Busy old morning here. L rang to have a chat and to say that they will be coming to lunch on Easter Sunday so that's good. OH suggested that we did our weekend shopping today as the shops will be heaving by the end of the week, so we made a list and got up to Waitrose asap! Really glad we did as I got a turkey for Sunday (I know it should be lamb, but there will be 7 of us, 8 if P's boyfriend comes and even a big leg might not have been enough!!) all the veg, and Easter Eggs!! I'm particularly chuffed as I managed to find a soft Peter Rabbit+egg for little boy (he loves P.R!!) so he'll be over the moon, and two packets of malteser rabbits, one each for the girls! so everyone should be happy?!! :-S. L has just taken on another dog! this time it's a 14 month old working cocker. That's three she's now doggy sitting, money for old rope?!!! This afternoon I must get in the washing and get it put away to air, then that will be that for a while! Give Cas a quick run then relax with my book! Yes the main veg patch is finished now Gill and ready for planting out as and when!!

Well I have done it. THE BACK LAWN. What a job. Nor being able to do the last cut because of the wet weather, it was VERY long. I put the setting high and went over it. It didn't look right so lowered the blade and went again. STILL not happy with it, so went down another notch and off I went again. I must add I had a break in between each mow. Finally I have just come in doors. The Green Bin is nigh on full with grass. Ros is tidying up the front garden. Taking out the blind Daffs, and replacing them with ones that are in flower, they are the little ones the name of which evades me at the moment.
The patch that Ros put on my back is still as hot as an oven. It has big ties that go round your waist to hold it in position. I didn't bother, I just tucked the ends in my underpants.I do feel that it has done some good.
George didn't open any presents yesterday, I expect Brian will do that for him today, when he visits, which he does every day. Plus he has the carers going in to get him up and dressed in the morning and I believe they call during the day, and in the evening. Martine cooks all his meals for the week on Saturday afternoons, so he only needs to pick that he fancies, and pop it in the Microwave. Brian made me chuckle yesterday. He said it took him ages to teach George to use the microwave. Now he is teaching him how to use the DVD player and how to change his films. At 100 years old it must be difficult to make in.
When resting on the chair at the bottom of the garden, I see that DENNIS has blocked off the gab in the fence to stop the little dog they have, from being into our garden. Roa would love her to come through and come and see her. She loves the little thing to bits. <3 <3 <3
I bet it was quite warm sitting out for lunch Jane. I had to take my light fleece off while mowing, which reminds me it's somewhere in the garden. I mustn't forget to bring the in. I hope you all had a nice lunch and NOT too much wine. !!! ;-) ;-) ;-)
Liz, we would normally get a turkey if the family were coming for Easter. As there is only J & C. Ros and I a leg of lamb will be alright. I hope you enjoy having L with you and the children. More dog sitting. That might be a good side line for me, as I rarely go out, and would be company for me. Does L have to walk them as well ??? Like me, I see you enjoy reading. I will be going back to my book when I leave here.
Roast Pork tonight, as we didn't have a meal yesterday. in fact I haven't had anything for almost 24 hours, no wonder I am loosing a bit of weight. ;-) ;-) ;-) I did all the veg this morning, so they only need boiling or steaming. I will get the roasts and parsnips in part way though the pork roasting. I still have the Gravy to make. I mustn't forget that. No Yorkshire today, Ros isn't the bothered.
I really can't believe what a smashing day this has turned out to be. While rising between mowing I sat at the patio Table with a couple of tins of Coke to drink. NOW THAT has to be a FIRST for me. ;-) ;-) ;-) It would normally be a couple of beers. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I hope those of you that can, and have it, enjoy this beautiful sunshine. SPRING IS HERE I hope. But looking towards the Easter weekend I think we are in for some bad weather. Cheerful old Bu@@er aren't I ???

Hic! Hic! Lunch was a hit :-D.. The sun was so warm (for most of the time) but when it went in the jackets went on.I did quite a spread . Pizza,Quiche, some fancy Japanese Chicken bites,Posh Sausage Rolls, Salad,Parma Ham and Bread Sticks and of course wine :-D. We have got through far more than we should have. I blame Fitz :-D ;-) I don't think Chris and I will need to eat much (if anything) tonight. Just as Fitzy was leaving the phone rang and it was my old school Headmaster from Primary School :-D Just for a chat and catchup . He is 87 next month .Still growing a lot of his own veg and fruit and enjoying going ot car boot sales selling and buying. He said his wife says he has to stop buying and just concentrate on the selling :-D
What a lovely party George had Frank. To have the cake as a replica of the Regiment Badge and the the men from the regiment too wearing their medals must have just been the most amazing thing for him,and him wearing his medals too :-D :-D.What a day for him :-D :-D :-D I bet he is still on a high LOL. But probably totally exhausted after such a special occassion. 100 years old. I don't think I will reach anywhere near that great age. I do remember years ago being told by a Clairvoyant I would live till 92 ....watch this space :-D :-D
I have done nothing today other than go and get flowers for Fitz's OH's birthday and do lunch. Tomorrow morning I have an appointment to have my eyebrows tidied and a bit of electrolysis on my chinny chin chin . I am not gowing a beard but just have a few bits of unwanted whiskers that seem determined to show themselves . I don't want to use your Razor Frank :-D :-D :-D.. Hope your finger is ok now.

