Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Apr 2018 18:30

We had a sunnyish morning then in the afternoon it turned really cloudy and it has rained and its blooming cold out there now.

I finished the bed and oh gave me a hand with the quilt cover as always. Its just too big for me to get the air under it to straighten it out.

O Jane poor Janice. Its just one thing after another for her and Larry. I hope Michael is ok and they can do something for his back. What a terrible Easter they have all had. Sending love and wishes. It must have been so scarey for Rosie and the children. Hav'nt you said before that James has gone all floppy?? <3

Lasagne tonight with chips so nice and easy as its one of Lidl's. I hope its ok.....

It's been a really lovely day here lots of sunshine and quite windy too ,one litle shower just after lunch and that was it .

Glad your feeling better Gill oh soggy feet not good at least you've found another pair of shoes for the garden so no more soggy wet feet .

Oh dear Frank that's a lot of sneezes all in one go no wonder you had a funny head
i bet the home was pleased with the muffs ,will Ros do any more ?
Enjoy the football tonight .

Oh Jane those months will go so quickly ,a winter wedding will be lovely ,i suppose you don't now much detail yet ,i wonder if Hannah will come home to get married or will she get married where is is living now .
Oh poor Janice what a worry ,lets hope they can ease that pain for Michael ,three children to look after is a hand full .
Oh Bless little William poor little boy thinking some thing is going to happen to his daddy .

It has brightened up here now Liz(just a bit). It is good you have a GP who is very thorough.Lets hope that OH's problem can he found and sorted soon. I reckon you will be signed off when you have your next check up. You have done so well with the new hip.I just wish my Sciatica was better like yours is. It is very wearing and depressing :-S.
My Nephew was having trouble weeing which was one of the big worries .But it has been put down to the amount of opiates he is having to take for the pain. Apparently one in particular can affect the sensation that make you feel the need to 'go'.

Oh Mel I am sorry to see you have laost another old Gal
:-(

Gill, doing a bit more research is good for you at the moment (it will stop you doing to much physically LOL ) It all sounds quite complicated !

The Mitts will have been a great thing for some of the many residents at he Nursing home Frank. Inmates LOL !! Some of them might feel they are. I know my Mum felt like that. They can appear to be very depressing places and like Ros many people would not be able to work in these places. I do think though that like your Neighbours Husband some are in their 'own world' which hopefully means they are not in an anxious and distressed state.

Mel I did watch Come Home. One more to go . I think it is good.

It's all happens to you my dear Jane. Congratulations for the winter wedding, to both of the lovely people. Your poor sister xx It's wonderful how families pull together in a crisis. When this is all over, Janice will need a holiday, if not away, a break with you would be nice.

Lets hope Ian's tests are negative Liz, that's the trouble with pains in that area, they never really know what the cause is. Lets hope also, that you get a clean bill of health when you have your check up on the 13th. It's not a FRIDAY is it ?? lol lol

Dinner was a complete success apart from I did too much veg. We just couldn't manage it all.

I's still raining here. So I will really need Ros to take me to the pub, otherwise I will be siting around in damp trousers, if I walk down there.

I do hope your family are O.K. Jane. I never had the pleasure of making a Brides fathers speech. I assume it was the LODGER of my EX. as I know they weren't married, when Sarah got married. Needless to say I didn't get an invite.

A December wedding how lovely. I wonder if it will be a WHITE wedding in the snow? I suppose there's always a chance! :-0 Not long to go then, only 8 months to December so you better start looing for a dress and coat and a hat Jane.

It started to rain here again tonight. We never seem to get a full day and night wiothout it lately.

I must go and have a look at Mandy's pm.

Frank Report 5 Apr 2018 09:43

Good morning from a very blue sky and bright Northants.

It looks so good out there, I am going to get the steps out and clean the windows. We and the neighbours have been waiting, it seems for ever, for the WINDOW CLEANER. You watch as soon as I do mine the Bu@@er will come. lol lol

Yes Jane, I didn't choose my words for the patients very well did I ??? Naughty Boy. !! I've just smacked my hands and legs. Oh that hurt :-( :-( :-(

I expect Hannah will marry in the little village church. I assume it hasn't changed over the years. A bit of useless information for you, The first VICAR there was a Rev. BIDEFORD. It's where we had Simon Christened and Sarah confirmed. So it has some lovely memories for me.

