HERE HERE MEL, Behave yourself Gill !!!

Morning all, evening Kim.

What weather. !! I lain in bed with my cup of tea, and the rain was hammering on the back windows. The wind has eased a bit now, but wouldn't want to be out in it.

Scotland has had the worst of it, by what the radio says.

Ann I would seriously be looking for some "Compensation" from your Bank. These errors should never happen. how embarrassing to have your card refused. Good job you had others.

Ros has just gone off to meet Martine for the weekly NATTER. She missed her last week, as we were on our way home.

Not sure if I want to go out at lunchtime for the football. If Ros stays out at Martine's, I can watch it at home. It won't be much of a match, so I won't be missing anything exciting

Mind how you go in this weather, we don't want reports of any accidents <3 <3 <3

Afternoon All,

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY GILL. I hope you have a nice weekend together. What a good start to the New Year for you all with the 'extra' hours your hubby has now got as well! :-D

Frank, I was thinking the same last night that I ought to make a complaint! When I worked any customer complaints or disatisfaction had to be recorded and reported to managers. It was the way they got to know things weren't working as well as they should and enabled them to identify training needs. Not reporting these things means things carry on as they are and don't improve so that doesn't do anyone any favours! I shall compose a tactful letter I think!! ;-)

We watched the end of the Alaskan Dogs last night that I had recorded. Wonderful Labs and Retrievers that could smell humans under water. They ride around with them in a boat and the dogs sense of smell can pick up human smell on the surface of the water when a body may be many feet under the water!! Naturally a lot was about the sled dogs, but they also use search and rescue dogs there as the many avalanches mean people get buried in the snow. They tend to use retriever type dogs nowadays as the St Bernards are too heavy for the helicopters!!

Another very windy night last night and when we set off up the close this morning we noticed some of the wall with 2 fence panels at the end bungalow had blown down on the pavement and road! :-0

OH has gone to a match so I have decided to tidy the study a bit!! I have bits of everything lying around!!

Happy Anniverssary to you both Gill <3..How many years is this one? That is nice for your O H to have the whole of this weekend off. What kind of goodies have you baked?

Ann that was so bad of the Bank !!I can't actually believe they did that. You really do have to make a complaint don't you.

Well Hannah and the girls will be flying back tomorrow.I did laugh as I sent her a message saying I must look up the next place they are moving on to.......Here reply was HOME lol I thought that they had another couple of nights .She said the tomorrow they will relax by the pool until it is time for them to be taken to the airport.I'm not sure what time their flight is.
The weather is still a bit iffy in Iceland I think.James says that he is not holding out much hope for seeing the Northern lights tonight.

Just done a bit more on the puzzle.Chris did quite a lot last night. But like you Ann it is all the really difficult bits left now.I have finished another row :-D :-D.Thats enough for now.
I must have been getting withdrawal symptoms from not having my favourite Runner Bean dish.(the one I like cold with garlic and chopped tomatoes.I have some cooking now :-D :-D.It reeks of garlic in here now :-S

Afternoon all,

<3 <3 Happy Anniversary Gill and Hubby <3 <3 have a lovely weekend together .
Good news for your hubby gaining the extra hours at work.

Well what a night ,the wind was so gusty ,we got up this morning and had just had a cup of tea when the electric went off ,so instead of our usual toast we had bread and butter with jam ,it was off about forty five minutes so not to bad .

Not a lot happening here this weekend ,just doing a few odd jobs .

Mesh tubing Ann ! sounds interesting ,will look forward to seeing how that turns out.
Sounds as if the bank lady needs a bit more training , as you say she should have asked you your name and address not the other way round ,why is it they always try to say your at fault , a letter sounds a good idea .

We have been invited to a tea party next sunday ,hubby's sister will be seventy and thought it would be nice to have a tea party for family and friends .

Mandy you should have lit the wood burner and done your toast on that. Thats what we did when in the cottage if the leccy went out. In fact in 1987 with the storm we had no leccy for about a week and all the cooking was done on the wood burner. I bought boil in the bag things as I had this big iron pot on an arm that went over the fire. Jacket tatoes in the ashes and peas in the pot of water with the B I the B dinners. Toast in the mornings for breakfast etc.........

The wind seems to have dropped at last here for now. I just went and corned the chickins and noticed it was calmer.

