Just read a thread about someone having another person adding a branch to their family from 'their' tree

Does it matter?

I dont get the problem, if you dont want it copying then dont make your tree public

I had my US cousin's girlfriend copy almost all of my tree.....and?

Just arrived on here

got lots of snow last night, turned to rain by 5:30 am

OH was out shovelling our sidewalks (corner house, so he's got to do 33' x 120') by 7:30am, then did the neighbour's across the street ..... Joe's in his late 80s

Rain stopped by about 9 am

still lots of snow on the ground, but temp is about 6C, so it should be melting!

I can see one of the major roads into Vancouver from my kitchen window, and it was completely clear of snow by 5:30am ............ ploughs were out as soon as snow started at about 8:30 pm

Side streets have not been ploughed, but are pretty clear now.

very true Gins
I had one recently who copied a lot off my tree mine is quite detailed compared to the others who share the same ancestors. I dont know who this person was she was'nt a direct decendant like the others. Then she came on this site asking to view my tree giving my dads sister as the connection name. I did'nt open it to her as there is nothing to see any way

I have never understood all that with their tree and my tree --

-- as in theory if I have 600 names of my family on MY tree --

-- them there are least 599 people who could truthfully call it

THEIR tree

It is impossible to have a "tree" of your own --

Unless you are a " clone" and you started life in a petrie dish

Perhaps thats where numpty s come from

jax Report 12 Jan 2011 20:51

Of course the names dont belong to anyone, but when its taken months to work out exact dob's from baptisms marriages ect to have someone copy the whole lot rather than look it up them selves it is annoying

I dont really give a hoot....I know what I have researched is correct....they dont!

Go for it I say............

I think what upsets people is when others take names from their tree without asking if they can.

The answer to that of course is just plain don't open your tree to anyone!

I don't ...... I only have about 130 names on the tree on here, which is far below what I have elsewhere. And that doesn't include OH's tree.

If anyone asks to share my tree ..... I carefully quiz them on how they think they are related, then I send them an extract that includes only the name(s) in which they are interested.

My tree on Ancestry is Private ................ and I follow the same line on there.

OH has been messing about at home this morning . He decided not to drive out to the university, he has to be out there from 4 -10pm for opera rehearsal, so he decided to stay home.

So far he has fixed a wonky door knob on our bedroom door, put some hooks on insides of new kitchen cupboards to hang some items like the nutmeg grater, vacuumed 2 rooms, found some way out-of-date cans and jars (soup and pasta sauce) and ditched the contents. He's having a ball!!

and I am keeping out the way!

:)))))