Last night I looked out and it wasn't raining, so I decided I would walk to the pub. WRONG DECISION. I only got down the bottom of the close when the heavens opened. I walked in the pub like a drowned rat. Maxine got my a towel to dry my hair off. Roa picked me up when the match was over.

We have the date and time of Stephens Cremation. I have told Simon and he is going to try to arrange a days holiday, so he can take us down. It's the 19th April at 11.15 am at Hainault Crematorium. So we will need o leave here around 8.30 am.

Ros is off to "STITCHERY DO" until around 3.00 pm. So I have the day to myself.

Sorry about you loosing another chicken Mel, When do you get your battery hens ??

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Apr 2018 10:33

Morning all and Frank,

Its a beautiful morning here too with plenty of the yellow stuff.

Frank I don't have battery hens I have X Waitrose free range hens from not too far away. If you remember I had 7 not too long ago. I have them whenever they are getting ready to clear out the ones that are about 18 months old. She sells them off for a £1 each and well worth their money they are too. They are nearly always bald in places but they soon feather up with good food and treats. I think its about around August or October. The rest are gassed so I like to think I do my bit and give them a better life than the ones who don't make it. I am not the only person who buys some. Then they have about six weeks to move the big houses and clean up before the new lot come in.

I have to go to Mole Valley today for chickens food and oh wants some mixed washers for the mower decks so not sure what time I will go. May bring fish and chips home so I won't have tocook tonight if I go this morning. Just got to get the washing on the line and another load in, do a few jobs and off I shall go.

See you later.

Frank

Frank Report 5 Apr 2018 11:14

Well here is one KNACKERED little boy !!!

I have done the front lounge window. The porch and front door. The two kitchen windows and the bathroom window. I've wiped all the plastic surrounds and the sills.I couldn't reach the gutters. They need a good clean out anyway, that's a job for another day. !!!

Mel, I forgot about where you get the girls from. You have said before. The price is very good too. It's nice to know you do your bit for keeping some alive. Do they continue to lay, and for how long. ??

Even though it's nice to be in the fresh air. It's nicer still to get back indoors in some warmth. That wind has still got a nasty bite to it.

Have just taken TWO more books round to Tony. So I will be starting another today.

Lynn, the woman who had "NORMAN" the Labradoodle. Has got herself another dog. Poor Norman died from Cancer a few weeks ago. The new dog is left alone most of the day, and today it has been constantly BARKING. I think if it continues, I will need to have words with her. I's not fair on us the neighbours, and not good for the dog also. I suppose I could offer to DOG SIT, as I don't go out, and would be company for each other. I will see what Ros has to say first.

The neighbour who passed away before Christmas. The daughter hasn't been over once. Her car which is a 65 plate sits on the drive. I think as it's an Automatic, I might ring her to see what she is going to do with it, and make her a silly offer. She doesn't need the car or even the money, as she still has her Dads house untouched since his death a few years go. Pam next door is concerned that the bungalow will go to rack and ruin, and as she is attached to her bungalow, she might get trouble from mice ec.

Time for a coffee, and see what we are having for dinner tonight. I did get a loin of pro out of the freezer yesterday, so I cn make something around that.

Gill I hope you are not working in the garden, if you are t's smacked legs for you also. lol lo.

Gillx Report 5 Apr 2018 12:26

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny here today but still a bit on the cold side, so no gardening today for me Frank ;-)

I see you have the funeral date now, let's hope Simon can book the day off work so he can take you.

So Hannah is getting married in December Jane, how lovely, a winter wedding. I got married in January and we had a few flakes of snow, it was lovely as it wasn't to much so I didn't have to walk through it in my dress. Sorry to hear about your sister's family problems, I hope everything turns out okay for everyone.
Yes researching my tree is stopping me doing to many heavy jobs. My back is still a bit sore so resting it will help.

Your poor girl Mel, how old was she? At least she had a lovely life with you.

Hope everything goes okay for your OH and for you on the 13th Liz. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you both.

