Morning all,
Sounds like you have had the weather we had yesterday. Its sunshine in spells here but at least its dry. The washing is in and I am now going to feed the birds and have a COC.
I am going to do some housework today as its been left with me doing my felting. There is also a lot or ironing waiting to be done in the uti room so I better get myself into gear and do some.
Good job on the castors Frank even if it did take you a while its a good job done. Shame you cold'nt do the mirror though but the thought was there. Enjoy your book.

Thanks Mel,
Chicken stuffed , with added parsley and onion. Veg and spuds all done. Food caddy emptied. I will be meeting myself coming back lol lol
Had a silly trip a little earlier. Went to go out into the conservatory and went A over H tripped over the Bl@@@y step. Fortunately Ros has mats on the floor, so they broke my fall. No damage done, just "ALL SHOOK UP" Elvis. !!
Going to get some lunch, as I haven't eaten, or taken my tablets. Naughty Boy I hear Mel say. !!!

Well, I managed to finally get to the end of the thread so I can read the posts. It's been terrible today trying to get on here.
The roofer has been and I've just seen the weather forecast for tomorrow onwards and it doesn't look good so I hope we don't have anymore problems with the roof. The carpenter came round but wants us to cut back the plants and hedge. He said he'd take the hedge roots out if needs be to put the new fence posts in, so at least we won't have that heavy job to do. He also took a look at a few jobs that need doing indoors and will ring me with all the quotes in a couple of days, then we need to work out which ones to have done first. We're thinking of the fencing then we can get on with the gardening while he's doing something else like the gate or the kitchen.
OH is going to put everything up in the loft now so I can sort out the bedroom and make it tidy again. So we're getting there with all the jobs and hopefully everything will be finished soon so we can get back to normal again.
Sorry to see you had a fall Frank at least you weren't hurt. The job you were doing sounds a right pain, I bet you're glad it's finished now?

Good afternoon all
A nice day today with a little sunshine as yesterday was a little rainy.
The news about John looks a little more promising after having a lot of tests, scans etc they couldn't find anything that points to the problem but obviously he will need more observation. He is only a little bit older than Richard being in his mid fifties.
Frank pleased to hear there wasn't any damage done after your fall but being shaken up is not nice.
Had my Sainsbury delivery this morning at 8.30, I'm so glad I have it delivered as it took me quite a while to put it all away, Ruby has to go in her cage while I'm doing this as she does love to "help" I have also deep cleaned both the washing machine and dishwasher should do it once a month as we are in a hard water area here but don't always do it.
Just had a letter from the council about the charges for council tax starting next month, it has gone up £9.00 a month we are on Band D.
Mel please don't even think about closing your thread.
Gill one less problem as your roof seems to be ok now, but you are keeping busy as usual

Don't you DARE think of closing the THREAD. It's my daily thing to get things off my chest, and see how all you dear ladies are, and what you are doing. I know I am the only MAN on here now, but I still enjoy reading what you all get up to.
Glad your roof is now repaired Gill, that's another worry off your mind. How long is the hedge you are taking out ?? is a privet or something else. I remember when I had my hedge out at Gayton. It must have been 70/80 foot long and about 6 foot high. My dear neighbour saw me trying to get the first bit out. He came out with his tractor and a long chain. He put the chain round the bottom of each bush and pulled them out. He was kind enough to drag them down to his field, stack them all up and set light to the lot. I then replanted the hedge with small conifers. Which I think are still there, but not kept low like I had it.
We did have a lot of rain this afternoon, glad to say it's stopped now and is drying up. I have green thumb coming in the morning to give the lawns their Spring Treatment.
I have heard from Ros that were leaving B'Ham at 3.30 so should be home for 4.30/5.00 pm. She said they have all enjoyed their day.

Gill, if you try going up the thread in batches of 400 posts at a time, you can eventually reach the current post, if you see what I mean! I know it was not your intention or anyone else's come to that, to get the thread closed down permanently, (your comments make that quite obvious!!) and that you were only putting forward a suggestion to make access to it easier. Try the above (if you want to!) It may well help! <3 Glad to hear that you are getting some help with your heavy jobs - they can get a bit overwhelming at times!!

