It's the Adam's family that 'Uncle Bill' reminds me of.I can picture the character ,but just can't think of his name :-S
Mel we have wind turbines near me.If I look out the bedroom window I can just see the tips of one going around.I must say I quite like them. They aren't too near houses and I find them quite mesmerizing to watch.A bit Hypnotic .

David ,I think it is always good to be the 'Supervisor' .Ellen will make sure you lay the rugs in all the right places. :-D

Well, if nothing else it has draged some memories from way back when.

It's funny how 15/20 years makes all the difference to things we had. I was bought up in the Rationing era, Utility, furniture and everything on ration, If you didn't have the cuepons you never had it. 3d a week on sweets. then related to 1/4 lb but you couldn't afford a 1/4lb. so you made do with what you could get for your Saturday night 3d. We would go to the local off licence for a bag of broken crisps , and we would get an arrowroot biscuit for 1d The local Maypole would sell broken biscuits, All sorts, in the bag would be, custard creams, ginger nuts, sweet biscuits, It was like a lucky dip, you never knew what you were going to get. Now of course we have such a selection we don't know what to choose. I am lucky, that I never had a sweet tooth. We didn't have the treats that the kids of today get.

Very dissapointed tonight. The pub has a new T.V. System installed, but no one seems to know how it works, sat there for an hour, waiting for them to find the football, It never happened. So was home again by 9.15pm.

Oh dear Frank ,that's a shame you missed the footie.Lets hope they get the system up and running soon.
Just watched the end of the Jungle ,I see Chrissie Cross has gone.To be honest I'm surprised she lasted as long as this.I didn't even know who she was.

Well I am off to bed .Nice fresh sheet ,pillow cases and duvet cover.Bliss.
Night Night all xx

Did you manage to get the bookcase?

Mel, I used to get called Morticia. lol It is a long time since I had the white bits.....it is all the same now. :-(

Shame about the footie Frank, OH was at a local match and got froze in the wind and rain. I think it won't be many more years before he will need tights under his trousers!! lol

Off to bed now with my bottle.....back is much better today.

David, if I supervise my OH he starts calling me 'milady'. lol

Nightie night xx

Morning Jane . Morning Mel

Still windy but the rain has stopped. Christmas is coming to fast for me this year, probably because I am just a little behind,

WE decided because I was not well that we would not make a Christmas cake this year, OH is the only one who eats it (I just don't think I have the strength to keep mixing all that ingredients
But surprise to me OH went and made it he said the idea of eating a shop one was scary lol. We use the recipe that my nana always used,
So I only have to decorate it which I enjoy doing any way.

Getting ready for the electrician who is coming at the weekend to sort out the electrics in our back porch before the builders come on Monday to pull the porch down. it will be strange having to use the front door all the time, hope we don't get the snow early this year as it will stop the workers doing anything.

Morning all,

The wind has dropped here, and it's a bright sunny morning.

PITA was fast asleep on the chair arm this morning, and rolled off onto the coffer table, frightened the life out of him. Didn't know where he was. :-0 :-0 :-0

I have had a full refund for the cranberry vase. When I told Ros what I had bought, She said. "I DON'T WANT ANYMORE GLASS" Nowhere to put it. "WRONG AGAIN" :-| :-| :-|

Windows look nice and clean, the next job will be the insides but not today.

Jane, Has Hannah got any "MEN FRIENDS" that could help with the lifting, It would save your poor old back !!!

That Chrisse was in "Benidorm" as the receptionest/manager of the Hotel.

Mel, those chickens will be as fat as pigs.!!! Nice bird for Christmas, or don't you eat your own.
No Kim, Hope all's well in Aus. Not like her to miss us.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Dec 2011 13:29

That's nice of your OH to make the cake Fiona.I gave up on making them a long time ago.I always seemed to burn them :-S.I didn't even buy one last year.Chris bought a big Dundee Cake instead. Not sure if I will get one or not.

Frank I wish Hannah did have some nice men friends.I think she has been put off after Lee.Chris has taken the shelves and frame of the bookshelf out of the box and had taped them up into easier manageable loads to carry.I just hope we can get a parking space around the corner from the flat.

Poor old Pita Frank.I bet he was all of a dither after that fall.My niece found he old cat Chewy having a fit on her bed yesterday.I haven't heard the outcome yet.I think he is at the vets. His is at least 18 years old.
At least you know now NOT what to get Ros .Good job you got a refund .You will have put your thinking cap on again :-D

I have just bought a Xmas card for little Ethan.Baby's first Xmas. The post is dreadful in Dubai ,so whether it will get there or not who knows.

Frank Report 1 Dec 2011 14:25

I'm all dressed up with nowhere to go. Had my shower, put on clean slacks, shirt, and jumper. Been reading my book while Ros washed her hair. She is going out with Carolyn at 2,30 for a mooch around the garden centre, and have tea and cake. Won't see her again till after Christmas.

The old lady who died, has been friends with the woman we were at dinner with on Sunday for over 50 years. She is having to miss the funeral, as she will be away in Teneriffe, with Carolyn and John. It's been arranged and fares paid for a while ago. She is upset, but can't change everything, because someone dies. HARD HEARTED AREN'T I !!!

I didn't mead "BOY FRIENDS" Jane, just a couple of lads that could help out.

Have sold another bit of old carpentry tool. Rebate plane. got to go to France. £11.50 postage, and he's quite happy with that.

The days weather has deterioated , very overcast now, and I expect will be dark in no time.

Once Madam goes out I can get back to my book, she always has to have TV on when she's home. can't stand a quiet house. I love it. !!!

