Good evening all
Jane seven sisters is in Sussex but not a nice day to walk it It's on the South Downs and quite near to Eastbourne where my paternal grandmother was born Have they tried Beachy Head another nice walk with places to eat as well, just don't walk near the edge!!
That was so sad that Colin's sister lost her husband while on holiday scary too for her being in another country.
Just been reading about the double murder in West St Leonards, Peter's Great Aunt Mary used to live in Bexhill Road and it is the main coast road so must have caused a lot of disruption when they closed it. on it's left hand side is the beach.
Abbie is now enjoying herself in Cornwall but typical of Abbie the journey wasn't as straight forward as it should have been, First on the morning of leaving she overslept and then had to do her washing of clothes to take with her, so she missed her train in Reading but got on the next one which turned out she got on the wrong train and had to get off at Bristol to catch the one she needed. Being Abbie No one was surprised. She met a lady with an 8 year old Boston on the train called Pixie her owner was surprised that she knew the breed until she explained about Ruby. She is back home on Monday hopefully it will go more smoothly.
Richard & Paul are at the ice hockey game, the Bracknell Bees aren't doing to well at the moment, the season has nearly ended.
We have had snow but not as much as Mel they were nice photos of where she is.I hope your car isn't too costly

Richard has just come home and it's snowing hard and starting to lay. Needless to say the team lost another game, in London tomorrow and if they lose this one it will be their last game this season. They won't be going to this one.

I also downloaded pics of the make I did that I can't show you yet and they have disappeared into the ethos. They are definately not in my mkaes folder where they should be.

What a shock that must of been for Colin's sister to lose her husband that way Mandy......very sad.
Abbie sounds like she's had a time of it with her journey Anne. Let's hope she has a better one on her way home.
So you've all got snow, we're just had a few flakes every now and then, but nothing at the moment.
Off to bed shortly, I'm starting to feel a bit tired now.

Morning Liz morning all
You were up early today Liz. Same here with the snow and it's freezing out there so I won't be going out either. Poor Rosie was getting covered in snow as she was eating the nuts before. We're having roast lamb too, that's my favourite.
I had a go on my family tree yesterday but got stuck again....nothing new there ;-) I did find out that I have some famous people in my tree, well, famous in Australia anyway. That is the family I'm stuck on, I'm just hoping I haven't made a mistake where I've put the people as I only had stuff online to go by. A few articles said that Gary was Cliff's great grandson, then another one said he was his great nephew. I've put him in as his great grandson for now as only one article out of lots said he was Cliff's great nephew......hope it's right. The problem I had was I couldn't find Cliff's children so had to put his daughter in with just a surname and being born in Australia, the same with her husband. The only reason I thought he had a daughter is because I had a different surname for his great grandson. Luckily I found Gary's dad, but unfortunately not his dad's parents, of which his mother would of been Cliff's daughter.....hope that all makes sense?
Anyway I've given up on that part of my tree for now as I found a few tree matches on Genes for this family so I've PM'd them in the hope they can help. Haven't had any replies yet. Australia is really hard to research isn't it?
I'm going to take another look at my tree today. I've made a copy of it on Ancestry and have lots of hints to go through, so plenty to keep me busy for a while. I use Ancestry as my backup tree, but most of the time, with the hints, it's easier to do than my Genes tree.
I got your snow pictures Mel. How many did you send so I can let you know if they all came through? I think one of them came through twice. We have about as much snow so far as you had yesterday and it's still snowing. How much have to got today? Looking forward to seeing what you have been making when you can send those pics.

Morning all,
We had lots of snow during the evening it was laying really thick when we went to bed ,this morning it has thinned out i suppose the wind has blown it about ,i don't think it will have thawed as its really freezing out there ,i went down to the shed as Colin needed the bucket to empty the ash in from the fire and it was like glass under foot and the wind cut though you.
Thanks for the lovely snowy photo's Mel and Liz ,it was nice to see where your chickens live Mel :-)
We're not turning out any where today just keeping in the warm .
The sky is looking really grey now looks like we might be in for some thing , they were talking on the radio about some Chalets in Hemsby that are at risk of going into the sea with the wind and high tides the residents had been moved out yesterday ,i think they said there were ten homes that might go .

