Morning All.........eventually!

What a game it has been getting on here today......wish they'd leave the site alone! :-|

Thanks for the emails Frank, they always cheer me up. Shame about Sheila's little dog. I thought she was only going away for a week?

That back of yours has played up for quite a while hasn't it Mandy. I hope it is improving now, such a nuisance when you can't do the things you want to do.

Hope Janice is more comfortable now too and managing to sleep ok. She will have to exercise the 'good' leg to keep the knee strong in that too.

Chester will think it's Christmas yet again when Chris unwraps his pressies!!

We went up the M1 to McAr*hur Glen in my car yesterday. Got just the kind of shirt FIL likes from the M*S outlet and much cheaper too, so that is all his birthday pressies sorted now!! Shirt, tie, war book, Basse*ts and a meal out on the day. I got some earrings and paint and OH got more books from The Wo*ks. On the way home it chucked it down with rain, then huge hailstones for ages that sounded loud enough to crack the screen. We all had to slow to 35mph as the road and fields were white over with the hail and it was quite slippery. Ten miles further on it was 3 degrees warmer, sunny and the roads were bone dry!! There had been a nasty accident on the other side of the motorway though, several fire engines and ambulances including the Air Ambulance. The traffic was tailed back 5 miles.

OH is at Harrogate today. He is off to Vauxhall Motors in Cheshire next week so I may go with him as there is a big retail park near there.

There seem to be changes happening next door with the neighbours that barely acknowledge anyone. :-P They have taken down their big grapevine and creeper covered pergola that covers between the patio near our fence and their conservatory. The new houses that are to be built will be nearer to them, so it may be to do with that.....or are they tidying up for moving. :-D Time will tell.

Pat, it looks like you may have to start again with your fish which is a shame. It seems like they passed something from one to the other. If it was the water you would think the babies wouldn't be doing so well.

Meant to say, the new jewellery class started yesterday, but we didn't do a lot, what with the paperwork and teacher's demos. Three of us are there from the old class and there are 3 new ladies. I hope 2 of them will be able to manage ok as they have very shaky hands and one needs a walker. So shaky they couldn't pour themselves a cup of coffee and the milk went everywhere so I did it for them and managed to drag my top all in the spilt milk ( black top, luckily!). I am their coffee monitor now!! I just hope their beads don't roll under the tables with my knees how they are. lol I think it is great they are trying though and they could always use bigger beads. One said she runs a Hedgehog rescue so I must ask her about that the next time.

Now it is decision time.......stay in or go out? Hmmmm, think I'll stay in in the warm.......well at least till the washing is finished.

Afternoon all..

Went to my brothers this morning....Alan had to sort his pc out again...then we bought him back here to see Mocha.

My husband and I have been married twice. 34 years last October. My 2 oldest children Leigh who is comming across and daughter Clare are from my first marriage, then Alan and I have Gareth... So hence 9 grandchildren lol..

MUst go and check on Mocha..He seems to have developed a retching cough.!!! as if he is going to be sick..some same this is normal but as we are going to the vets on Friday we will get this checked out..
Mandy Im glad your back is feeling a little better..My knees are feeling it where I am up and down with Mocha,Wont your back feel the pain with the x stitch.

Afternoon all, what a lovely sunny day it's been here.

Frank love your jokes, keep 'em coming. However, I'm not sure how you got access to my medical records as it came as a bit of a shock when I read all my notes in your New Alphabet email LOL.

Does anyone else ever have a blast from the past out of nowhere when least expected or is it just something that comes with a hmmmm, certain age? We were sitting at brekky this morning and discussing the next meal, lunch, when out of the blue I said to OH, "Oh, I think I'll have a bloater paste sandwich". Well, the look on her face was to die for. Does anyone else remember those horrid little jars labled 'BLOATER PASTE'. The word alone was enough to make you leave it on the shelf. Actually I don't think I ever tasted it TG!

Mind you, don't we have some lovely memories of what kids said when they were young. They've long forgotten them and we still carry them around. My daughter always said 'wardroad' for wardrobe. If anyone passed wind my son would say "You clunched", which he got from a TV crisps ad featuring two Chinese cartoon characters. Our granddaughter always called gladiolas 'gladi--lightbulbs'. Another trick I would use when I had the kids in the car was this. If we were approaching a traffic light on red, I'd tell them all to wiggle their noses and the lights would change. Most times they did and they believed it was their nose-twitching that did it.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, must get on and do something while there's still a bit of daylight - nice the nights are stretching out a bit now though.

