Rita
No they just said his medication wasn't right so have changed it again. Only did taht abot 6 weeks ago just before their anniversary if you remember as he was in hospital then too.
I don't even know what he is on now !!!
His health problems are wide ranging, he has enphesyma(Sp) from working in the painter decorator trade = breathing in dust from laed paint, asbestos from artex, wood chip paper etc. and of course smoking until 25 years ago!!
Then there were his heart problems, heart attack 25 years ago, double heart bypass, nearly 2 years ago, stent, defibulator and something to regulate arythmia !!!
He has asthma too.
So it is amazing that he is still with us, a marvel of a very good health service to be sure.
Mum has a bad spine after years of pain and treatment, she no longer walks anywhere, and Dad of course can no longer push her wheel chair.
She had breast cancer about 12 years ago, but survived and now the dementia. Oh nearly forgot the diabetes, now insulin dependant and caused a heart valve problem from one of her tablets. She like you has warfarin and the regular blood tests for that.
They have a stannah stair lift to their flat, but hardly get out now unless it is for hospital appointments.
But they are still together and support each other so what more can we ask for.

Take care and hope you soon get over this horrible cough you have got

I find it very difficult to get into a good habit.

Rita

Rita Report 15 Dec 2010 10:45

Dermot ask at your nearest Abbey they have good Habits.

Linda your father has done well then with all the trouble he has had. my
Father died in 2001 he was 92 nearly 93 and had not had many illnesses in his life a couple of accidents in his job then he had lung cancer and that was what killed him .
I think your Parents will be better off in a retirment home it must be such a worry to you and the family, there they will have someone with them to be at hand for them in emergencies.
We have wood doctors here at the moment trimming back the trees.our trees have a presavation order on them . and they have to get permission by the council if they need trimming or cutting back.

I had to laugh if the health and Safety man was here he would tell this guy off. watching the Health and Safety man on Tv last night gave me a laugh as ill as I felt . if he had his way we would have no tree lights. no baubles on the trees as dogs or small children might swollow them?
no Christmas crackers as the bang inside is an explosive and could cause a fire. no turkey to go in the oven as it is heavy getting it out and the fat being hot might burn you.it went on and on even to placing a star or fairy at the top of the tree. it is Safety going over the top.

I was looking at some photos this morning old ones and there is one of my Gan (my mothers Mum ) in a portrait photo with her two sisters all dressed up in their kilts the photo must be very old.as Gran was born in 1887 and this was before she got married.

I need a cup of coffee now.

take care.

Afternoon everyone

thanks for the cards Marilyn and Mo, I haven't got anyone's home address.

Enjoy yourself in Norwich Marilyn

How are feeling Rita, has your cold gone

I went out for Christmas dinner on Monday evening with my fellow dinner ladies and playground assistants, it was very nice, we had a good gossipand a few laughs, got chucked out at eleven when 'time' was called

Son put the tree up and decorated it yesterday, he likes doing that, he says I put too much on and it looks tacky so I left him to it, he's done a good job, looks lovely

it's been raining today

hope you are all well

Hi Yvonne I wish . ? my cold has got worse even my eyes hurt and keep running what with that an my cough.I am dreading going to bed tonight.
I had some cards come and with them enclosed were letters I now have 12 to answer and dont feel like doing anything. I had a nice one from my last Scout Group their leader sent me a card and a letter telling me all they had acheived during the past year it is so nice to keep up with them,It was their 75th anniversary this year and I could not go as i was away.
I had an email from my son he wasnt feeling well. I said he must have caught this cold off of me he was here at weekend seeing to my DVD digital.
Then My daughter emailed me my son in law had his scan on Monday and he goes back to the hospital to get the results to see if they managed to get rid of the cancer after the big op naturally we are all worried about it.? I asked her did she get pn at her check up from the doctors.
Mum dont ask was the reply to that email.
She has bad news. her blood pressure has shot through the roof and they doubled her pills. her thyroids were not good so they upped those as well.she is dibetic that was higher than it should be and she had put on a little more weight.. she said to him so I am in a bad way, ?he said you could say that.. but your be alright so long as you take more care. she said he wrote her new perscription outl. she told him nothing is going right in the family. Megan is having to have a big operation in June next year. her brother had, two teeth out monday Megan and Ryans Dad was ill he has tonsillitis I said do you think they have forgotten their are others about

Thank you Marilyn, Pauline and Linda for your cards.
I hope by now that all the cards I sent have arrived.

Yvonne, I read all about you and the noisy crowd in the paper. You made the headlines, " Noise abatement society, had to evict a ladies night out, after they upset other diners with their laughter and jollity ". LOL
I wish I had someone who would offer to do my tree each year, could I borrow your son next year please.

Oh Rita, I am sorry to hear of all the ill health in your family. And I do hope to god that your cold/flu hurries up and goes away, so that you can enjoy your Christmas at your daughters.

Shelly, I didn't spend much in town today, I haven't got much left to spend.
How's the excitement in your house, with the lead up to the big day. I bet the kids are driving you nuts.
When do the schools break up for the Christmas hols.

I wonder when we will hear from Marilyn. I hope they had a good journey.

Hello to Pauline, Linda,Maddie Pat, Cath, Fiona aka Ruby, Sue, Lady, Stephen, Dermot and anyone I may have forgotten. Luv Mo

Shelly is it my imagination, or do the kids get more holidays these days. I know you are a lot younger than me, and that they did change the way the holidays were taken, but they always seem to have school holidays.
If not they have Bakers day, or teacher training days. How come when I was at school, teachers didn't get given this time for training.

Pat haven't you finished those cards yet. Have you had a busy day at work.
What type of work do you do love.?

Rita

Rita Report 15 Dec 2010 19:17

I bet you girls have all spent out. all these christmas presents and decorations and food you have been buying.

My friend in Devon Doris lives in Yelverton told me she spends a lot of time getting her guinuie pigs out and then having to cover them up at night. she said even the birds water has to be brokend up with a small pick-axe she walks her dogs every day about 5 miles. I amazed at her . she is in her late 70's and she still walks for miles.she used to take them out on rambles but said that was too far now.. me I have to sit down after half and hours walk.
Pauline I found Mum and dads photos would you like to see them?

looking at the weather man on TV tonight I wondered if he was connected to my Scottish family as his name is McCallum and alot of them dont have the A in MacCallum

Anyone on here been to Western Super Mare for a holiday? I put a thread out on chat but no one replied so I deleted it. my sister and I wanted to go to Somerset for a week in July and chose that place as we travel about by bus and wanted to beable to get to bath and a place called Mells where one of my Grandfathers ancestors came from. but looking on the internet it seem to have a bad feedback the Hotels food is not good and the beach when the tide goes out is mud.so I dont know where else to try.?
I am off now see you later if I am not drunk and fall into bed.

Mo in Kent Report 15 Dec 2010 20:01

Shelly both of our next door neighbours are teachers, and during the last lot of snow, they were home before some of the poor children, who's parents were still at work. They both work about 20 minutes away from home, so not very far, but both of their schools were closed, and they were at home for a whole week. But I bet they got paid for it, where as my son who works in Orpington, was unable to get to work, and will not be paid for the day of he had to have of,as he had to abandon his car, and there were no trains running.
They seem to shut the schools for no reason at all these days. I remember going to school, in deeper snow, and having to sit all day in wet clothes, BUT the schools never closed, and we did not have the same heating they have these days.
