Afternoon All

No e-card Frank! I know sometimes when Liz has sent them they don't get through either.
Enjoy the birthday party :-D. How long will you stay? It has been a lovely sunny morning here and warm enough to sit out.Thomas has been rolling around on the patio and stretching out in the sun. He has just wandered off down the garden now. Chris is busy doing things in the Greenhouse.

Gill ,I don't think you ever rest LOL . I see yet another busy day on the cards today :-D I am glad you are enjoying your new CD.There are some lovely songs on it.

Mel ,it must be frustrating with the ground being so wet still and not being able to get things done, but at least you are enjoying doing your felting :-D

I went over to Rushen Lakes earlier to change a couple of tops in M&S,and get some food in the Food Hall there. I got some nice meat 25% off so that is in the freezer now.The place wasn't too busy when I got there just after 11 but when I came away there was a long line of cars going in.
I am just eating some Scampi that I realised was one day out of date in the fridge. It should be ok.I hope so as I have just finished it now :-D. Very nice it was too.

Roast Beef for us tonight . I have already cooked the Beef and that is all sliced and in a dish covered with lovely gravy.I just need to get the Potatoes and Veg prepared. The Yorkshires I have bought. Not the frozen ones.

Have a lovely afternoon everyone

Just had the e-card through from Liz. It is lovely Frank :-D

I've sent the card on Frank - hope it gets there!! Thanks for the muddy water warning. We do try and keep Cas away from puddles, but we'll be extra vigilant now!
Jobs finished for today! Lunch, then maybe a film or a snooze, or both!!!

Gillx Report 25 Mar 2018 14:52

My neighbour has asked me to say thank you to you Frank for letting us know about dogs and muddy water, I told him about it as he has a lovely little dog that means the world to him. I must admit I'd never heard of Alabama rot and neither had he, but he is thankful he knows now and said he won't take his dog to the allotment for now.

Yes, Liz I was enjoying my new CD until it came to the end of CD one and it started jumping. OH took it back to the shop and exchanged it for another one which seems to be okay. I'll listen to CD two when the F1 is over as the race is about to start now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2018 16:06

Thanks for forwarding Frank's ecard Liz and its a good one.Your ground looks quite dry. I wish ours was. Ours is either too wet or too dry and like concrete. I need to cut all the dead down on the border as I always leave it to give the plants protection and they certainly needed it with all the snow we had.

Had our big breakfast and oh has the grand prix on but has been upset by Vettels pit stop and the restart of the race.

Jane

Jane Report 25 Mar 2018 16:32

I heard about the Alabama Rot the other day on the tv. The more people are aware of it hopefully all the lovely dogs will stay safe.
Has anyone been watching Pilgrimage The road to Santiago ? It is so good. I have just watched Fridays one again .To walk so far and for so long takes some guts and determinaton . I would love to do it on a Donkey or a Horse LOL . Neil Morrisey,Debbie Magee,Ed Byrne, Kate(The vicar off Gogglebox) and others I dont know are doing this walk.
I needed a sit down after cleaning the stair carpet and giving the loos a good going over.(any excuse :-D). I have been able to do a lot more physically today than I have for a long time. These new tablets for my Sciatica and low back pain seem to be helping. It's only day 3 but the pain is much less and I have been walking upright too today.

Fitz is coming for lunch tomorrow .I must remember though in the morning to go and buy some flowers for his OH's Birthday which is tomorrow. If I had only thought earlier I could have got them today when I was out .
It is still sunny here. It's been a beautiful Spring day :-D........and there is talk of snow next week :-S :-S

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 25 Mar 2018 17:22

Lunch done and dusted!! OH is watching 'Shed and buried'!! He has got his headphones on though so I can read in peace!
Our ground is mostly clay Mel, which makes it either sticky and heavy, or like concrete, but it does drain away easily! Not quite sure what will be planted where; Once we've moved the veg cage we'll have more idea what we're about!
My hyacinths have finally gone over and are now in the greenhouse, waiting to be dried and eventually replanted. The little Trug will doubtless be useful.

I feel sorry for Hamilton Mel with Vettel's pit stop. I think Vettel was just lucky with there being a virtual safety car and everyone having to drive slower. Let's hope Hamilton has better luck in two weeks time at the next race. Just noticed online that Toto Wolfe thinks it might of been a glitch in the software that caused Hamilton not to win. Let's hope it's sorted before the next race.

It's been sunny here today too Jane, it's so hot in the greenhouse. I opened the door for a while and gave all the plants a good watering. Yes, I noticed on the weather we're in for some more snow :-( I hope we don't have any here.

No I haven't been watching that programme Jane. Pleased to see your meds are keeping the pain down, you must be so relieved :-)

Love the pictures Liz. Cas is looking as cute as ever, bless her. Is that the new veg patch your OH is doing?