Afternoon All
FRank I see the leader of the Council is finally stepping down. Oh what a mess we are in in this County !!!!!! The worst County Council in the whole of the Country :-S :-S Heaven knows who it is all going to be sorted.
So a big tumble today! . You havent had one like that for a while on that step. I bet Ros has had a lovely day at the NEC and no doubt spent a pretty penny :-D
Roof done now then Gill, just in time before more bad weather. That was good timing :-D. I hope you are happy with the quotes from this other chap for all the things you want doing.
I would see no point really in shutting down this thread and starting again. Its strange how some of us can't get to the last page.It doesnt make sense as I always get to the last one . I just click on General Chat then click on our thread and then again on Post Date and it takes me to the last page and post.
Anne, this is good news about John. He may not be out of the woods yet but at least it is some positive news :-D.I think still an extremely worrying time though for all the family and friends.
I have had my hair cut this afternoon. What a palaver getting there.Temporary road works and traffic lights seem to have popped all over the place. I thought I was going to be late but made it by the skin of my teeth. I will make sure I take a different route tomorrow morning when I gpo for my Eye test.
The doorbell rang at 8.20 this morning. It was Al from next door(the one who had been to Australia). They got home on Monday. He wanted to know if we heard anything in the night as the windows in his workshop had been smashed. Luckliy he had moved all his power tools into the house when they went away and he hadn't yet put them back out in the workshop,so nothing was actually stolen. It seems very odd that they have had several attemped break ins from the sheds'workshop etc over this last year and he had his Motorbike stolen from the drive last year. Mind you he was asking for it really as it was on full view all the time and he hardly ever used it. Well I never heard a thing last night as I slept like a log until 5 when Thomas woke me up.James and Chris never hear anything anyway .They might wake up if the fire alarm went off but other than that anything could happen and they would not know :-S
Tomorrow I REALLY have to get to grips with Cobwebs. I can't and wont describe one whole wall in our ensuite !!!!!!!. I need a lesson in housekeeping :-S :-S

Sorry Mel. What I meant was a new thread we could all talk on that would stop the error page. The thread we are on now is a bit big and doesn't always load properly which stops us getting to the last page. I didn't mean to offend anyone and it was just a thought I also didn't know anyone else had said the same thing. Sorry I hope you will forgive me?

Evening all,
It's been so dreary here today ,we did a little shopping and by the time we came out of Tesco's it was raining . This after noon we went to the hospital to see Colin's sister , when we got there we had to wait to go in as the Physio was in with her, then it was gown up and gloves on before we could go in . She looks so tired and today the Physio told her they don't think she will be able to walk again . She carn't sit up with out help and then has to have some one behind her to hold her up ,her blood pressure was low today so they told her she must have more drink so while we were there she had three small glasses of squash which i had to help her with as she has a problem holding her arms up so carn't get to the glass and drink so no wonder she's not drinking as much as she should .
Oh goodness Frank you would have to go down when Ros is out ,i hope your not to sore after your fall ,did you tell Ros ?
That's good news on the roof Gill , you can relax now knowing the roof is ok .
Sounds as if some one is targeting your next door neighbour Jane , it does seem odd it's always their place that has the trouble .
Anne that's very sad about Richard's friend fingers crossed they can get him better So Ruby likes to help with sorting the shopping :-D Max likes to get his nose into the shopping bags ,he can smell any treats from a mile off.
I don't want to talk it up but i've had no trouble getting on the thread lately ,i do as Jane does ,one thing i never do is sign out .

Mandy sorry to hear that your SIL may not be fit enough to walk again, how horrible to be told that and have such bad mobility problems too
I never log off of Genes either and only get the error message when going into the entire site.
John is now speaking again but can't remember anything about his collapse. They are now waiting for a bed in the Cardiac ward where they will do more tests he is still in intensive care at the moment.

