Hi everyone! The wanderer returns! I've got a bit sick of having to email, and I'm sure Mel is fed up with having to cut and paste!!. Thank you Mel etc for keeping in touch with me, it's been a boost.
Not that much to say, commiserations to all you poorly folk, and hope you all recover soon. OH is busy getting us transferred onto Sky free sat! We've been on a sky package for years now but are fed up with the monthly charge when we only watch the main channels and the geographic/history channels. Hopefully this will prove beneficial!!
Marmalade making is in full swing so never a dull moment!!
Cas has had a brilliant season beating,! At last she has calmed down a lot and actually listens to instruction!! I've ordered a waterproof 'under the belly coat' for her as she has been getting so muddy and wet in the fields. It's due tomorrow so will send a pic!
Merlin is his usual plodding self! He's 14 in April, so becoming a senior citizen!!

Hi Liz great to see you back on here, you have been missed <3 <3 <3
I've been thinking of changing from Sky to freesat but wasn't sure if the channels we watch are all available on the free one, shall have to look into it. Most of what we watch are the main channels like you, so not worth paying month in and month out for channels that are available free. Could you let me know what the free channels are like please as not knowing has put me off doing it myself. Hope you don't mind me asking?

It sounds like Cas is coming on great with her beating. Good idea to get her a waterproof coat. Can't wait to see her in it :-) How old do horses live to, is 14 old? Sandra and I loved the photo you sent of him.

Bunnyboo Report 30 Jan 2018 20:35

Thanks Gill. Not too sure about Sky Free Sat as It would appear that you can't record anything!! OH will ring Sky tomorrow and talk to them about it. If this is the case then we shall have a look at Free view or Free sat (not sky but you can use the sky dish) we've got a chap coming to see us on Monday to discuss the options before we decide what to do, but as you say, paying every month for something you don't use fully is a bit ridiculous, I'll keep you posted!!
14 isn't THAT old for a horse particularly native horses, Merlin could live to 25-30 or even older!! Our daughter will take care of him if he out lives us which has set our minds at rest. Cas would go to our son.

Hi Liz ,great to see you back again. The first name I saw I thought was a new poster LOL
Chicken pie was totally scrummy tonight. I added some bacon lardons this time with the leeks and mushrooms and fresh Tarragon .The Asparagus was not good. So that went in the bin :-S

I am off to bed shortly to watch the second part of Silent Witness.
I won't be back now until Chris has sorted this laptop out tomorrow .

Gillx Report 30 Jan 2018 20:56

I didn't realise you couldn't record on Sky free sat so that wouldn't be any good to us as we record programmes all the time. I also didn't realise you could use the Sky dish for free sat so might look into that instead. We already have free view but it's one of the early versions which I don't think is as good as Sky, again another reason for not getting rid of Sky. Thanks for saying you'll keep me posted as any information would be great so we can decide what to do. We don't pay much each month for Sky but it soon adds up year on year and if, like you said, we're not using it fully then it's not worth the bill.

Nice to know you'll have peace of mind where Cas and Merlin are concerned if they were to outlive you. It would of been a worry otherwise. I didn't realise horses lived that long, so knowing he's going to be looked after when you are no longer able to do it yourself must be reassuring.

Sandra has us watching Bondi Vet at the moment, she loves all the animals on it. She likes Bondi Rescue too, which I also record for her.

Didn't see you there Jane, pleased to hear your chicken pie was a success, pity about the Asparagus though. Hope you're not offline for long and you have your laptop back soon. I bet you can't wait to have it fixed, it must be so frustrating for you.

Gosh it nice to see you back Liz and I did'nt mind putting your messages on here at all.

I wrote this hours ago and never posted it!!! Did dinner and watched Silient Witness and have just come back to the pc and found it on here.

Bunnyboo Report 30 Jan 2018 22:30

Thanks Mel and Jane. I'm sure you didn't Mel, but I've saved you a job!!! ;-) <3
In bed now, think Silent Witness is getting a bit far fetched, but we still like watching it. I think OH likes it more than I do!
OH is in the shower after a bit of a busy day sorting out odds and bobs to take to the scrap merchant, makes a bit more room in the barn, and every little helps!!

Good morning and Welcome back our Liz,

Another saga LAST NIGHT. I cooked dinner which was a treat and I cleared the lot. It was nice to get the bone in my fingers and have a chew. Even though ROS had been busy in the garden all afternoon. She still insisted in Washing up and cleaning down. so I was able to sit and watch the evening news.