I've had another go at my family tree this morning and seem to be getting on better now. I've added lots more people and had some help off another Genes member yesterday, which was great. I now know why the daughter had a married name mentioned on the 1939 register, when she didn't actually marry until 1945. It was an update and not the original surname, which of course would of been her maiden name.
That was my something new learnt yesterday ;-)

Well, I've spent most of the morning in the garden as it's been lovely here! OH has been making a cage for the sweet peas, and repairing the three he made last year for the runners. I've been weeding and sweeping up the debris left from the rain - looks much tidier now!
Be a bit careful offering to dog sit Frank! Now and again is fine, but everyday could get a bit much particularly if it's young and a tad lively!!
Off in for some lunch now. I certainly feel better for being out!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Apr 2018 14:59

Yes Frank thnk again cos if its a dog Ros won't have much border left after a while. When we had our Alsatian when I was young he would start at the begining of mums border and work his way along so all dead plants in the front. Another reason why we have all had bitches since then.

II hope there is no leaks in the empty bungalow if nobody has been in it for a while after all that snow and bad weather we've all had.

I hav'nt gone out yet as you can see as the fish shop dos'nt open again till 4.30pm so I shall get ready now and have a look around the shops before coming home with the dinner.

Frank Report 5 Apr 2018 16:14

Well I did a silly thing this afternoon. I RANG he daughter of the lady that passed away before Christmas. The car is a rental, through the government scheme for Motorbility customers. So is not for sale, just sitting there waiting to be collected. She went into chapter and verse about her mothers illness and cause of death. FORTY-FIVE MINUTES later I was able to get off the phone. That will teach me for trying to get a bargain.

Thanks Liz and Mel. It never crossed my mind to think of the responsibility of looking after someones dog, while they are a work. Taking in what you both said, I won't even mention my thoughts to Ros.

What an absolutely beautiful day. I have the conservatory door open, and the lounge windows. A nice breeze is coming through as I sit here. Ros came back from Stitchery Do and went straight down to the greenhouse. She is potting on some Tomato plants, and other things she bought on Tuesday. I have cleared the Mint in the Belfast sink, and planted FIVE new plants. I have fed and watered them in. She is also going to plant the Runner beans in pots, to get them going.

Jonathan wants to borrow the rotavator, and has said he will do my little bit of veg patch as well. So that will be ready for planting out, when we are ready.

Ros is saying that her sewing machine is getting to heavy for her to carry into the workshop/Scouts hut. and the Chapel rooms. So I am looking at getting a trolley with wheels, so she can put the machine on that, and pull it along.

Harvey has just rung, he is on his way up to put a new ash- felt roof on the shed. It got a lot blown off in the last winds. He will also fit the new fence panel between Denis and us. If he has got time he will do some other jobs, that I can't do. Which the way I feel at present is EVERYTHING. ;-) ;-) ;-) I must ring the gardening chap to see when he can fit us in for a couple of hours every two/three weeks. He can cut the lawns, and help Ros in the garden. (she can tell him what she wants doing) thats her domain !!!

Harvey has just arrived, so I had better go a get him a coffee.

Jane Report 5 Apr 2018 18:04

Afternoon Everyone
I have had a rotten day with my hip and back and have spent most of the day lying down. I just didnt know what to do with myself. These new tablets dont seem to be having much or any affect . I think I will have ot make an appointment with my GP . I know I am on a very low dose so it may have ot go up ,but then there will likely be side effects. One now is tiredness.I could have slept all afternoon but made myself stay awake (other than a few minutes of nodding off).

Frank, I can't believe that car hasn't been picked up yet after all this time !!. Plus why is the daughter not doing anything with the bungalow or her Fathers house? It seems crazy to me. I agree maybe it is best not to offer to have the dog on a regular basis. But it cant be good for it to be left barking all the time . Poor thing, and poor you having to hear it :-S

Hannah and Gareth will be marrying in London. It makes me feel a little sad really as Hannah always used to say when she was younger she wanted to be maried in Cranford Church. But I think as nearly all their friends live in London and work colleagues too this will be one reason why they have decided to do this. The other thing is that as Gareth has been married before I woudnt be sure that our Vicar would Marry them,a.though I know the rules have been relaxed somewhat for a divorced person to Marry in Church. I know very little about Gareths marriage other than he married a girl he met when at Uni ,but she was unfaithful (more than once) so he ended it.I have never asked any questions as I feel it is not my business ,even though `I am desperate to know all the details LOL .They don't feel they want to spend a fortune on a'blow out ' Wedding as saving for a deposit for a house is more important. We will be giving them a nice healthy Cheque to help either with the Wedding or if they prefer towards a deposit. I just want Hannah to have the perfect day :-D

Chris has been in the garden all day. I haven't really seen him other than just to hear him call up the stairs to see if I was still alive :-D. Thomas too has been out all day.I have spotted him a couple of times mooching around.Once in next doors front garden. I hate him out the front just incase he decides to go out onto the road.