Morning all
Raining here today and we noticed when the roofers came yesterday and put their ladders up against the gutter it's leaking, OH is up the ladder trying to fix it. We had a slight drip on it but now it's really dripping. I hope he can sort it out as it's splashing on my living room window sill.
We've decided to put the plastic back up in the loft for the weekend with the weather forecast being rain and snow, just to make sure there are no leaks before we put everything back up there.......better to be safe than sorry and it would save us time if there are anymore leaks in taking everything back down again.
I mentioned to the roofers that we'd been getting a water mark occasionally on the back room ceiling so he took a look on the corner of the roof and found an old piece of 1950's lino stuffed up there. Needless to say he took it out and replaced it with a roof tile.
I don't know what OH is doing out there but the water is pouring down onto our living room window sill at the moment. I think he might of took it apart so it can go back together properly.
I think I'll make the final picture today to put up in the living room then apart from the flooring the room will finally be finished.
I need to confirm an appointment OH has online first. It said on the letter if we don't confirm he can make it then he might lose the appointment. I've never come across that before, so I'd better do it as he's not very good with computers.
I got the error page again today so did what you said Jane and clicked on post date. It made the last page the first page, but all the posts are backwards so it's a bit confusing reading them. At least I can read them now and I'm sure I'll get used to it in time. I didn't know what that button was for. Thanks for letting me know about it <3 Sorry to hear about your neighbour he doesn't seem to be having much luck lately does he? Good job his tools were there and nothing was taken, but it must be awful with it happening so often.
The hedge is about 36 foot long and about 4 to 5 foot high Frank, it's very brittle so shouldn't take me long to chop it down. The fella said he wants me to leave about a foot of stump over so he had something to grab hold of to take out what bits he needs to put the posts in, the rest he said he'll just cut back to a few inches under ground. I'm not sure about leaving roots in the ground as the hedge might start growing back, what do you think, is that possible? :-S That was nice of your neighbour to help you with your hedge. Did Ros have a nice time yesterday?
Hope John is still improving Anne, my thoughts are with him and his family.
Sorry to hear about Colin's sister Mandy, I hope things get better for her soon.
Well, I'd better go and sort out this appointment for OH, he's still trying to sort out the guttering, it's a bit of a tricky area so I'm not sure how long it's going to take, the rain isn't as heavy now so hopefully he won't get to wet. We had to move another plant today and replace it with something else as it was starting to die where it was. It's in a more sheltered spot now so hopefully it'll recover.

Morning Gill and all,
We have sunshine today and oh is out grinding all the paint off the other mower deck. He just came in and asked for a big plaster which is unusual for him. When I got one and he took the tissue off his finger he has split it right across his knuckle andit looked quite deep. I put the plaster on nice and tight to hold it together and off he went again.
I do hope thig improve for Colin's sister and Richard's friend. Spring is coming although it still seems far off. Perhaps if the weather gets better then people will feel better too.
Hope oh can fix the gutter Gill. I hate it when things drip. Ours comes down on the windowsill just where I sit in the kitchen corner when we have heavy rain but there is nothing that can be done about that as its near the endand a pipe that goes to the drain. Oh is always saying we need bigger gutters as what we have is sort of square and only about two and a half inches wide and deep.
Must press on as I hav'nt fed the birds yet.

Morning all, (NOT GOOD) Bad nights sleep. Roa was in and out every hour to the loo. We must try to get this operation sorted, sooner than later. She try not to disturb me but if I am not in a deep sleep, she does.
Jane the way things are going with this N C C we will be sweeping our own roads, and disposing of our own rubbish. What the Hell have they done with all the money. ??
Gill. Whenever you take out a hedge. I would always try to remove all the roots, as there will certainly be live roots left in the ground, and might well start shooting. Are you replacing the hedge with another, or just a fence. ??
Sorry news about your SIL Mandy. If must be a worry for whoever is going to have the responsibility of looking after her. How old is she, and is she married with a Husband and children who will take on the arduous task of what the future may hold.
Anne, Good news on Richards friend, perhaps it's best that he doesn't remember about the collapse , the chances are it would worry him more.
Ros has just gone to pick Carolyn up to go shopping, as tomorrow she is helping Martine to sort her MILs cloths out for the charity shop. Would you believe Martine found FORTY pairs of NEW shoes in the wardrobe, still boxed and priced. So some older person will have a few bargains at the Charity shop. !!!!
Really bright sunshine first thing, but the clouds are starting to creep in.
I started this posting over an hour go. The door bell rang, and it was John Fairs. he's been siting here chatting and has just gone. I am still siting here in my dressing gown, as I was going into the shower when he called. So I'm off now. See you later.