By 10.30 pm I couldn't keep my eyes open. (Who's kidding who.) !!!I laid until Ros came in at 12.30. Then the cough started up. It went on for s couple of hours, so I got up and left Ros too it. I read for a while. made some tea and sealed down in my chair. By 4.30 am I did drop off, and woke at 6,00 am. I've made more tea, and watched T,V. Since

Jane I couldn't help myself when you mentioned your hair falling out. There was an old IRISH SONG that came to mind, which I found appropiate .Please don't be offended. "OLD MOTHER RILEY SHE GOT DRUNK, FELL IN THE FIRE AND BURNT HER BONNET. NOW SHE HAS NO HAIR UPON IT, SHE HAS TO WEAR A WIG>" SORRY

Yes the Falcon at Keystone. There is another at BLETSOE

Gill th great thing with snowdrops is they SPREAD year after year. We just dig some uo and put them in another bed. And there you go.

Jane, I have resolved myself, that the chances are I will never see my Daughter. But worse than that my THREE GRANDSONS and MY GREAT GRAN CHILDREN. Thank Goodness SALLY bought SIMON back into my life.

Liz that must take a weight off of your minds, to know that the animals will have a home to go too. I have been watching those FARMER PROGRAMMES in the afternoon. I am sure it was mentioned that Shire Horse can go on to 100. That's what I plan to do. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Filthy wet morning here. The rain is thrashing against the conservatory windows. So no gardening for Madam today.

While Ros was in the garage yesterday, she came across s box of TWENTY FOUR twin pinned DOWN LIGHTER BULBS. They last for ages so I can' see us having to buy any in our life time I hope Colin and Mandy are well, i's not like her to miss posting. IT CAME OUT AS POSING first time LOL LOL

I think I will get some breakfast, then shower d shave, I will try to keep myself active (JOKE) so I don't drop of in the armchair.

Stay dry if you are out and about. Gill there might be some snow up your way !!!!

Got the car insurance renewal his morning. Why is it these Companies can just raise the premium by over £30.00 with no explanation. ?? I have done ,as I do every year searched the Web to see what the prices are like. There isn't anyone out there that can get near my renewal quote. I will still ring them and see if I can get any reduction.

I have had THREE Weetabix for breakfast and another large COT that's FOUR this morning. All showered and clean cloths. I will be able to relax for the day now, with the exception of sorting out meal for tonight. Last nights meal was so nice and a lovely change from Vegetables, even though we like veg and eat plenty of it.

Still no sign of the weather improving any time soon. !!!

Morning all,

Its miserable here this mroning with rain and then a bit of brightness and back to rain again. I may have to turn the light onn to see the keyboard.

I must admit the end of Silent Witness brought a tear to my eye. It brought back memories.

Afternoon all

Very windy here today with hail and bit of light snow.

I've been sorting again this morning and have now gone through all my shoes and boots. I didn't realise how many I had. I've emptied my corner wardrobe to sort out which is all over the bed at the moment.

I have all my plants and bulbs in pots Frank so they don't spread like they would if they were in the ground. I might put some snowdrops in the front as we plant everything in the ground there, then when they start to spread I can pop some in pots for the back garden. It sounds like you had a terrible night, let's hope you have a better one tonight.

Going to get a sandwich now, then go back to my sorting. See you all later.

Afternoon all,

This blooming flu is just awful ,I've been so sick with it and sweat, we've had to change the bed each day !! not some thing you feel like doing when you feel so bad ,Colin seems to be a little better but we both have terrible coughs .
Son and DIL have got any shopping we needed which hasn't been much as we haven't been eating much just plenty of drinks and paracetamol.
Sorry haven't read any posts my eyes feels like they have been punched .

Will look in again soon but i thought I'd better let you know how we are .

Frank

Frank Report 31 Jan 2018 14:16

Nice to see you Mandy. You wonder where all the moisture comes from in your body, to be able to sweat like you do. !! for the last two nights that I have sat in the lounge I have pint glass's of water on the table, it saves me having to get out of the chair all the time. I have two box's of Strepsils that I am sucking on through the day. But the worse thing is this blooming cough. Feels like theres something stuck in your throat, that you have to move. But does it move NOT LIKELY ;-) ;-)

Well it looks like Colin is turning the Corner, so hope you are not far behind.

