Afternoon All It sounds like they all enjoyed the Easter Egg Hunt this morning Mandy :-D. Ringing the little bell was agood idea :-D. I hope they all haven't overdosed on sugar and are not all hyper LOL. Mel you will be tucking into your lovely box of chocs soon(unless you have already made a start ;-) )
Anne it must feel strange for Richard and the others without their friends John and Kathy.I am sure they will still have a lovely holiday though. I think it is really nice idea having a freindly group holiday like that. It seems like Abbie must be up and down to Cornwall quite a bit to see the new boyfriend. Does he ever get to come up to see her? The weather looks bad for tomorrow down that way so I hope she isnt planning on coming home then !!!.
Just seen you have stated the chocs Mel :-D What time are guests arriving FRank? It sounds like another great feast at your house :-D Just us 3 for dinner. I have a small rack of Lamb for Chris and me, and roast beef for James. He is not a Lamb lover.I shall do the roast potatoes first, then turn the oven down for the Lamb ,beef and veg. I am hoping that they dont want to eat too early as I did myself Bacon and Eggs at lunch time. I don't know why but I just fancied it and it was blooming good :-D But I still feel stuffed :-S
H&G have been down the Paris Catacombs this morning. James bought the tickets as a birthday present for Hannah. They said it was really interesting and they had a brilliant guide. But if they had not had tickets they would have had to queue for about 6 hours !!!!. That is how popular it is. I would love to do it but James said that with my dicky hip it might not be such a good idea as there is a lot of walking and lots of steep steps. So I think that will have to be crossed of my to do list when we go in September to Paris. Just had a mini video so will forward it . It is all bones and skulls just in case anyone doesn't want to see.
FRank do you reckon we will get the snow tomorrow or will we be on the edge?

Good morning all,
The "FEAST" went to plan. I got the leg of lamb cooked and covered leaving the oven free for the roasts, parsnips and Yorkshire puddings. Ros said I shouldn't have done yorkshires, but they all went. all TWELVE of them.
When J & C arrived about 2.00 pm. We sat and had a drink and a nutter. I put the seamer on around 3.00 pm. The Oven had done it's job with the roasts etc. We sat down around 3.30 and never left the table till after 6.00. Ros's sweet was delicious and all plates cleared. We all had Chesse and biscuits. John and I managed 2 bottles of Red. Neither of the girls drink so had this coloured water stuff. !!!
As soon as John sat down in the armchair, he was asleep and Carolyn woke him at 7.15 pm to go home. Ros was very good and cleared everything. She put he D.W on, and washed up the other things. So nothing for me to do.
Nice that the weather was fair for the egg hunt for the children Mandy.
Jane I don't think that is something I or Ros could do either. All those stairs, NO WAY.
It's been raining here this morning, and the sky looks full of something, so we will have to see if we get the white stuff.
I have heard from my eldest Nephews wife this morning on F.B. to say they will be going to Steve's funeral. If Simon can get the time off work he will go, and take us with him. What a time for a FAMILY REUNION. !!!
Nice quite day today, we will just do our own thing.

Our lunch went really well too Frank! Family arrived just after 1pm so we ate about 130. ,I did much to much veg but like you said, it's better to have too much than too little!! L bought a trifle for pudding which saved us having to make one. We had a nice walk after lunch as it was warm and sunny here. OH didn't come, but finished the clearing up and put on the dishwasher which was good of him. L bought me a lovely bowl of violets which I was very pleased with. Peter Rabbit was extremely well received, so all in all a good day with them finally leaving at about 645. We watched the 'Chateau' too Mandy. We really like that prog and following Dick and Angel's adventures! Today we're having a peaceful day with cold food and little or no work! Sadly it's mucky weather so Cas will have to put up with a walk instead of her usual run as the paddock is full of water!! :-(

Morning Frank and All,
Sounds like you had a lovely afternoon Frank and enjoyed the company and all had a good natter.
Weather is not good here again today its so dull and drary and wet. I don't think its raining at the moment but it did rain all afternoon and evening yesterday. The chickens are floating again aft just drying out a bit.
Will send a pic when I download it of the new brooch I made over the weekend.
Ann at the shop was delighted with her bag charm I made her unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of it. I will ask her if she can take one and send it to me. She liked the little tiny scissor charm on it and I thought she would like the tape measure.
Mandy your DIL has the children well trained if they are only aloud to eat one egg at a time. It will make them last longer that way too. I left the presents for the boys on Saturday. As Sam dos'nt eat chocolate they had a little box each of easter shaped things like you used to get the scrimps. Remember those in like a hardish bubbley stuff like the sweet bananas. Also at Christmas time I bought them a Minions money box each which were too big to go in the stockings so I kept those for Easter as they are sort of egg shape.

Afternoon All Well what an Easter Monday it is here. All the gardens and one house along from us are flooded. Chris has just come back from helping pumping out the front of next door.Thank goodness is hasnt reached us. The Highways or Council lorry came to try and blast what is blocking the culvert under the road from the Brook to the other side. This has happened several times before (you might remember out gaage being flooded a couple of times) . The problem is no-one claims responsibility for this culvert. The ditch that runs along the other side of the road from us should be full of water but there is nothing :-S
We also have a blocked kitchen sink. So it is all fun here :-S :-S NOT.
Glad you both had a lovely meal yesterday with family and friends)Frank and Liz) I must get on now and see if there is anything I can do.I think though that the water level is going down now so touch wood there will not be any further trouble today.
I will be back later.

