Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Mar 2018 09:35

Morning all,

Well last in First on. We've had sunshine today but its now gone all dull and dreary.

I am sitting here sneezing and oh is outside pickerling about with his mower deck.

Frank

Frank Report 23 Mar 2018 11:17

Good morning my dears, I didn't say "OLD DEARS" lol lol

No after effects from my injection, thank goodness. in fact I didn't feel it at all this month.

Just debating what to have for dinner tonight. The pork chops last night were tasteless. so we won't be buying Supermarket chops in future. Long gone are the days when you had a nice piece of kidney in the chops. Roa will go to the local butcher in future.

Just sat through Jeremy KYLE. What a great hour about BRAVE CHILDREN. who have gone through so much in their young lives. Makes you grateful that the children you bought into the World, are fit and healthy. I would never look at the programme in the morning, but so glad I did today.

Nothing sort of morning here. The wind looks strong and cold. I haven't ventured out yet. So will decide if I will attempt the lawns later.

Roa called in and had a coffee with Val last night after Choir, so it was after 10.00 pm when she got home. They have two weeks off now, and then are moving back to Blisworth Church. Why the moved to Milton Malsor, no one seems to know. !!!

I had a very good night last night. Listened to the radio for an hour, then got sealed down about 11.30. Slept through to 8.30 with only one visit to the loo.

How did the meet up go yesterday Jane. Was Fitz pleased with the painting ??

Haven't heard that expression before Mel. "PICKERING" is that the same as FIDDLING. ?? We all have so many different words to explain things we do. !!!

Simon rang this morning. He is full of COLD. He blames the AIR CONDITIONING on th plane back from Ireland. Sally seems to have caught it too. So she's not happy. They are hoping to spend Easter weekend on the Narrow Boat. But the Forecast isn't great so they might just CHILL at home. They both work so hard, and many hours, so it would do them good to relax.

I had my USUAL VISIT from DENNIS yesterday afternoon, to tell me he was having the new panel for the fence delivered this afternoon, and that John will be round about 10.00 am Saturday morning to fit it. Talk about a running commentary lol lol.

No plans for today. Sunday we have to be at Georges Party at 2.00 pm, so no cooking for me. We will make do on a buffet , it won't hurt us for one day. If we feel we need a meal later in the evening, I can soon get something.

Have a nice day, whatever you might be doing.

Will be looking for more flights later today. We are hoping to go around the end of May and back mid June.

Pleased to hear you had a good night Frank its makes all the difference. I got the Pickling about from Liz.

Suns out here now and its quite mild out but there's still a cold breeze.

Washing is on the line and I am now going to clean the chickens out.

Where is Jane we are all waiting to hear what Fitz thought about the painting.

Morning all

Sunny again and warm today, so I've been in the garden cutting back some plants, then I came in and took a picture hook out of the wall and filled that. OH had a bit of touching up painting to do so that's done. I did the insulation yesterday and OH helped me put the wardrobe back. Once all the painting and filling is dry we're going to put the bed back up and put the room back to rights. OH said it was a good idea not to insulate the whole wall and paper it as he'd have to take the wardrobe out again and it was quite a job to get it back last night. The hardest bit was lining up the holes to put the screws through. We have special type screws that hold one wardrobe to another so they line up nicely. Well, it took OH and I almost two hours to line everything up, we think the carpet might of been pushed up as the corner wardrobe was almost half an inch higher than the double wardrobe next to it. OH climbed on a chair and pulled it round straight from the top as I pushed it from the bottom. At least it's done now, so it won't be long before the room is back to normal again.

Yes, I wonder what Fitz thought of the painting, it would of been a lovely surprise for him. Looking forward to hearing from Jane today :-)

Pleased to see your injection was better this time Frank after the painful experience last time.

Hope you're not coming down with something with you sneezing Mel. Keep warm and you might be okay.

Going to get something to eat now and a cuppa while the paint and filler dry, then we can put the room back. I've got some washing and hoovering to do today as well, so another day of work by the looks of it. I'm hoping to have the weekend off as the F1 season starts again tomorrow........I'm really looking forward to it :-D :-D

Just had some GREAT NEWS. Jan rang to say Conrad and her are paying for our flights to Spain as our Anniversary present. At the cost of over £350.00 I think we must be very lucky people to have a son and DIL like that. She has also got priority boarding, and reserved seats, together with assistance to the plane and off the other end. So all we need to do is TURN UP.

