Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 29 Mar 2010 03:15

Hi all,

sorry I missed the party and didn't wish Sue a Happy Birthday, but hope it was a lovely day, Sue.

I have to go out and get a dress for o.h.'s son's wedding, it has been sorted out now and is at the place they cancelled a couple of weeks back, I suppose they couldn't find anywhere else so had to take that one. I am not going to spend a fortune, unless o.h. pays which I think I will suggest lol, and as it's Bank Holiday weekend in August I think I might get a dress I spotted in bhs sale if I can, pink and purple (of course) part linen, and wide enough straps to wear a proper bra under, I have a shrug that will go with it so can wear that to start with and then if it's hot and we end up sitting outside I can take the shrug off and sunbathe lol The wedding is a couple of miles away at a Registry office at 12.30 so all afternoon for the reception, we have to book a room at the venue for the night before and after so we won't have to rush there - 40 odd miles from here - and can drink what we want and just wander off to bed! Then we can recover on the Bank Hol Monday unless o.h.'s father has his birthday/ family get together on that day, that's the usual practice and not all the family will be at the wedding, I think there are only to be 50 guests, it's all being done on a tight budget, the bridegroom is a bit careful with his money.

Counselling later today so must get some sleep, can't miss another session as I did last week.

take care all and have a good week

love
Lizxxx

My God, where have you all gone? I thought it was only Marilyn that was stuck in the middle of the ocean.

Linda, the outfit sound really lovely, you'll have to send us some photos. Are you going to wear your wig?

Liz, hope you get the dress you want, sounds like you've got it all worked out.

How did it go today?

I'm the only one on here so I'll just sit and talk to myself for a while.

Shelly, how come you've only got 6 months? I got a year when I did mine a few months ago.

I've been going through my tree as well, trying to see what certs to send for while it's still 7 quid. Have you decided which ones to get?

Mo in Kent Report 29 Mar 2010 16:52

For goodness sake Pauline,I am getting seriously worried about you talking to yourself,so I thought I would just say hi to you. Did you get the e.mails I sent you.
I wonder where our Rita is today,it's so unlike her not to have popped in to
say hello.

Mo in Kent Report 29 Mar 2010 16:54

I only get six months when I renew as well Pauline. I think it's because Shelly and I joined later than you,and started on a six month contract.

Mo, I remember all of those things on the email list, and a few other things as well. I remember walking around all day on stilts that my dad made for me, and playing double dutch with 2 ropes. We played for hours with chuck-stones as well, don't know what you called them down south.

Rita probably remembers a lot more than me about old games.

I use to do that with my bike as well, put a card in the spokes......lol

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 Mar 2010 16:59

I had one of those horrible school tunics as well.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 29 Mar 2010 17:01

Not sure wether chuck stones are the same as what we played, but we played it with different coloured squares, and we called it gobs. Also we played Jacks. the Jacks had four points on them, and you had to throw the ball in the air,and pick the Jacks up,like one first then two,and so on till you had picked up all six off them.
I loved my hoola hoop as well,my grandchildren cant believe that I used to have one.
I will be back soon,I have got to go and dish the dinner up now.
See ya later.

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 Mar 2010 17:27

Yeah, we had jacks as well, it was the same game as chuck-stones but played with a small ball.

I can still use a hula-hoop and keep it up longer than my nieces can.

Did you have those coloured elastic bands tied together that went round 2 girls ankles and used as a type of skipping? Can't remember what they were called, something like Chinese skips.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 29 Mar 2010 18:44

Yes we used the elastic bands for skipping, like you I cant remember what
we called it though.
When my children were small, they had a ball that was attached to a long
piece off plastic rope, and an ankle strap, and they had to jump over the ball
whilst it was turning around their ankle.
They then went through a phase when we had to save as many elastic bands as we could,so that they could make a ball out off them.
Oh the things that we used to play with, that children these days have no idea off.
If it's not an electronic game off some type or another they don't want to know.
Just had a thought was it french skipping Pauline.

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 Mar 2010 18:52

Well, it wasn't English skipping - I know that......lol

You never see kids playing games outside these days, we were never in.

We used to walk on tin cans with string on them, sort of like small stilts. Easily pleased weren't we?

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 Mar 2010 18:56

Still no sign of Rita, I hope she's OK.

Linda hasn't been on today either, that's unusual.

SHELLYYYYYYYYYYYY, where are you?

Think I've lost Mo down memory lane.

Mo in Kent

Mo in Kent Report 29 Mar 2010 18:58

Did you ever drill a hole in two cans, and put string between them, and use them to communicate with someone. My brother and I used to do that. This was before mobile phones don't forget,we thought it was great to be able to be in different parts off the garden, and yet still be able to talk to one and other.

Pauline $(*-*)$

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 29 Mar 2010 18:59

Yes we used to do that, amazing what you can do with empty cans......lol

Got to go again, my son needs me.
