Thank god for that Pauline, I thought I was going Doo-Lally when I saw Marilyns cake.
How is your niece today.

Mo, I don't think Marilyn can be seeing the same thing that we're seeing........she's so far away - that's what it is.

My niece is doing fine thank you, she had all the tubes and things taken out today but she's still on morphine for now.

She's in the Gateshead hospital and it's quite high up, when I was walking back to the car park it started snowing.

Mo,

A bit of useless information......

Going 'Doo-lally'.

This term derives from when the British Troops were serving in India in the 1890s or so.

The Indian town of 'Deolali' had a hospital where troops who were suffering from what we now call 'Shell Shock' were sent before they were shipped home as being 'insane'.

Folk would say 'What's wrong with him?' and would be told,
'Him!, oh he's Deolali'.

Now that you know that useless information....do you feel any better for it? LOL

Stephen,

Well you learn something every day !!

My Granddad was Shell shocked poor soul I always thought he was a bit Doo-lally LOL
He used to sniff snuff I always thought that was weird, he had a cute little silver snuff box that fascinated me......never saw snuff on sale anywhere !!

I'm going out now to spend some dollars as Pauline and Mo thinks my days are up !!
and that I have gone Doo-lally with the cake I carefully recreated, so I better spend the lot.

SHOCK, HORROR, SADNESS

On the way to see my Granddaughters I have to pass through a village. The village has a lovely old school and the pupils are always so well dressed in their uniforms and look happy when they are making their way to the school.

It was burned down on Saturday night. Still awaiting the Structural Engineers Report to see if it can be saved.

The fire was set DELIBERATELY by three youths.

The oldest 17 the youngest just 12.

I am really sad about this as I always admired the building and also the hard work the Staff and Pupils were doing for the School and the local Community.

Well, slap my thighs Stephen, I didn't know that. I have been called Doo-Lally-Tat so many times in my life, I am convinced now that I must be. LOL

Shelly, Marilyn has taken herself of shopping, so that she doesn't have to sit on the naughty chair. Never mind we will catch her when she gets back, and she can also wear the dunces cap for disobeying you.
Rita as soon as she pokes her head round the door grab her,Pauline, you sit on her, I know you are tiny but we dont want her suffering any broken bones.
Stephen can get the cine camera out and record it all, Linda and the rest of us will cheer you on.
Notice that I will be right next to the door, ready for a speedy exit.>>>>

That is disgusting Stephen. What gets into some young peoples minds to make them do things like this. It can't be boredom surely, there is just no excuse for it.

Pauline $(*-*)$ Report 9 Nov 2010 18:09

When I was at school there were quite a few boys who threatened to burn the school down, but they wouldn't have really, it was just idle threats. The young people today are a lot different.....well, some of them. Thankfully not all kids are like those 3 youths.

Shelly, it's that new ring Marilyn's getting, all those sparkling diamonds have made her eyes go funny.

Stephen2009 Report 9 Nov 2010 18:20

Pauline,

I agree.....our youths are our future....and I have worked with and met so many that are doing great work for others as well as themselves.

It's such a pity that it's always the bad bunch that get the publicity in our National Press.

You can't beat the old comics like the Two Ronnies, or Morcambe and Wise.
Another commedien (sp) I like is Jethro. I have seen him in concert a few times, and once my ears have tuned into his dialect, I find him funny.
But there is definately one comic, if you can call him that, that I cant stand is Roy Chubby Brown. He is so coarse, but friends of ours, think he is brilliant. No taste thats what I say.