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 25 Mar 2018 18:41

No Gill, that patch is well used!! The new patch is outside our bedroom window. We grew the runner beans there last year this year we've put some garlic in which is doing well, and I think the potatoes will be put there this year!
OH has taken Cas up to the field for a final run. I'm watching Country File, then later on 'Return to the Chateaux', apart from that ?!!!

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day ,nearly warm enough to sit out ,family came this morning and little Katie came in with a card she had made ,on the front is drawings of us and she even added a drawing of Max in side she had written " I love you Nanny and Grandad because Nanny makes yummy cakes and Grandad makes Stuff and Max is silly :-D bless her ,i shall keep that in my draw with all the other bits they make .

Hope Frank and Ros have enjoyed the party ,what a great age the old gentleman is ,i bet he loved the DVD's
Thanks for mentioning about the muddy puddles Frank ,i forgot to mention it to my sister today when we went to see her ,it's her birthday today .
Neil her son was there he is out of hospital now but still has the tube going into the top of his arm and up to a vein in his neck and down to his heart and has to go to the doctors to have his Antibiotics dripped in ,i think he said it takes about half an hour .

I feel really tired today , i had a good book i wanted to finish reading in bed last night so it was late by the time i put the light off .

Did anyone now see the lovely little glass owl the lady made on Country File .?

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 25 Mar 2018 19:32

I should have Mandy, but sadly I went to sleep!!! OH did though, he says it was fascinating! Just seen the forecast though :-( 'When the days grow longer, the cold gets stronger' is an old country saying! Looks like its true this year!!!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Mar 2018 19:41

Didn't watch Countryfile this week Mandy so didn't see the glass owl :-( it sounds nice though. We decided to have another go at watching Everest as we couldn't get into it last night. Managed to get in to it today though. It was a true story with a mix of a sad and happy ending. The first hour dragged on a bit but if you can get through that part it's well worth watching.

What a lovely card you got off Katie, loved what she's written inside. I've kept lots of things my children made when they were little. Good to hear Neil is out of hospital, how long does he have to have the tube in for? It's amazing the things that can be done nowadays isn't it?
Hope you have a good nights sleep tonight and wake up fresh as a daisy lol. I've had plenty of late nights, so know how draining it can be the following day.
As Jane says I don't do a lot of resting LOL.

Yes, hope Frank and Ros had a good time at the party.

Oh I see Liz, he looked like he was working hard, I bet the clay soil was difficult to get through though with all the bad weather we've had lately. Has he finished that bit now? I've never heard that saying before about the weather. Hope it's not to cold again next week.

We didn't realise Masterchef is on tonight so we're just about to watch the last one I recorded so we can watch tonight's later. Good job I record them all.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2018 21:51

Oh mower the lawn outside the kitchen window and the big west lawn too this afternoon. Thats the first cut of the year for us.

I save Country File for Saturday nights but I am a bit behind with them at the mo. I shall watch them in the week on catch up.

I did some felting this afternoon but still can't show you because its the second one I have made like the one I have made for a present.

Oh has been watch ing the program about the planes and the RAF. I wonder if Frank has seen it. Hope he had a nice time at the party this afternoon and that the birthday boy enjoyed his presents.

Gill was'nt that awful that race this afternoon. I don't think its fair that Vettel was aloud to speed out of the garage to get back on track. They ahve done this before when a safety car has been out and oh commented on it then.

Mandy the card sounded lovely and definately one to keep.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 25 Mar 2018 22:34

We watched that programme about the RAF and it was really very interesting, well worth watching.
We're in bed now, our busy morning has caught up with us!

Morning all,

Sunny here again this morning after a frosty night.

Have you missed your hour you lost Saturday night?

I have a pile of ironing to do today and need to clean some windows.

Frank

Frank Report 26 Mar 2018 10:44

Good morning my little sweet things, xxx

You have been busy chatting away.

I see your BIL is on the mend Mandy. Les hope he will be fit and back on his feet propper before too long.

I didn't see the RAF planes. I will go on catch up and find it later. I did watch Country File. I try not to miss it. The woman with the glass was incredible . The SPIDER she made was so lifelike, it would scare most people if the saw that on their carpet. !!!

Everything went to plan eventually. When Martine went to pick up the sandwiches from Morrison's, they said they knew nothing about the order. She asked for the Manager, and his immediate reaction was "THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN PLAYING UP, THAT'S WHY YOUR ORDER DIDN'T COME THROUGH" When Martine showed him the 50% receipt and a copy of the order, he didn't know what to say. Anyway, he had the sandwiches made on the spot, and offered to deliver them to the venue. When she went to pay the remaining amount owed, he said Have that on us, for the inconvenience. Which was a very nice gesture.