Gill Please SLOW DOWN. !!! you put me, and I would think most of us to shame, with all the jobs you do. Here's me contemplating whether to go and take on the lawns, and you are on top of all your jobs.

I am now going to look in the chest freezer in the garage to sort out what we are having tonight. I can then decide if it's too COLD to do the lawns.

Bunnyboo Report 23 Mar 2018 12:40

No family today which I'm quite glad about as yesterday was lovely but a bit tiring! L rang this morning and suggested that we all meet in Henley for lunch next Tuesday as it's P's 18th birthday. We're really happy to be doing this and it lets us off the hook for today!! ;-)
We're just taking it easy today, I must clear the spinach and the remains of the carrots then OH can rotavate the remainder of the veg patch. OH is out tomorrow with his shooting friends helping with the pheasant pens, so I shall have a nice peaceful few hours!!
I'm afraid I'm not into F1 Gill! OH watches a bit on and off. My parents loved motor racing and we used to go a lot when I was a child, and know a lot of the drivers on a personal level! I always found it a bit boring so I think it put me off !!
Lunch now, pate French bread and salad.
:-D

Gillx Report 23 Mar 2018 13:31

I am sitting down at the moment Frank, but I'm afraid it won't be for long as I want to sort out the spare room so I can have the weekend off. At the moment the bedding is on one of our sofa's in the living room, so I will have to sort the spare room so we have somewhere to sit in the living room. OH cut our lawns again the other day, although not much came off it so it probably didn't really need doing. Never mind it's looks tidy now and shouldn't need doing again for a while. Hope you manage to do yours.
Thanks for the e-card, Sandra and I loved it. So the flights are all sorted. That was nice of them to pay for your tickets, like you said you are very lucky.

I love the F1 Liz and get so excited. I've always loved cars and motorbikes. I even went on a motorbike simulator in Asda years ago and won some Red Bull VIP tickets to Alton Park to watch the superbikes, it was a great day out and Red Bull laid on food and drinks, starting with breakfast, then lunch and dinner. The weather was brilliant too, it was also televised so we ended up on TV. Everyone at OH's work wanted to buy the tickets off me, but I said no as OH had had chicken pox on his birthday for three years running so the tickets were a belated birthday present off me to him. I also love classic cars and often go to shows to see them. OH loves them too, along with the F1 like me.
Another day out to look forward to, that'll be nice. Pleased to see you had a nice time yesterday. Best to have a rest if your tired, then you'll be fresh again for next week.

I fancied some egg and bacon for lunch but didn't have any bacon in, so OH has nipped to the shop for me. His painting is dry now so I'll give it the second coat while he's out, it'll save him a job when he comes home. Then we can all eat together. The hoovering is done and the washing is almost finished, so with a bit of luck I might have the weekend off after all. ;-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Mar 2018 15:07

Guess what??????? I'm actually sitting down, now there's a first LOL :-D :-D

Didn't have bacon and eggs in the end as it's a bit late now and I fancy an omelette for dinner with some boiled rice, so I've decided to have a cuppa and a donut to tide me over for a few hours.

I've put the bed back together and made it, after I did the painting and the washing is finally finished, just a few things to dry then they can be put away. When I've finished my cuppa and donut I'm going to do another coat of paint, then tomorrow when it's dry properly I'll push the bed back into place and hoover that room. I'll settle down and watch the F1 then. I must get on with some sewing I wanted to do as well but I'm not sure when I'll have the time for that as OH and I have decided to make a start on the kitchen cupboards next week, they are still in the back room as we haven't had the time to do it yet. I don't know what I'm going to do when I run out of jobs LOL ;-) ;-) I'll be so bored.

Bunnyboo

Bunnyboo Report 23 Mar 2018 15:18

Done an hour in the garden! All the spinach is lifted (OH did that!!) and the remains of the carrots! OH is just getting out the rotavator to finish the patch off! I've lifted a few lupins as well as we are getting inundated with them!! Bit of weeding thrown in and I'm done for the day! We haven't done any mowing yet, it's just been too wet and we don't usually start mowing till April unless we get some early warm weather!
Pork chops, smash and sweet corn for supper!

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Mar 2018 16:22

It sounds like you've been as busy as me with your jobs Liz. It's a nice feeling when it's all done isn't it? It feels a bit strange for me here at the moment as I've not been able to see most of my floors for a few weeks with emptying the loft and now I can. I can't believe how bright it is in the spare room, we had the mattress up against the window and with all the boxes piled high the room was very dark. It looks much better now and will look even better tomorrow when the painting is finished and the bed has been put back in place.