I did do a little bit of ironing but then it was time to get lunch so there is still a good sized pile in the uti room. It will still be there when I want to do some more but its shopping day tomorrow so it won't be then.
I have had a bit of a tidy up with my craft bits and pieces this afternoon as I keep getting things out and not putting them away. Then I can't find what I need for the next project.
Lunch sounded good Jane and the wine flowed too I see. Did you have a little snooze after?
My hands have gone all rough again which is usually a sign that the weather is going to get cold again. I hope not but they do say colder at the weekend so we'll see.
Oh lost a bit off the mower deck whiklst putting it back together after lunch and do you think we could find it. We both looked and he put his extending magnet around and under the bench but no luck so he made one from an alan key.
I see you have manicured lawns now Frank. Once you've cut it it grows more so it will be a weekly job now for the rest of the year. Oh tested the mower deck he put back together and it mows lovely now and its all freshly painted for the season.
Have to find something for dinner so its a dive down the freezer to see what I can find thats quick. I hav'nt got used to this forward hour yet!!!!!

Good morning to you all,
Rain here this morning, so I am pleased I got the back lawn done.
My finger is still blasted up, I took them off yesterday but kept catching it. (always the way) So I had to put fresh plasters on. As soon as I get in the shower the Blooming things will come off. If someone could invent plasters that can withstand water. THEY WOULD MAKE A FORTUNE. ;-) ;-) ;-)
The heat pad Ros put on me yesterday morning, was still hot when I went to bed at 10.30. I took it off then, as it would have been cold in the night an disturbed me.
Well you were lucky having a "GARDEN PARTY" in March Jane. I knew someone would be blamed for the excess Wine consumed. !!! Poor old Fitz. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I bet old GEORGE is still on cloud NINE. We will have to ring Martine tonight to see if he is alright after all his excitement :-D :-D
Carolyn has an 11.00 am appointment at the Doctors this morning, so they will be late going shopping.
Glad your OH was able to make the bit he lost for the mower. What's the betting, he will find it now he has made another part. :-P :-P :-P.
After my shower I will be sat with my book, while Madam is out shopping. I have made a list of things I need in the kitchen and Vegetables.
I don't expect any of you will be gardening today, if you have weather like me. !!!

Morning Frank and all,
Right miserable here this morning, cloudy and a bit windy and wet looking out there. h shan't be doing any mowing today thats for sure.
Shopping day for me so I won't be around much till this evening. Ha the S did'nt come out when I typed Shopping so it read hopping. Thats too exhausting for me to do its bad enough walking around the shop.
I wonder if oh's cider is in yet as they hav'nt had it in Morrisons for the last three weeks. Luckily I had some hidden away which lasted till last week when I had to go to Mole Valley and they had some so I bought the last 4 bottles for him in there.

Off out in a minute to have lunch with P, L and friend. Can't believe P is 18! It only seems like yesterday that we were chasing up the motorway from Exmoor to greet the new baby!! She's grown into such a lovely kind, clever, compassionate girl, doing well at college, and really focused on her future! As you can see we are very proud of her. No mowing done here yet, but the lawn is only small, the rest OH will do with the ride on as and when. Must go!!

Have a nice day shopping Mel, and a nice Lunch for you and Ian Liz,
Have just taken two books round to Tony, He's laid out on the Sofa and Val is in the chair with a blanket over her. Anybody would think it's mid winter.
I had an old mower in the garage that started smoking last year when I went to use it. I told it."You are not old enough to smoke" lol lol. Anyway as the Black bin was almost empty, I managed to ge the mower in the bin hoping they would take it away. Which I am pleased to say they did. That £5.00 at Christmas does get you a few favours ;-) ;-) ;-)
Simon has been on the phone this morning. He has been under the weather recently. He had a lump come up in his groin, so went to the Drs. He didn't think is was anything to get alarmed about, and gave him a course of Anti-Biotics, which seems to have cleared it up. I told him to check himself regularly, and if it comes back, to get back to the Doctors. He is hoping to get on his Narrow Boat over the Easter break, which will be nice for them. They do work hard with long hours, but it's nice to see they benefit from it all.
Madam has gone shopping, so I will settle down with my book again.
Cold Pork, mash and Veg for tonight. I will do that later.

