused there - I blame it on the grandchildren !!! :-S :-D

When I said in my last post 'hope you made Dinner' I was thinking that all those appointments you had on the same day and the girls coming etc was yesterday and I meant that I hoped you 'made it' to have Dinner with your friends but it is all happening today :-D :-D

Anyway, it looks like you might just manage it if they are arriving early - just make sure that you tell their parents that they have to collect them early too as you are going out !! ;-)

I am a 'Grannie' Ginns - not a 'Nana' !! - Not to worry though - I think you will be there too one day !! - I just hope I am still 'here' to see it !!! ;-) :-D :-D

I have made a very sad decision today - my almost 26 year old car has to be sent to that 'scrap yard' in the sky' !!!

I will REALLY miss it !!

Thinking of buying a Suzuki Swift ???????

Yummy breakfast......thank you

I too am a "Gran" not a Nan (DIL's Mum was already a Nan and I prefer gran anyway)

Dea your poor car you will miss it.

We did make it out to meet friends but ended up only having drinks as they were running late and couldn't meet up till 9pm.

The engineer needs to order a new mother board for fridge/freezer.

This can take up to 10 days to arrive :-|

I am not a happy bunny anything up to another 2 weeks with no fridge :-|

we are having to buy the milk, cold meat etc on a daily basis.

I was so angry I phoned the insurers and gave them hell.

They apparently give the engineers 5 days to do the 1st call out then another 21 days to do any repair :-| :-| :-|

Linda Report 16 Aug 2014 16:40

He was left in no doubt what I thought of that timescale.

I could have a new one delivered in 24 hours.

He asked if I wanted to lodge a complaint.

Doh!

I told him I wouldn't be using his company again and yes lodge a complaint.

If it is your washing machine that breaks down you can always go to a friends etc to do it but where do you store food when you don't have a working fridge?

I am still raging that any insurance company thinks that is a suitable time frame for a repair to be carried out for such an essential household item.

they don't tell you that when you take out the warranty :-P

That is appalling Linds - can you not insist that they loan you something during that time?? Have you read through your policy to see if there is any wording that you can pick up on?? I would be tempted to threaten to hire one and claim back the cost from them !

If it is going to be that long, there are places where you can hire a fridge from but I expect this would be very expensive ?? - This is one website which does it but there may be somewhere better local to you:

http://www.fridgehire.co.uk/category/domestic-fridge-freezers

Another thought would be a cool box or cool bag. - If your freezer is still functioning then you could keep a few ice packs in there and alternate them in a food bag. There are even electric cool boxes available - they seem to cost around £35 for a medium sized one. Some only work off battery (for camping and travelling) but others work of mains electric. - There are some on amazon or many other places if you google.

Better put some breakfast on now ;-)

Poached eggs on crumpets for Ginns and Full english for the rest of us !

Help yourselves......

Poached eggs on crumpets...... :-D

A cool box is a good idea, filled with ice packs and left out the back door