Morning all,
Its cold out there. It started snowing again last night and we are all covered again but the road is clear. I hav'nt gone out yet but think I may have trouble opening the chickens this morning unless the bolts on the door of the chicken house have thawed. Last night I could'nt open the door to take their water drinker out and had truble with the pop hole closing.
Still having a job to send you lot the pictures but I see some got through.

Good morning my little SNOW WOMEN. lol lol.
Yes we have had our fair share, but not as much as Liz and Mel. We decided on an Indian Takeaway last night to save us having to go out. It was delivered around 7.00 so just right, as I was getting peckish.
Dear old DENIS our neighbour called again this morning. He wouldn't come in as his boots are covered in snow. So he had me sanding with the door open in my dressing gown. My that wind did get to me !!! He only said the he was going to order a new panel tomorrow, and would get John another neighbour or "RINGO" to put the new panel in. Why I needed to know that I will never know. Has he not heard of a PHONE. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Very sensible of Hannah not doing that walk in this weather Jane. There is still plenty of time for training.
My Simon is in Ireland this weekend visiting friends. I hope the airport isn't closed, or he will be in trouble. Sally is on call again tomorrow, and her job is very responsible, being in charge of TWO Ambulance Stations. I would expect Simon to loose wages as well.
Mandy, who in the world would have expected that for Colin's brother. We have all done it. The water looking so inviting and cooling. There for the grace etc. :-( :-( :-(
Couldn't bring myself to eat breakfast this morning (AS USUAL) Ros had crumpets with Marmalade . I will just have a coffee in a while.
I must ring my sister this morning also, I haven't spoke to her this week. She wouldn't think of phoning me, even tho the lines go both ways. !!!
Stay warm and safe. See you later. xx

The snow was melting and blowing off the trees and bushes but now its started to snow again lightly.
Hope Simon can get home Frank. The road down here is clear but I don't know what its like outside the walls as I can't see. Silly man coming round and making you stand at the door in your dressing gown Frank. As you said he could have phoned you or perhaps he has'nt got your number.

Earliest memory for me is about 92 years ago - the birth of my little sister Barbara, now, sadly, passed on. I recall my mother nursing her and trying to get me to say her name. I could manage 'Ba-ba' and remember thinking 'what a stupid, unpronounceable name'. But Ba-ba she remained for many years and, when she could talk, I became Jindo. Never thought to ask why.

Afternoon All Lots of snow here too over night. Liz you look like you might have had a little more than us. Mel I got all your pics. I just love the Orchard pics.It just looks so pretty . One im particular would look great in a frame on your wall. Maybe you could print one off.
I see Rosie wasn't going to miss out on her nuts Gill :-D I let Thomas out at 5 and had to knock all the snow off the back door step for him to get out !! It had blown against the door and was about 4 inches high.It was still snowing a bit then too so I was surprised Thomas actually did go .I hung around a bit in the kitchen thinking he would change his mind and come rushing back but after 10 minutes or so there was no sign of him so I was back off to bed. He didn't come back until around 9 !.
I bet the Ambulance service will be busy today Frank.D. Sally will have her work cut out for her. Fingers crossed Simon doesn't get held up over in Ireland. I bet there are still a lot of drunk people around after St Patricks day LOL So you had the neighbour on your doorstep keeping you standing in the cold. We had the Jehova Witness people !One quite elderly lady and another slightly younger. How mad is that on a day like this :-S I think by the sound of it we will all be staying in the warm today and not venturing out.

Hello Len and welcome! , that's a very long ago memory, hopefully you have some more for us! Thankyou for the photos Mel. It's feeling a bit warmer here but the snow doesn't seem in any hurry to melt!! Just finished our lunch which was delicious! Hope your lamb is as good as ours Gill! I think it is my favourite! Dishwasher is on, and we're now watching Mansfield Park, for the umpteenth time, and will probably have a snooze!