Hi all,
No problems after yesterday, thanks Mel. BUT this afternoon about 3.20 I was making Ros a COT as she came in from the greenhouse, potting on a load of seedlings the arrived in the post yesterday. I poured the boiling water into the mug, and caught my hand on the spoon, knocking the mug of boring water over my right hand and wrist. I have been standing at the sink with my hand under running cold water for almost half an hour. Now got it wrapped in CLING FILM, as told to by 111 assistant. She told me I should go to A & E within the next hour. But as there is only slight blistering, I won't bother. Thank goodness I am left handed. It comes in handy sometimes. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I trust you are all well. Speak again soon. xxx

O dear Frank what are we going to do with you......... Good to know you hav'nt any effects from yesterdays tumble over the step though. X
That'll teach you not to leave a spoon in the mug.
It started with hailsones just at lunchtime which soon turned to rain and its been raining ever since.
Went up to get our scripts and it dos'nt get nay better in there as I had to wait ages to get to the counter and then check everything and they had given me the wrong pills as the doc changed them a couple of weeks ago as I was getting such a dry mouth. Also booked a blood pressure test for next Thursday so please remind me. Its at 11.30am.

FRank Don't try popping any blisters from your burn. That is how infection can set in. I can just imagine how painful it is. Scalding water is agony for ages. I think cling film as suggested is the best thing and Paracetamol. Who's a silly billy :-S. It is easy done though to knock a mug over like that . I hope the appointment comes through quickly for Ros.She needs to get this problem sorted once and for all now doesn't she.
Mandy ,I was going to ask the same as Frank as to whether OH's Sister has family at home if she is not going to able to walk any longer. Not a good situation for her to be in :-(
I hope John has continued to improve Anne and has a bed now in the Cardiac ward.
Mel that cut on OH's knuckle is in an awkward place .I hope it doesn't keep opening up. These men in the wars !!!!
That is a big hedge for you to cut down Gill !! But your front garden will look so different once that is done ,and you have the new fencing and gate. I too have not heard of having to confirm a hospital appointment .Only just to let them know if you can't attend.
Frank, am I correct in thinking there is a new Council Headquarters that cost £50 million that was only completed 6 months ago??? There are going to be so many cut backs, even more than have been planned I reckon :-S :-S The trouble is it will be the people who really need certain services that will no doubt be hit the worst. Yep we are in a right old Pickle here in Northants :-S :-S
The sun has been shining all day here and I can't quite believe its all downhill again with freezing temps and snow. Has anyone had trouble with little annoying tiny black flies about the size of midges? We seem to have so many irritating little so and sos in the house. I did notice outside today a massive massive cloud of midgy things.Or Gnats. It must be the mild weather. Hopefully this next cold snap will finish them off.
I had my eye test this morning and all is good. My pressures still remain borderline but no change and the start of the Cataract hasn't changed either in the last 12months. I don't need any new specs either :-D So that was all positive :-D
Janice's lot are at the Races today in Cheltenham.I wonder if they have made a fortune LOL

Really busy day here. OH went to the Garden Centre this morning to get some seeds, then he went off to do a bit of grocery shopping for the weekend. I spent the morning doing washing and H. work!! OH then spent the whole afternoon putting the seeds into trays/pots! they're now in the greenhouse where they hopefully will germinate! I took Cas a nice long walk, then prepared the supper veg (potatoes and leeks) COT, and here we both are, watching Bergerac!! Sounds a nasty scald Frank. Honey is very good for burns/scalds, it was used a lot during the war to help aircrew who were burnt in their planes. We find it invaluable. Glad to hear your roof is not as bad as you thought Gill, take it easy in the garden, you don't want to exhaust yourself. :-)