The place was heaving with people when we got there. We were able to find a table by the window in the sunshine, so we were quite happy not to be amongst the crowd. When "GEORGE" arrived on the arm of his Nephew , a resounding cheer went up, and the poor old chap was so surprised. They had an armchair by the fire for him, which he soon settled down in. The (BUFFET) was excellent, I didn't think there would be enough to go round, but after everybody and eaten there was a few bits and bobs left over. We all sang "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" as George cut his cake, which was a copy of the NORTHAMPTON REGIMENT BADGE. There were couple of chaps there from the regiment in their berets and medals. GEORGE had his on his chest and wore them with PRIDE. He had worked as a "CLICKER" for 52 years at CHURCHES SHOE COMPANY. They sent a letter and a cheque for £100.00 and a copy of his employment record. Which was all passed round for everyone to read.

We came away, when others started to leave, it was about 5.00 pm so we had a good three hours there siting in the afternoon sun, and enjoying a few pints. IT'S great not being able to drive. Hic Hic.(not really) lol

I thought the Burrell's was a little better last night. I do like the hospital series.

I don't know what I have done to my back. The lower back is giving me so much discomfort. Roa has put a Heat Pad on it this morning, so will see if ha does any good.

What a silly thing I did yesterday morning while shaving. In over 65 years I have never done anything so STUPID. I wiped my finger on the side of my face by the sideburn, instead of dipping my finger in the water to wash the soap of, I wiped my RAZOR over my finger. It took two nice slices out of my index finger. It would no stop bleeding. I kept whipping it in toilet tissue, finally I cut h finger out of a disposable glove and put that over the tissue hat was covering the finger. It's sill on. I will take it off soon and put a plaster on.

I spoke with my sister yesterday morning. The flowers I sent for her Birthday are still going strong, she is so pleased.

I seem to have been on here for ages, so will push off, and hope you are all well and have "A NICE DAY"

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2018 11:16

Morning all

Lovely and sunny again today.

It sounds like you had a wonderful time Frank. How nice for George to see everyone. Was it a surprise party for him? You said he looked surprised when he came in with his nephew. The cake was a good idea with his regiment badge on it and to have a couple of his friends from the regiment there to, how lovely.
How is your finger today, these things are easily done aren't they? Hope it's not to sore.

So it's ironing day today Mel? That's one job I'm not keen on. No, I haven't missed the hour I lost as I woke up an hour earlier than I usually do, so didn't lose it in the end lol.

We were going to make a start on the kitchen today but OH has had to go out so it'll have to wait for another day now. Not sure what I'm going to do with myself now :-S I have a tiny bit of painting to do over the filler I did yesterday in the back room, but that'll take all of 2 minutes to do. I have gone through the bills that have been posted to us and put them in my file, so that job's out of the way, but again a 2 minute job. So at the moment I'm scrabbling around trying to find things to occupy myself with. I would of done a bit of gardening as there are lots of leaves around and weeds but the bin doesn't get emptied until tomorrow and it's full to the brim so I'd have nowhere to put the rubbish, so I can't do that. It looks like it might be the TV for Sandra and I for now. I do have quite a lot on the planner which would of needed watching anyway, there is hardly any space on it for the new recordings. I can clean the kitchen handles at the same time while I watch it. I kept them as they are in good nick and handles are really expensive to buy, so why not use the old ones I say ;-)

Morning Everyone on this beautiful sunny day. This just a quick one from me as I seem to be all behind and I need ot get lunch ready for when Fitz gets here. Chris has cleaned off the Patio table and chairs so we will be eating outside :-D :-D

See you later

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Mar 2018 12:19

Are you always BEHIND Jane? My behind is always behind.

Its come over a bit cloudy here now but its still bright if you know what I mean.

Gill did you finish your sewing, if not you could do that today.

It sounds like the party for George was a great success and to have people from his regiment there was great. The cake sounded really nice to have his badge on it. You did'nt say if he liked his present Frank.

Must get on as I hav'nt done any ironing yet.

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2018 14:15

No Mel I haven't started my sewing yet, to be honest I forgot all about it. Thanks for reminding me.

I'm watching the TV trying to catch up with all my programmes. At the moment I'm watching Alan Titchmarsh "Secrets of the National Trust" I've recorded them from the beginning and only watched the one on the workhouse, so now I'm watching the rest of them. They're very interesting.

I'm also bobbing in to the back room every now and then to finish the bit of painting in there. Just put another coat on, hopefully that'll be the last one, if not I should only need to do one more coat. Sandra wanted to read one of the books she bought the other week. Once I've finished watching Alan, I'll see if she wants to watch something off the planner with me, if not then I have other programmes I can watch instead.

Have you done your ironing? How are you getting on with your felting, is it playing nicely now? ;-)

Hope the weather stayed nice for Jane and Fitz's lunch outside.
