It would be a long way for you to go Linda I just thought you would be interested in the adverts. for the coming Pre Fab talk.
I told me cousin he lived in one and he is going to try and go and tell them about him living in one, they lived in them till he was about 17 years old then he left and joined the army and his two brothers went into the fireservice.
Jean I understand how you feel . but like you said the horses need to be exercised .so long as they go to good homes that is the main thing.
Stephen did well getting your porblem sorted, you see mention something on here the people will help if they can

Maddie my husbands family all were born in Islington and grew up in that area until they were bombed out. but they had three and four story houses lovely Victoria houses but they were let off in rooms mostly. ovewr crowded.

Mo enjoy your night out.
Jean I will be thinking of you tomorrow as you say goodbye to your horses, it will be a sad day for you but you are doing what is best for them and I am sure you have found a good home for them. Take care of yourself and I hope it all works out ok. (((((((hugs))))))) for you.
Hello to all I have not mentioned, back later I hope,

I am having a right old time tonight. my main light bulb blew so I only have a small side light . I cannot climb the ladder to replace the main bulb.

I was watching TV East Enders when the picture frame stayed didnt move and no noise . I tired changing to other stations nothing worked so I tried the TV in my bedroom which is not digital the other one is. and that worked. so I shut down and started again it worked.
Now I am getting emails wishing me a happy birthday for tomorrow. as there is another Rita aged 80;.tomorrow.
I think someone is having a go at me.
OK which one of you are responsible for all this. ?

Not me Rita
But I had a bulb blow this evening too, in my kitchen. I will not be climbing to replace it without hubby here. He can have a job in the morning !!! Bless him.

Tv seems OK thank goodness.

Got to walk out with the dog soon, he's not happy and refused his dinner, he doesn't like being away from home.

Might get back on later

Morning all !

Slept later this morning for some reason (tired I suppose) 7.00 before I stirred.

Jean,
Can yo give me a bit more info on your Hugh Owen please.
About what date did he leave England.
What was his occupation ?
A number of folk have appeared who are near his age and more info may narrow the search down.

Heading for the hills later today. It's a two hour drive and I like to arrive around 4pm to get the tent up etc before it gets dark.

Pop back in later, got to head to the village shop, I need milk. Makes it a very expensive 'pint'. Normally we have loads in the fridge.

Morning everyone, very wet and dull here today.
Breakfast is ready, all on hotplate.

porridge, cereal or fruit.
bacon, eggs, sausage, mushrooms, hash browns.
toast and hot rolls.
tea or coffee. just help yourselves.

Stephen, will get my papers out later and send you more
information, thank you.

Rita, hope someone will come and put new bulb in for you.

Mo I think hand knitted baby cardigans are much nicer and
warmer than any you buy in the shops, I think the trend for
designer clothes for young babies is silly, babies grow so quickly.

Hope you all have a good day.
Go with God and in good health.
Jean xx

Jean,

Hugh Owen, age 26 and his wife Hannah(?)age 21, were living at
48 John Street, Hyde. This from the 1891 Census. No children listed.
Both working in the Cotton Mills.
Hannah was born in Sheffield.

No sign of him or Hannah on the 1901 Census

What was your Grandmothers name and where and when was she born ?

Still working on the Scottish search for him.

Did he have Scottish connections ?

Morning all
Thanks for breakfast Jean. Hope you soon get that light fixed Rita. Also that the tinitus eases.
It is very wet here just been for a walk with the dog. Needed wellies and waterproofs !!! He went for a paddle in the lake so we had to hose him off as he was fifthy.
Managed a bit of cross stitch last night and found some distant rellies too.
Be safe Stephen up on your mountain. Does your mobile work up there in case of an emergency.
Got some ironing to do today, tryingh to keep it down before Tuesdays departure. Yes we are both really looking forward to this break. I really want to see some sunshine and just relax reading a few books and a few beach walks like Marilyn............ but little or no shopping for me as there aren't many over there or things that we need.

Mo I am so sorry that Lillie hasn't been seen wearing your cardigans. But I remember I always knitted for my own children until sweatshirts and fleeces became cheaper and more fashionable. Most of my knitting has gone to Bulgaria now, I am waiting tohear that the parcels have arrived. They certainly sound like they will be appreciated.

Have a good day everyone

I stayed home yesterday from work. I was in bed most of the day reading and sleeping.
I feel much better now.
Rita i lived in a prefab from 1963-1970. It was white with a flat roof.
I'm going to be reading and watching Agatha Christie stuff today.

I like not being at work and being home!

Afternoon everyone

Sorry to hear you're not feeling too good Rita, hope the tinitus eases soon

have fun Stephen, I don't do tents, I like my comforts too much

Mo my mum knitted loads of jumpers and cardies for my son when he was a baby, I still have a couple put away for a keepsake. My nan used to knit for my brother and sisters when we was little, she knitted us all school jumpers so mum didn't have to buy them

Jean hope your horses went off to their new homes ok, it is sad to give them up but it is for the best.

just off out with the dog, see you later