Jess's Benjy went missing yesterday. He was scared by another dog when she was walking him in some wood and he scarpered. You can just imagine her panic. She messaged friends from uni who came out in force to join in the hunt, and thankfully after a few hours one of them found Benjy hiding under a car near a very busy road.So all ended well there thank heavens.
I have got dinner in the slow cooker ,but have decided that will be for tomorrow now. James is going down to Jess tomorrow night so if he is late in from work it can just be heated up,plus it is not too heavy a meal as he can't drive with a heavy meal inside him. Tonight he can have a Curry and Chris and i will have Meatballs and Spaghetti .

Thining back to Thursday Teatime when I was a girl. It could have been Mince and Mash for me and Dad and Tripe for Janice and Mum . Yum Yum for the Mince but Yuck for the Tripe :-D

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 5 Apr 2018 18:48

I've never had tripe in my life Jane!! Not something we ever had at home! We all had eat the same as my mother wouldn't have cooked separately and tbh neither would I and still don't!
We gave both of ours money, and we did pay for L's wedding/reception, thankfully not M as even 23 years ago it wasn't cheap!! L's second wedding she and her hubby/his parents paid for, the reception was at their house and garden.
What a lovely day it's been. We've got a lot done outside and feel better for it!!

Evening all,

What a grand day it's been ,blue sky and warm sun shine all day ,we sat out this afternoon and i could feel the sun burning my neck .
I have had a pain between my shoulder blades for a few days now ,it seems to get worse the more time i spend on my feet doing things ,when i wake in the morning i'm fine and some times if i move wrong it shoots a pain between the shoulder blades ,
It feels like it tightens across my back and i need to give a big burp , i think i'll see how it goes over the next few days if it's no better i'll go and see the doctor .

Jane that's rotten having all that pain ,i thought the new tablets were helping ok when you first had them ,it does sound as if you need some thing stronger .
Poor little Benji i bet he was scared ,Jess will be keeping an eye on him now when she walks him , she must have been really worried when he shot off like that .

That's a shame about the car Frank ,fancy having the bungalow standing empty all this time .and her fathers house too .
Thats a good idea getting Ros a Trolley case for her sewing machine ,it will make it easier for her to move it about .

Jane

Jane Report 5 Apr 2018 19:18

I have never eaten Tripe either Liz. Do they stil sell it? It looks so disgusting. But Dad and Janice loved it. Saying that I don't Janice would touch it now LOL .
Back in the day ,it used to be the Brides Parents that paid for the wedding. These days though things have changed . The average cost of a wedding these days is supposed to be over £20,000 . The mind boggles. I did find the receipt of our reception that my parents paid for not so long ago.I can't remember now what it was but it was in the low hundreds rather than the thousands like these days. I was thinking of the saying Something Old Something New Something Borrowed and Something Blue. . My Weding Dress is still in a box on the top of my wardrobe and has never seen the light of day since 1981.I was thinking of taking a bit of lace from it so maybe she might be able to somehow have it sewn in to her wedding dress(in the hem or somewhere like that). Just an idea .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 Apr 2018 20:40

If it is that wil be the third person with gall bladder problems I think.

Got all my washing in and ironed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I got married mum and dad did my flat up and bought me things for the kitchen as I did'nt have a big wedding. Hubby had been married before. I had a fridge and kitchen cupboards and the flat was all ecoratd how I wanted it. Mum and dad owned the house and dad made it into two flats. I had the bottom flat as I then had the garden and the parking on the front. It was in Wanstead Park Road Ilford. Frank may know it. In fact I still own the ground the two flats stand on. The flats were sold as leases by mum and dad when we bought the bungalow in Redbridge just up the road from mum and dad.

I once saw tripe in the butchers chop window when I was little and ever since then I can't stand people rubbing there hand over a carpet or stockinged feet turning on a carpet or anything rubbing on anything rough. I just see that horrid creamy white tripe in the butchers window. When I worked at the PDSA cook would do trip for certain of the staff who wanted it. YUK YUK YUK!!!