Just catching up with a few programmes before dinner. I like the sound of the meal you're having tonight. Meant to say I watched Alan about the Workhouses the other day, isn't it sad that poor people were punished for being poor when they were the people who really needed the help. I was surprised that workhouses were still around until the 1970's too.

Still no Jane? Hope she makes it on here today, I'd love to hear about Fitz and the painting.

Jane Report 23 Mar 2018 16:43

Here I am :-D :-D :-D Sorry I didnt manage to get back on yesterday. I was all ready to and then someone turned up and was here for a couple of hours, then today I have just been busy and am just having a bit of a sit down before I get on with the next bit of cooking.

Yesterday was lovely. Fitz was tickled pink with his present from Ann :-D :-D. He was amazed at how well she had managed to catch the likeness and manner of George.I expect Fitz will have it up on his wall by now :-D
Our lunch was very nice although we all agreed the deserts werent up to the usual standard . Fitz had Scallops with bits of Lobster, and then a Cod Loin for main, Ann and I had the same .Starter was a pressed Root Veg slice with a Parsnip Puree and a egg yolk on top of the puree. That was yummy. Then for our main dish we had Chicken Ballantine .That was good too. Ann had some kind of Trifle Jelly thing and Fitz had 2 scoops of Icecream and sorbet. He had 3 really but I had the third as he only wanted 2 . The Icecream he had was Black Forest and the Sorbet was Blackberry. The Sorbet was more like a lump of Jam than icy cold like sorbets should be. But other than that is was a good meal . Ann had managed to find out another piece of information about 'George' for Fitz ,so that will be added to his big file !!
On the way home we had to be diverted as a huge lorry had lost its load of baled pressed paper right on a roundabout !!!!!!. What a mess.It was chaos .I had to drivr back via Desborough and it was the school run tome too so queues of traffic.

I haven't looked at all the posts yet.I must finish getting this dinner ready first and then I can sit down and read through.

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Mar 2018 17:34

I'm so pleased Fitz liked his painting and the extra information on George, Jane. Your meal sounds very nice, apart from the Jam bit you mentioned. What a palaver you had getting home, it's bad enough having a diversion, but at the same time as the school run...... nightmare. Hope it didn't take to much extra time to get home.

Jane

Jane Report 23 Mar 2018 18:50

It took about an extra 20 minutes to get home Gill,so not too bad.But I could have done without it as I was desperate for a wee LOL

Frank, how lovely for your tickets to be bought for you and Ros :-D :-D. That will mean you will have lots more spending money :-D :-D :-D. That is a great anniversary present.
Gill I think you deserve a whole weekend 'off' .You have been working your socks off.
But I can't really see you sitting doing nothing lol . That putting the wardrobe back in place sounded a bit of a nightmare. I was thinking it was a free standing wardrobe.

Glad you enjoyed your day out in Wells yesterday Liz.I expect you were secretly relieved the family didn't come today :-D. There will always be another day.

Mel I think it is the beginning of sneezy weather.I have started having to take an antihistamine some days again. Chris has been lopping lots of branches and pulling up loads of Ivy and other bits just outside the back of the house ,and we have both been sneezing and sniffing.

There doesn't seem to be a breath of wind outside . Every tree and plant are totally still. Not even a leaf moving.
Thomas was out all night :-S He went out about 4pm and I didnt see him again until about 11 this morning. He looked totally zonked and slept all day . Not a bit of cat food has passed his lips, which tells me he must be full of bunnies :-S :-S
He has gone again now.If he is not in by 10 then he will be locked out. I sat up for ages last night and even got up at midnight to see if he was waiting to come in. I shalln't be doing that again tonight!. I just hate him being out all night. It's a bit like when the children were in their teens and out for all hours and I would not be able to sleep until I knew they were in safe and sound. I think it is a Mum thing .

There's a new craft programme on BBC 4 at Nine o'clock on wednesday ,might be worth a look for those that like crafts ,Silver jewelry making ,rug making ,cross stitch and lots more

Gillx

Gillx Report 23 Mar 2018 21:44

Lovely pictures Jane, Fitz looked very surprised didn't he?

It is a freestanding wardrobe Jane, but because it was in the corner with not a lot of room to manoeuvre it without it scraping against the wall that I'd just put insulation on, it was quite tricky to line it up with the wardrobe next to it, plus the carpet puckered up underneath, so OH and I had to man handle it into place so the holes lined up for us to screw it to the double wardrobe. We did it in the end and everything is back in there now.