Hope Hannah has a safe journey home tomorrow.

Oh is having a lie down and I am about to do some ironing and think about what to get for dinner.

Annx

Annx Report 10 Jan 2015 17:50

I hate it when the leccy goes off.......you just don't know when it will be back on!! :-0 That wasn't too bad though as you say Mandy. At least it didn't happen half way through cooking the dinner! Yes, I've been thinking about how to get the beads into the mesh tubing. I must find a tiny funnel I have in the kitchen somewhere. That would be better than scooping I think! ;-) What a nice idea to have a 70th birthday tea. :-)

Jane those little goats look like they are allowed to roam at will. Not much grass for them though! That 2 weeks seem to have gone by quickly. In the end I decided to do a bit more jigsaw this afternoon. I don't think any I have done have taken this long before! Sky and tree are all that is left now and about a quarter of it left to do. It needs daylight now though to see the shades of the colours properly.

Back to the paperwork now. :-S

Jane Report 10 Jan 2015 18:06

Oh what a pain Mandy with your leccy going off.Thank goodness it was just for a little while.Mel It sounds like it might have quite exciting cooking with the big pot on an arm over the fire.Well just for a while anyway.Maybe not a week !!

Yes Ann I reckon the goats were just roaming free. They did look funny though .I liked the white one just coming around the corner.
The girls flight is not until about 5.30 our time tomorrow night(maybe 10.30 pm Indian time).I think they will have to change flights in Abu Dhabi ,like they did on the way out.
I reckon they will be like 3 zombies by the time they arrive at Heathrow at 6.30 am on Monday morning lol

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 10 Jan 2015 18:39

I liked the goats :-D i wonder if they have a little nibble of the clothes :-D they'll have a chomp on any thing :-D
I expect the girls will have a sleep on the plane ,i can never nod off on a plane .....i'am to nosey ,don't like to miss any thing :-D

Hubby keeps saying i wonder if we could boil a kettle on the top of the woodburner , don't even think about it i said ,i don't want the room filled with steam .
I did wonder if we should buy a toasting fork !!
DIL said we could toast Marshmallows on some sticks !! :-0 i don't fancy that mess either !!

Jane

Jane Report 10 Jan 2015 19:11

I NEVER sleep on a plane either Mandy.I like to keep my eye on things lol
Hannah will fall asleep the minute the plane takes off.She does it all the time.I think it a way of her body coping with stress of flying.I remember when we flew to Tokyo she sleep the whole 9 hours !!!!.She did just the same on the way back.

Oh marshmallows on a stick in the fire.We tried that when the kids were younger..The mess on the hearth was just horrendous..and not that easy to clean off either. :-S
Never again.

I see I made a bit of a boob boob with the last pic I sent :-S.It should be James's Birthday dessert. You might have all got a pic of Hannah's rug lol

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Jan 2015 19:14

Jane James 's dessert was Hannah's feet and Chris's rug??? What happened?????

Done a bit of ironing but not much as I re elasticated a pair of pyjames bottoms. The lastic had gone completely and I could'nt keep them up!! :-0 :-0 All done now and ready for wearing smelling nicely of fresh air.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Jan 2015 19:18

I have a folding toasting fork somewhere Mandy. I got it free I think some time ago. I have two othrs, one was my grandads with a Wire Haired Terrier on the top and the other one has pixies on it and a swivel end both in brass. I can remember toasting bread on grandads fire in the front room and him spreading it with butter for me and he to eat.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Jan 2015 10:42

Morning all and evening Kim,

We had hailstones a couple of times last night and they did'nt half make a noise on the windows.

This morning we've had a little sun but mostly the skies are grey. It's funny because out the back of the bungalow it is bright with as I said a little sun and out the front towards the north it is grey..................

:-(

Whats everyone up to today? I had a fast heart beat in the night again and it kept me awake for a while. I did some breathing exercises and that seemed to stop it after some time.

Jane

Jane Report 11 Jan 2015 11:08

Morning Mel and all
Hope the heart rate has settled Mel.It is amazing what a few simple breathing exercises can do.

Well it is a lovely bright ,bit breezy and chilly morning.Chris is splitting logs and I have just got out of the shower and dried my hair.I might just pop out for some Gnocchi as i have seen a nice recipe that I thought I would do tomorrow, and Chris says it is going to rain most of the day ,hence why I think I will go today.