Afternoon all
It's been pouring down with rain here this morning, but thankfully has stopped now.
No gardening here Frank, it's far to wet. I think it's a good idea to keep the plaster on your finger if you keep catching it. It'll also protect it against any infection.
A bit of your ironing done then Mel, at least it's out of sight in the uti. I laughed when you said it would be to exhausting to hop around the shops. Hope you find OH's cider for him. Good job you had some hidden away ;-)
It sounds like you had a lovely lunch with Fitz Jane, I bet you slept well with all the wine you had.
So you're off to lunch today I see Liz, hope the weather isn't to wet. Have a nice time :-) Pleased to see your veg patch is sorted now ready for all the planting. All you need now is the good weather.
We got the quote for the new gate last night, almost £400, but he does do a good job, the quote for the side fence is £220 which next door said she'd go halves with so that's not to bad. We haven't had a quote for the front fence yet, the fella said he'd measure up when he comes to do the gate. I had a word with the old lady's daughter this morning about her side gate and she has decided to have it done at the same time we have ours. The fella is busy at the moment with another job and then he's away in France for a few days so the job won't be done until after 8th April. It'll give us some time to save up a bit more as it was slightly over what we thought it would cost.
We have made a start on emptying the kitchen cupboards so we can changed the doors and draws, but with the kitchen being quite small there's not a lot of room to move in there so we think the job is going to be a bit awkward and might take a little longer to do than we first thought. I need to sort out the measurements for the hinges and door handles. I hope I get it right and don't mess it up. :-S

Good luck with your measuring Gill. Make sure you get all the handles level. I would do those once the doors are on.
Watched The Durrels last night and it made me laugh when the ubdertaker asked her to bring him back some Marmite when she went to England. It reminded me of my best Friend who moved to France. She loved Cadbury's drinking chocolate but could'nt get it over there so I sent her some by post. Sadly she died a few years ago now but we were best buddies from school and will always be remembered with happy memories of the times we spent together and down the stables and she came on holiday to Devon with us once when we were in our teens. Whilst there I was carving a stick with a horses hoof on the end and Lynda walked round me and tripped over the end of the stick. The penknife slipped and cut my finger on the base of my index finger on my left hand rather badly. Just at that moment my mum and dad came over the fence into the field we had been in and I had had my hand over the cut and when I showed my dad and took my hand away the cut opened up like an eye!! Dad shot me back to the manor house we were staying at and cleaned it and bandaged it for me and put my fingers in like a slpint with cardboard to keep it closed. I still have the scar to this day.

Afternoon all,
Dreary here today it's been raining most of the morning ,yesterday was a lovely sunny day we were busy in the garden cutting back and tidying up ,we took the rubbish from the garden to the tip in the afternoon , I also got all the window sills washed and the front door they were so dirty ,i think a lot of muck has come from the building site where they are building the new flats ,the lorries keep up and down the road and they had also dug part of the road up to put pipes in and that left a lot of dry mud on the road . We sat out and had our cuppa in the afternoon and the sun was so warm ,when you think it was only just over week ago that we had snow !!!!
Oh Frank that poor sore finger of yours ,makes me cringe when i think of you cutting it with the razor :-0 I bet the birthday boy was worn out the next day, just talking can be tiring especially at the great old age of 100 .
So still busy Gill :-D will the chap make the new gate Gill or have you got to buy a gate for him to fit ? I have no idea how much some thing like that would cost as Colin usually does all our odd jobs ,we're lucky really that he can turn his hand to most things .
We're having a bit of a lazy day today although i have turned out one wardrobe this morning ,cleaned and polished and put the things back in ,i sorted out some things for the clothing bank so we'll take them next time we go out .
Tomorrow morning i have to go for the yearly blood test and then in the afternoon i have to meet the Estate Agent at my friends bungalow so he can measure up ready for it can go on the market . Thursday we have Katie coming to stay for the night so Max will be excited he goes silly when the children come .
Chicken breasts for us for tonight just got to decide how to cook them ,think it might be Cajun chicken, nice and spicy .

I daren't do spicy food for Ros, She has this thing that if she eas spicy foods it sends her mouth all funny. I think it's called Licenplanis (SP) Someone ill know what I mean.
I have just had a break from my book, and had a cot and a chochy biscuit (well 6) !!! Lovely thay were too. Naughty but nice. ;-) ;-) ;-)
It's still raining here. It's been like it all day. You never seem to get two days the same. :-P :-P :-P I've done the veg for tonight. Swede, cabbage, carrots and boiled Parsnips, which Ros likes, plus spuds for mashing.
No sign of her MAJESTY I expect they are round the supermarket and garden centre. MORE EXPENSE I expect. lol lol
I got a case of beer out of the boot of the car yesterday. (she always keeps a spare case there) and I found a new TOASTER. When I enquired what it was doing there, she replied, it was for the kitchen when she decorates it. NEWS to me. She's already bought a new kettle, so she knows what she wants and appears to know the colour scheme she will have also. Why am I the last to know. !!!!
Back to my book now. Lovely not having the TELE on. PEACE AND QUIET. !!!!

