Why cant you just go into a big store and buy something thesedays?

Saw something in Halfords on line and it was in stock at my local store. HID went past there today and went and had a look, spoke to the assistant who said it was cheaper on line.

So now I have to go down there myself have a look and come home and order it, what a palaver

That's really stupid Ja..x it's like they don't want your business.

When you go and look at it be cheeky and ask for it at the website price. If the assistant doesn't have tha authority ask for the manager and ask him for the web price. As we are in the middle of a credit crunch you may be lucky.

I have done this a few times, sometimes I am successful, sometimes not but you have nothing to lose.

Just for a mo I thought you were talking about birthday cakes ja...x and was wondering when Halfords had started selling them....lol

Try Toots' idea....you may be lucky!

Poor Fans.......no homemade birthday cake.....mind you, think of the size it would have to be to hold those candles.......ginormous!

jax Report 11 Jan 2011 22:11

You can reserve it on line but they may not be happy if you say you dont like it when you go to get it HID thinks it was £259 in the store but it £249 on line unless they hav'nt updated the prices as it looked like they still had the VAT @ 17.5%

I would ask for the Internet price of £249especially has it can be collected in store and they have one in stock. If the manager says no then ask if he was happy to lose a sale over £10.00 and how much better would it look on his sales figure to have a sale of £249.00 than not have a sale or if you go buy it online then the sale will show on the web sales not his store even if you collect it there.

If you don't ask you don't get. If you ask you have 2 chances either you get it at that price or you don't but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Worth a try I suppose Toots.

Just had another look and they give the price before VAT which I can get back and they still hav'nt changed it...so should it now be more anyway?

Hi all

Matt physio has the same birth date as me ............ Jan 7

But his birthday lasted twice as long as mine!

He and his family went home to NZ for Christmas ........... so birthday started in New Plymouth, then they got on the plane at 8:30 to return to Canada, landed in Vancovuer at mid-day on Jan 7 ... so he still had all afternoon and evening to continue celebrating!

he said he eventually called a halt because it had gone on for so long! :))))

Hi C

snowing hard here, started around 8:30 pm

lots and lots of very fine snow.

all depends on whether the temperature rises or falls by 1 degree or only ½ degree as to whether we get snow into the morning, or rain, or freezing rain.

yuck!

OH will have to shovel the sidewalks and garden path tomorrow morning .......... they have to be cleared by 10 am ........ new by-law brought in last spring.

off to bed

night night

Thanks again for a lovely breakfast Sylvia......... Yuuuummm !!!!!!!

That is an interesting by-law Sylvs about clearing paths and sidewalks - how does it work?

Does everyone have their own little bit they are responsible for?

What about the parts where there are no houses, or perhaps flats etc?

Does it matter how much snow there is or how much ice - does this still have to be done?

What happens if you are away? - Do you have to arrange for someone else to do it?

An interesting thing here is that if someone slips on your path or steps etc then you are not liable, but if you have attempted to clear them or treat the ice with salt or sand + grit etc., then you become liable for the person's accident !!

I know that was the case a few years ago and think it still is??