Hannah is just about to set off for the airport. They have spent the morning at the pool and having some last pampering treatments.Soon they will be back to the grind and the trip will seem a lifetime ago.

There are so many birds using the feeder at the moment I can't count them !!!!

Frank Report 11 Jan 2015 12:14

Morning all Evening Kim,

Trust you to get the photo's Ars# about face Jane. Never mind we got them in the end. What are we going to do with you ??<3 <3

Nice bright sunny morning here also. No log cutting I am pleased to say.!!!

You are have it rough down your way Mel. Glad I am up NORTH. lol

Had a sort out in the saucepan cupboard this morning, after getting rid of the last of the gravy from the stew. We have pans/frying pans that I doubt we will ever use, but they are too good to just throw away.

Roast beef today, I have done all the veg, just the pudding to make.

I did go out after all yesterday. The match was rubbish but the beer so good !!! Bumped into an old friend, who has moved out of the village, but is back for a few weeks.

Conrad left a message to say "HE IS VERY SORE THIS MORNING" I bet he is poor little bugger. !!!

So Hannah is on her way home then, oh what memories she will have from this adventure. When is James due back. ??

Caught " MAMA MIA" last night, then "SKYFALL" I can watch the Mamma film any number of times and never tire of the songs. I haven't seen "SKY FALL" and enjoyed that. even though it is so far fetched. But the sort of film you can relax with. It meant I turned into a "PUMPKIN" as it didn't finish until after MIDNIGHT :-D :-D

Ros has just made a coffee, so I will go and enjoy that.

Hi all

Thanks for the Anniversary wishes, it was our 28th anniversary and we had a lovely day, although the weather was terrible, very windy with hail later in the evening. Not as windy so far today, but still cold.

According to the weather forecast we're suppose to be getting snow next....Roll on the spring, getting fed up of this bad weather now.

OH has just put some more bird seed out, so all the birds will be here shortly I should think. Haven't seen our squirrel, Rosie, for a while though, hope she's ok.

Loved the emails you've sent, the Rug was beautiful Jane. Did James have a nice birthday, hope he managed to see the Northern Lights. Safe journey for Hannah today, she'll be full of stories to tell you when she see you Jane. When is James due home, hope it's before the bad weather gets here. Safe journey for him too.

I hope no one else's leccy goes off, it's not very nice when that happens. Is it all back on now.

Finally got round to watching the first episode of "Broadchurch" last night... Took a while to get back into it, but got there in the end. Now there's another twist by the looks of it.

I see they've brought back "Stars in their eyes" Didn't like it, to much chatting and messing around, not sure if I'll bother with it again, even the singers weren't that good. I recorded it, so ended up forwarding all the rubbish. Sandra wanted to watch "The Voice" which was on at the same time. Shame about the 16 year old boy not getting through, I thought he was really good. Nice of Rita to write him a little note though.

Going to put the roast on now, it's going to be nice to have OH here to eat with Sandra and I for a change, he's normally working.

Good you had a nice weekend together Gill and dinner all together today too makes it even better. I bet Sandra is enjoying this weekend having dad home all the time.

It brightened a bit here but there is still a very chilly breezy wind. I have fed all the wild birds as they were all around this morning after a very cold night. The Robin was on that feeder I made for them so I took a pic through the kitchen window but it's not very good. I have the camera on charge at present.

You will soon hear all about Hannah's time away now she is on her way home. Safe journey. Is she going to straight back to London or calling into yours first Jane?

Frank I am the same with my sauspan cupboard. I keep looking in there thinking I should get rid of some of my frying pans as I now seem to have accumulated 5 nearly all different. I don't get on with my new one oh bought me when I had the new cooker as I hav'nt cooked a decent fries egg in it yet and as it's non stick they float around too much to be able to baist them. I have gone back to my cheap and cheerfull one from Mo**isons for fried eggs. then I have one of theirs which is smaller and one that mum bought me which cost £40. Supposed to be a top chefs one non stick but it sticks like blazes and I did all the right things when I first had it but I do cook the beef burgers in that one as it's the biggest one I have. O decisions decisions.............I shall probably keep the lot.