Maureen

Maureen Report 1 Dec 2011 14:48

Just popped in to say hello while I'm having lunch.
I can't stand a quiet house either Frank, I always have to have music on. PITA's a very spoilt pussy, mine all get tinned/dry food and if they don't eat it, they don't get anymore until they do .... I'm so hard .......

Half the 'celebs' in the jungle I've never heard of .... Mark, the two models, Chrissie, the lad from some boy band, they seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel a bit.

It's nice hearing different regional accents, be proud of your Norfolk one Mandy.

Well lunch is over so I'd better get back to my cards. If I spend too long on the computer I'll not get back to them.

Running Bear Report 1 Dec 2011 15:00

Sunday Mornings.

Sunday School, from a age I can’t remember to the age of 11, every Sunday morning out would come our Sunday best and of we would trot to chapel, used to love going start with a sing song, then a bit drawing or colouring , then came the sermon, great tales in that bible, every year if you had a good attendance you got a bar with year on it, first year you got the blue enamel cross, next year came the ribbon then followed by the bars, every year we’d have a Christmas party ,Christmas play and a family day out at the seaside ‘Mablethorpe’ Golden sands, donkey rides, penny slot machines, ice-cream, sand and eggy sarnies, boating lake, dodgems, fish n chips and a good sing song on bus. When I was 11, Christmas play, they had me down to sing ‘away in a manger’ not having any of that thank you sir, so that was it end of my Sunday school days.

David Report 1 Dec 2011 15:24

Another reason for E's being not as fond of her new abode as I'd like is the fact that the bungalow almost opposite us is a home for a small number of children with learning difficulties.Next door to it is a bungalow owned by an elderly couple. Two doors from that is a bungalow owned by a bungalow where the husband has MS then there two other elderly couples. On our side of the street there are more elderly couples and the couple in the bungalow next door to us has the husband suffering from motor neurons discease. So all together not a young vibrant street.

But Ellen and I are retired,no longer young.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Dec 2011 15:43

Oh dear David!Maybe it's not a 'young' vibrant street, but that shouldn't stop you both meeting and making friends with the people who are living there.I find 'old' people far more interesting .Some of my friends are much older than me.
Motor Neurone Disease is horrible as is MS.My Dad had MND.Sometimes it is a good idea to find out about who are your neighbours ,but then you don't really know until you have moved in.
Reading this back sound's like I'm having a go at you David.I'm not.(Honestly)

RB...ah Sunday School !
I remember when I would have been about 7 or 8 and my sister 3 or 4 and we would go off to Church with Mum and Dad.After a while us children would file out to go into the Sunday School room.I was in charge of my sister :-S :-S.She would escape and could be heard hammering on the door into the church shouting for her 'DADDY'...............She was sooooo embarrassing :-| :-| :-|

Maureen ,you hard woman you :-|.Poor cats lol

Jane

Jane Report 1 Dec 2011 16:10

When I attended that Sunday School I was chosen to present a posy to Dame someone (can't think of her name).I think she was quite an important person).I was so scared I bawled my eyes out while handing over the flowers.

Then when I was 11 (we had moved by then) I joined the choir in the village church.I went with my friend Anne, and we were always in trouble for messing around .We would be paid 2 shillings ( I think ) to go for a Choir Practice before a wedding and 2/6 to sing at a wedding. The vicar was the Rev Bromham ,a lovely man .Goodness he had to have a lot of patience with us lot :-S
I did a bit of Bell Ringing ,but got blisters so that didn't last long.
I got married in that Church,my two children were Christened there ,and both my parent's ashes are buried there.I love to go to the Church whenever I am back (which sadly hasn't been for a long time)The Church is perched on the cliff just above the beach where I spent many happy Childhood days. The setting is just beautiful.
I think you can see a pic if you google St Werburghs ,Wembury,Plymouth.
I have named my house after the Church just to remind me of home.(But I haven't included the St) lol just Werburgh.

I was a Carer for many years in an other life, and I found that the 'old people' that I helped were mostly absolutely brilliant, so kind, courteous, amusing and full of stories from the distant past! I really miss them now I don't work anymore. I first started in Care after my mother died and my father was terminally ill with cancer. After he died I remember thinking that I could have really appreciated someone coming in for a few hours a week just to help me with the general care and running of him and his house, and for companionship both for him and for me. I then thought that there must be hundreds of other people in the same position, so I joined an Agency and went on from there. If I was clever I could write a book!!! Your right Jane M.S is a horrid illness, really debilitating, I came across it a fair few times - There but for the grace of God! Motor Neuron disease I didn't meet in all the years I worked, but that is truly dreadful, I wouldn't wish that onto ANYBODY - again, There etc.... However, I do like old people and always have - mind you I'm not sure that I like BEING one!!!!

Jane

Jane Report 1 Dec 2011 17:28

Liz,I could write a book too.I just wish I had kept a record of some of the wonderful stories and reminiscences of the elderly folk I looked after when I was a nurse.I remember some days sat on the side of their beds( not really allowed to sit ,but as long as Ward Sister wasn't about ,I did).I cried buckets sometimes with them as they remembered the old days.
I wonder when I am in my dotage if someone will enjoy listening to me telling my tales .

Pork Casserole cooking slowly .Smelling Scrumptious..........Chris smells like a bonfire :-S

Had a phone call this morning to say that the solar panels were being delivered TODAY at 2.30. I had to wait in untill they came as we had arranged to meet the driver up the top in the villagehall carpark incase the lorry could'nt get through the archway into the Gardens.

Did'nt come till 3pm so I went off after to get the poultry food.

Frank I do NOT eat any of my girls they just live their lives out here in the garden. I think they give me enough during their lifetimes to let them have their end naturally.

I brought fish and chips in with me tonight so no cooking for me. I did get steak and kidney out the freezer but I shall do that tomorrow now.

Jane I take it Chris has been having a fire outside???