I wonder what else Ros might have bought that you don't know about Frank LOL Us ladies are very good at that kind of thing :-D I laughed my socks off at you email this morning (the dentist one)
Filthy morning here .It was pouring with rain at 4am when Thomas wanted out. Needless to say he didnt go :-S But by 5.40 when he woke me again it was just light rain and off he went. I made myself a cuppa and took it back to the spare bed where I could watch Hospital (that I missed last night ) on my laptop. We were so lucky yesterday to be able to spend so much time over lunch sitting out.We weren't that bad with the wine but 3 empty bottles did end up in the recycling bin :-D
What Cider does OH have Mel? I can't drink Cider. I had too much Scrumpy back in my youth :-S Any Apple based drinks now I just can't do.
Busy day for you tomorrow Mandy with the blood test and then meeting the estate agent. Hopefully you won't have to hang around too long while he does all the measuring up etc.
Sounds like a big lump of money you are going to have to fork out for your Gate and fencing Gill. At least the neighbour will go halves on the fence.None of these 'jobs' are cheap are they. But if you know it will be done well then it will money well spent.
Chris and Me are off to the cinema tomorrow in Northampton to see Finding your Feet. We will have lunch beforehand at 'ASK' (you know that one Frank)
How is John doing Anne? Hopefully all good .He has made a miraculous recovery. Hopefully he will be well enough to get that holiday in once the defib is fitted .

I bought a huge piece of beef for £11 39 which will do us too good dinners plus a bit for a sandwich. I shall cut it in half and bung it in the freezer.
Just had my blood test Mandy so thats out of the way for another year. Do they take your blood pressure too? I hope you don't have to wait about too long for the estate agent. They have these digital things for measuring now so it should'nt take that long to do the whole place.

Is the Beef on offer in Morrisons Mel ? i usually buy a large piece and cut it in half .
It's just the blood test tomorrow and i have to take a water sample with me ,then i have another appointment in about two weeks for the result and she usually takes my blood pressure then .

Morning all,
We have sunshine and fine rain too. Blue sky with whitish grey clouds out the front and grey clouds out the back with the sun shining through when it gets a gap.
Mandy you asked about the beef being on off in Morrisons. The piece I bought was in that shrink wrap thick polythene. I have had it before and its usually nice. I did ask the butcher what cut it was as I don't buy silverside. It is top rump and nicely marbled. It cut up to two pieces, one being 2. 1/2 lbs and the other 2. 1/4 lbs. They are b oth in the freezer now.
Woke late today so I must get on with something.

Good Morning FAIR MAIDENS.
Another horrible day here. It was raining when I got up at 5.00 am YES FIVE am. We had words last night. I went into the conservatory with my beers and to watch the football. By 8.45 I was bored so went to bed. I was asleep about 9.00 pm. At least I wasn't bored with the soaps. !!!
I get told I wrap myself round the quilt and sheet in bed. Well at 5.00 am this morning I felt the bedclothes being pulled off me. I said in not a very nice tone. "If you want the B@@@dy cloths, then have them !!! and got up.
I had three large breakfast cups of tea, and finished my book. Her ladyship came out about 8.30 while I was sitting back in my armchair, with my eyes shut. She got her own tea this morning (what a change that is)
Roa spoke with Martine last night. When Brian went to see George Monday morning. He had 54 birthday cards on display on HIS CARPET in the lounge. Brian picked them all up, and found space around the room, to put them. When he asked George what he wanted for lunch, he said, I am to excited to eat. Them Brian noticed EMPTY box's of CHOCOLATES on the table. That's why you aren't hungry. !!!
I don't know that place ASK Jane, where is it. ?? Hope you enjoyed your film. Why didn't Fitz go with you like he normally does ??
Mandy I never know what Ros is bringing into the house. If it's for the garden, i's straight out of the car and round the back. If it's cloths, they go straight into the bedroom. All other either comes in the kitchen or left in the car/boot. The way I think of it, if she needs it, she buys it lol lol It's only MONEY after all is said and done. ;-) ;-)
I have spoken to both my Sister and SIL this morning. My sister had to throw her birthday flowers out yesterday. I don't know if the was a hint for more to be sent. lol. My Nephew Stephen, Bill's son, was sent home from hospital on Friday. He's not good, and is on Oxygen most of the time. I don't know if he will ever be right.
Going to get an early lunch and coffee, as I haven't eaten yet today.