Gill we tend to put a lot of different bulbs in and around the pots on the patio. We also have flower pots of daffodils that we place in the boarders. Together with all the bulbs in the flower beds. Ros was saying today, we must move the HEBI at the bottom of the steps, as it's growing so far out over the lawn. Will find a place for it in the bed down the garden. I thought you might get a bit of snow. !! How is Glynn today ??

Ros is doing a dish of Pasta shells, mushrooms, onions and bacon lardons for tonight, so I haven't anything to do.

The sun is out at the moment, with a good stiff breeze. I expect it will get cold tonight, with this NORTH WESTERLY WIND.

If I feel like it this evening. I MIGHT make my way to the pub to see a game of football, and a chat with the lads.

I don't seem to be able ,o get warm. The heating is on and I have a jumper on. It must be the blo@@y cold hanging around, I hope it clears up soon.

Blue tits still hanging around the front garden. !!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 31 Jan 2018 14:30

We,ve had hail and then sloppy snow and now the suns out.

Gillx

Gillx Report 31 Jan 2018 15:20

It's gone really dark here and now we have heavy hailstones, I'm so glad I don't have to go out in it. It's very windy and cold too.

Sorry to hear you're still under the weather Mandy. Like Frank said if Colin's turn the corner then hopefully you won't be far behind. There's nothing worse when these bugs linger.

The shivers have finally stopped with OH Frank, but he still has the cough and he now has a pain in his side, which could be the stones the doctor was talking about. He's still sleeping day and night, but like I said to him, sleep is probably the best medicine. He's still got a low appetite and says when he does eat and drink anything it taste awful. Hopefully he'll start feeling better soon.

You say you're going to move the HEBE Frank, We have moved two of them and find they don't like TAP WATER so if you're planning on moving it in the spring it might be an idea to start collecting some rain water as they seem to like that. When we moved the first Hebe we watered it every day with the hose pipe and it started to die back. At first I thought it was the cat spraying on it, but when we moved the second Hebe, because it was closer to the bungalow I noticed it drooped when I watered it with tap water, but perked up when I used RAIN WATER. So keep that in mind when you move yours. If you like it where it is, could it be cut back off the lawn, it would save you some work? I'm not sure if they respond well to being cut back though, so maybe you could Google it first, just to make sure it wouldn't kill it off.

Your garden sounds lovely, we have a border that we mix and match with plants in the ground and pots around them, but it's only small with no room to plant anything else there, plus it tends to get water logged when it rains heavily, so I can't put any snowdrops in. The front garden is slightly dryer so I'll plants some snowdrops there and take a few of them to put in pots once they start spreading to put in the back garden. I notice today that our Tulips and bluebells are starting to grow, so we should have a nice show soon.

The Tulips were the bulbs Sandra and I planted up last year, so no doubt Sandra will have her camera out again to take some photo's when they're in flower. The Anemones we both planted at the same time as the Tulips have started flowering, so the border is starting to gain a bit of colour now.

Have fun at the pub tonight, it'll be nice to spend some time with the lads watching the football. Just make sure you feel up to it first, you don't want to make yourself worse. Hope you're not starting with the shivers like my OH had, they lasted about 4 or 5 days with him and have only just stopped today.

Frank

Frank Report 31 Jan 2018 16:37

I have come over all shivery and GIDDY and am frightened I am going to topple over. So going out tonight is definitely a NO NO.!! My stones are also playing up and this cough is driving me mad. I don't doubt another night in the armchair, is on the cards.
Friday I have my scan, so should know what I have got then, if they tell me.

Gill ,we have FOUR BIG BLUE WATER BUTTS. So have always got plenty of rain water. Sorry you never got the snow for Sandra. But it's not to late. !!!!

What a day!! The coat arrived it it was too small!!! OH was convinced his measurements were correct - they weren't!! So it's had to go back for a refund and I'll have to order a bigger one!!
No joy with Sky Gill! So we're going to explore Free View and Free Sat. Will let you know how we get on! Frank I think the longest recorded years that any horse has ever lived has been 60! Apparently 100 years ago there were over a million Shire horses world wide, now the numbers are down to 1,000-1500! They are lovely animals, huge but extremely gentle and very biddable!
When is your anniversary Frank?! Ours is tomorrow (53 years!) can't believe it's so long!