Good afternoon All
Good to hear from Len with his memories, hope he has plenty more to share. with us, with him mentioning his sister's nickname reminded of Peter's eldest sister who all the family still call Bo her actual name is Rosemary, she used to call herself this when she was a toddler, she is now 83.
I woke up this morning with about 3 inches of snow and the road like an ice rink thankfully it has now started to thaw and Paul says the main roads are mostly clear. See by the many photos from Mel and more from Liz and Jane that it is very wide spread, we definitely had more this time.
Good to see Rosie is still around enjoying her nuts, Gill
Abbie is now staying down in Cornwall until the trains are running smoothly again
We had roast chicken today mainly with me in mind as I don't eat red meat.
At the moment John is making a good recovery but will be on the cardiac ward for at least another week, his short term memory is improving which is good news. Sharon and Caroline made a quick visit to see him yesterday and he looked no different from usual. He still hopes he may be able to go on holiday if not one.of the other families will take the boys with them in their car probably Sharon and Nigel. Richard always gets a lift from Caroline and David who live just down the road from us.

Welcome to the board Len. Its strange how things get their names and they stick through all their lives.
Come on Len tell us more about your childhood please?
Its still snowing here and has been since this morning bt its still not settling on our road. It must be that the cars and vans that come down here have spread a bit of salt on it.

Hello Len :-D My goodness what a memory from so long ago. We need more lovely memories please from your childhood as we have run out of all ours now :-D :-D
I think the snow is beginning to melt of the Summerhouse Roof now but it is very icy underfoot everywhere now. This is certainly going to be a Winter to remember .
Just had more pics from Mel which she has asked mt to forward ,so I will do that when I have finished posting this. Anne is the Penzance to London train not running or is it reduced services? Good thing Abby is waiting until normal services are resumed. She doesn't want to get stuck anywhere along the line. John sounds as though he is going make a really good recovery from his sudden Cardiac Arrest. He is so lucky to have survived that .
Len has reminded me of what my Sister called me when she was tiny. She couldn't say Jane so I was Drain :-S :-S I am glad name never stuck LOL Hospital was another she couldnt say and that was Hostible.
I am trying out something new again for dinner(well just the potato dish from the Sainsbury Magazine) It is called Greek Style Lemon and Bay Potatoes. Sliced Maris Pipers, then in a jug is veg stock, dried Oregano, fresh squeezed lemon juice,Garlic and Olive Oil.Mixed all together and poured over the potatoes in a roasting tin.A few Bay Leaves tucked in and a tablespoon of Polenta sprinkled over to help crisp. It smells wonderful just hope it turns out ok. I am doing Chicken Breasts with Asparagus and wrapped with Pancetta and have made this gravy(wont bore you with the details ) but it is Lemon,Tarragon and Shallot.I made it on Friday and kept it in the fridge
I hope Frank has enjoyed his meal out today and that he has managed to eat a good bit.
I shall forward Mel's latest pic on now.

Hello Len, nice to hear of your story, it reminded me of my husband's aunt, her name is Lorraine but has always been called Poppy. I didn't know her real name until I started our family tree. It started with her brother as he couldn't say her real name and came up with Poppy, which stuck.
Love all the photo's of the snow, ours has all gone now but there is a biting wind out there today.
Hope Simon makes it home okay Frank. Fancy your neighbour keeping you talking on the doorstep. Like you said he could of rang you instead. How is your sister, did you manage to ring her?
Yes the lamb was lovely Liz. I see you've had a lot of snow, more than anyone by the looks of it.
Your meal sounds nice Jane, everyone is going to love it. I don't blame you for going back to bed after letting Thomas out this morning 5am is a bit early to stay up and I can imagine it was quite cold too. No Rosie wasn't going to miss out this morning. I noticed her footprints in the snow so she'd been earlier while we were still in bed. It didn't take her long to eat them today, then she was off......not even a thank you LOL ;-) Cheeky little squirrel.
Good idea for Abbie to stay in Cornwall Anne until the weather improves and the trains are running properly. At least it's a nice place to be stuck in :-D Pleased to hear John is on the road to recovery, hope he can make it on his holiday.
OH's just nipped out for bread and milk and come back without them. He's been having problems with his memory lately which is a bit concerning, but with his brother the way he is I'm not surprised. His brother has a chest infection and so does his mum, so I can imagine how worried he is right now.
Going to get a cuppa then watch a bit of telly. It's lovely and warm in here with the heating on.