Thanks for letting us know about the Craft programme Mandy, I've put it on my planner.

Off to bed shortly as I'm shattered. I had a very late night last night ,so need an earlier one tonight.

Thanks for the pics Jane he did look pleased.

whats all this about an ecard?

I hoovered the bedroom and hall this morning and dusted both after doing some washing which almost dried but it came over cloudy and rained. Even though the washing is now under cover its seems to take in the dampness from the air.

I have been helping a chap who I helped in 2009 and he came back to me today cos he had just seen my message!!!! Anyway I found quite a lot of info for him today.

Good morning Mel and all.

Raining here, and down right miserable.

Mel, I sent everybody including you an Easter E card Have you looked in your RUBBISH FILE. Often anything you send me goes into mine. If not I will try to find it and resend it to you. You know I wouldn't leave you out. xxx

I see you have all been busy with one thing or another. Remember YOU are all getting OLDER, so must take things easy sometimes. (I've just ducked from the things you are throwing at me.) lol lol

I found a Hotel that does car parking, and a shuttle service to the airport. It's almost half of what Luton Airport charge. So I have booked and paid for that. When we get back we just need to phone them and they will have the car ready, when the shuttle returns us, so all we will need to do, is get in and drive home.

My nephew's birthday today. There is a photo of my Mum and Dad with him as a baby. I have asked for a copy, as I have never seen this photo.

Not the best journey home Jane, but could have been worst.Yes, Ros would never go to sleep until she know Conrad and Harvey were home at night. I never had that problem with my two, as I wasn't there !!!

Martine is busy getting all the finger nibbles cooked. Ros rang to see if she needed any help, but she is on top of everything. Morrison's are doing all he sandwiches. I didn't know they offered that service. We could have done those for her. Gawd knows what they charge for doing that. We will be going to the PARTY at 2.00 pm tomorrow.
The DVDs that I have bought him all turned up yesterday. Ros has wrapped them, and written his 100th Birthday card. What a grand old age. !!!!

Not going out at lunchtime, I will sit and read my book instead. There's no Premiership football on Tele, as ENGLAND are playing these SILLY friendlies.

See you all later.

Morning Frank and all,

Its quite bright here this morning and we have had some sunshine. Its not so cold out today.

I have the usual egg delivery to do and get the paper and then the rest of the day is mine.

Must get the steaks out the freezer for tonight. They are quite big this week as the price was down. I hope I can eat it all as I don't like to waste anything. If I don't eat it oh will!! He always has a clean plate.

No Frank no ecard here not even in my trash folder.

Afternoon all

Nice and sunny again so I had an hour in the garden, would of done more but the garden bin is full, so it'll have to wait until after Tuesday when the bin is emptied. So you were right Jane, I didn't have the weekend off in the end LOL ;-) I have had a bath and something to eat and now I'm settled down for the F1, when that has finished the boat race is on, so I'll be routing for Oxford to win. 20 minutes wasn't to long, but like you said if you're bursting for a wee, it's the last thing you needed.

Happy birthday to your nephew Frank. That was nice seeing the photo and to have a copy of it for yourself too.

F1 is on, see you all later

Afternoon Everyone
What a dark day it is . I have the lights on.No rain here Frank(so far).
No ecard from you either. I don't think I have ever had an ecard come through from you. :-S. I will check my junk mail just in case it has gone in there.

I hope the birthday bash goes well for the 100 year old gentleman.I reckon he is going t olove all those DVDs :-D
James is out to a Birhday do tonight. It is Johnny's Mums 70th and her Daughter Charlotte has arranged a party for her at the Village Hall in Geddington. I think there are going to be so many people there.

Ha Ha Gill, I just knew you wouldnt be able to do nothing today LOL . Enjoy the F1 . That is not for me,but I do enjoy the boat race.
I think I am going to have a bit of a lazy afternoon ,watch TV and carry on sorting photos.I am going to be doing this for months at the rate I am going. The trouble is I spend so much time going back over them all ,especially the ones of the children when they were young. There are lots of holiday pics when we used to do Eurocamp Hols in France.Janice and Larry came with us a few times with their children and we always had great fun . But seeing the photos now there was not a grey hair on us grown ups and we all looked so much slimmer and soooo young !!!! I think Larry is the only one whose weight hasn't changed much.He has always been tall and lanky .

It isnt really cold here but I think I will light the fire anyway just to cheer the place up.