Mel . No that is the hedge on the other side of next door. They were pumping out too. I fee sorry for the people in the house that has the water in. The brook is just a few feet to the side of them and they are always the first to be flooded. The back gardens of the first 3 properties are flooded and the front gardens of 4. We are the fifth We have managed to get away by the skin of our teeth this time. :-D They are all still pumping ! Another neighbour 2 doors down has rung someone to come out as her main drain (water ) is just about to come up through the Man Hole Cover!!!. They were having trouble with flushing the toilet. Our kitchen sink is unblocked now :-D. I think it I will make a start on dinner for tonight now. Its going to be Normandy Pork.

Oh said water has to go somewhere and it will go away on its own the way it came. He said you are wasting your time trying to get rid of it.
The council needs to do something about this problem as its not the first time it has happened and it is a health hazard to a lot of you.

My SIL has gone to stay with SUSAN her daughter. I will catch up with them both later. Garry the other son has ben in touch today also. I rang my sister, she gave me this info. and she says she hardly speak to anyone. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
SWAP you Liz, I have plenty of lamb. I have just cur enough for us, for this evening. Looking at the veg that's over from yesterday. I think there might be enough for us two.
There's been some SRUPID Robin Williams films on BBC 2 this afternoon, Ros was enjoying it, so I just sat through it.I expect the Bl@@dy soaps will also be on even though it's Easter Monday. !!! I will have to look what I can find on my Tele in the conservatory.
Enjoy the rest of your day girls, hope you all have had a nice Easter. xxx

Mel, it had to be pumped away otherwise we would have been flooded and the next houses along. The main problem is this blocked culvert where the brook should drain into and then into the ditch over the road. The main drains were FULL but the level is going down now .Someone, either the council or the Highways Department HAS to take responsibility over this Culvert. The new houses over the back of us will not be built for ages and that is nowhere near the brook. The people who came from the Council or Highways were pumping the water from the blockage into the field opposite I think. I am just so relieved that we haven't been affected this time. Chris said that when he was helping out next door he met the other people the other side and they have a new dog called Hector. I think it might be a Hungarian Vizsla . I had to look this one up !! They must have lost their dear old boy Shera :-( a beautiful Golden Retriever ).
Mel I love your latest Star Gazing Hare creation :-D. Fancy not realising you had sewn your finger LOL I have the Normandy Pork dish in the oven now for a couple of hours .I will just need to add Creme Fraiche, Cornflower ,and Dijon Mustard at the end. So that is me done now for a bit. I will see if there is anything worth watching on tv.

We had the same problem when we lived by the river Barle in Somerset Jane, the calvert under the tow path where the storm water from the ditch at the bottom of the gardens that should have drained into the river was constantly blocked and of course the water backed up into peoples gardens and on some occasions houses!! What with that and the storm drains being blocked with stones and other debris pouring off the moor, water down the road at the front of the house could be a real problem! Like you, no one ever seemed to be responsible for keeping things clear, owing to the ditch partly being owned by the N.P, and partly by individual people whose land it ran through! the storm drains were highways, and so on!! Luckily here, as the bungalow is up on a trailer, apart from the paddock, ( partly an overflowing ditch!!) we are ok!

Evening all
We've had a horrible wet old day here ,it's poured all day but saying that the sun has now peeped through . The road was flooded out the front and i couldn't believe my eyes when i looked out there were two ducks having a swim !!!! LOL
You don't need any water flooding in Jane you've had enough problems with water . There are several roads flooded this way where the cars have had to turn round because there's no way through .
Family came for lunch and they all enjoyed the Turkey ,there's enough for us for tomorrow and DIL took some home for their meal tomorrow , the children all tucked in they even ate the roast parsnips which surprised me as i didn't think they liked them . Now tomorrow Chelsea is coming to stay overnight it should have been later in the week but Katie is going to stay with DIL's sister tomorrow so she asked if she could come tomorrow instead .
You do have a feast Frank, i do main and sweet but i don't think i could manage to eat cheese and biscuits too :-D
Oh Oh Mel i can feel that cotton pulling through :-0 makes me shudder thinking of you pulling the cotton out . I like the little stars on the brooch ,do you put a little padding in between the layers to round them off a bit ? it's hard to see if you do as the picture makes them look flat .
Liz did to see them advertise a new programme with Dick and Angel from the Chateau ,i think it's about them helping other people do DIY on their homes , i think it starts next Monday 9th at 4pm on channel 4. I did wonder how they would manage with the woodburner giving off the heat on that floating platform as the cover looked plastic !!!
Hope Gill is feeling better .
I might be naughty and eat a little chocolate now :-D

I hav'nt seen Escape to the Chateau yet. I am going to watch Bear Grylls a bit later on when I know oh is asleep then I don't get any talking through it or how they should be doing things. I too saw the new program advertised and shall be watching that too.
We had a little sunshine late afternoon and a little Dunnock was warming itself on the roof of the bird table. now its raining again but it has been warmer today. Yesterday we had that bitterly cold wind.
Mandy I see you are all booked up for the children s sleep overs. They must really enjoy staying with nanny. Have you knitted anymore dolls clothes?

O yes I do put something inbetween the layers. I use card on the back and a circle of quilters fabric Ann up the shop gave me. It just makes it stand out a bit. I did try a little stuffing but its hard to get it in the right place when you have to sew the top to the back and you have to sew the pin on the back before sticking the card to it and I never seem to get it in the right place as its hard to hold the pin and sew it on as it slides around.
Have an idea for another one now.