Mel, it won't be till next Thursday that we see our ggd baby Grace. My wife has to go to see the consultant at the Uni Hospital in Coventry in the morning and we are going round to see her straight from there. Can't wait.
Just seen a photo of her so far, aren't mobile phones wonderful these days!

Talking babies, did anyone see 'One Born Every Minute' last week on TV. I thought the disabled lady who had the little girl was just so wonderful, as was her husband. We were both in tears when it finished. And we watched that the night before we got the news of Baby Grace arriving the next morning.

Well after wonderful blue sky it is now really dark with cloud :-S I wonder if we are due any snow.I haven't seen the forecast.
Pat I;m wondering if little Mocha's cough is Kennel cough :-S.I hope not ,but if it is antibiotics will sort it out.It sounds very similar to the sound my first dog had .(That retching sound.)

Ann I hope you wear your apron and little cap if you are going to be Tea lady at your classes lolol. As you say good for the ladies with shaky hands for giving the classes a go.You will have to get someone else to scrabble under the tables for their beads.

I had a very long chat with Janice today. She is unable to flex her knee .Can only maybe bend it an inch :-S :-S.I think when she goes back for physio on Monday they will have her back on the electric machine to move the knee.
I hadn't realised ,but she has had a more complicated op .Not just the Knee Joint replacement. But they removed the Kneecap and rebuilt the underneath bit.(I think that's what she said).

Evening All

Another busy day, this is what happens when your OH works away through the week , the weekends are taken up doing the jobs & shopping that would normallly be done through the week.

SO we did the weekly food shopping , then went to an appointment at B&Q to discuss kitchen cupboards and work tops for my back porch, that is all decided now and ordered and will arrive at the end of February, takes about 4-5 weeks for delivery, we wanted white gloss cupboards and a blue/gray marble (laminated) work tops.
still not seen any floor tiles, but theres pleanty of time till they are needed.

Been busy!! Oh made an egg cup for me today to see if he could make tiny things.

I have had to wash down outside the back door as I had left an egg there and something had come and broken it and it was bad. Coo the pong was awful.

Guess what my OH's favourite paste is William....BLOATER!! He used to be able to get it from Mor*isons but they stopped doing it a few years ago and now he can't find it anywhere!! lol

I hope your wife gets on ok at the hospital Thursday and then on to see that little gt g daughter of yours.

Jane, I think a pinny might be a good idea......and a cloth and a tray! :-D Poor Janice, I do feel for her. She obviously needed more doing to her knee than some people do. I hope her dogs are trained to 'fetch' when she drops anything. :-D

Jane it seems you have a bionic sister now. If hse has had work done under the kneecap thats probably why she is so swollen. Poor girl.

Evening all,

Paddy is on T.V. so I was off in a flash !!!

Ann, Back in the late 60s I was offered the Managers Job at Calor Gas, in Ellesmere Port, just up the Road from Vauxhall Motors. Didn't take it, as I has two young children, and my wife wouldn't move that far from her family.

Jane, By the sound of things, Janice will be laid up for some time. That's the trouble with knees, they take such a lot from body movements.

William, I loved all the Shipham's pastes. It was the only way you got to taste what these things were like. Never saw the real thing in the war, did we ??? I loved soused herrings for Sat. tea.

Mel, How long had that egg been outside the back door??? nothing worse than a rotton egg, Smell hangs around for ever.

Pat, I have been married twice also, as quite a few of us have. Mine will be 34 years this time around next June. My own children are 48 and 46. The new ones are 46 and 43 ( the youngest is going on SEVEN !!!) He just won't grow up.

Mandy, So pleased your back is a bit better today, take it a step at a time. DON'T RUSH.

Shirt, How are things in Canada ??? trust the family are well, and little horors are behaving themselves.

If I have forgotton anybody, I am sorry. It's my age. !!!!

Frank, what happened to your pic......you've become a shadow of your former self!! lol :-0 :-0 Yes it looks like I am going with OH next Saturday as he's already told his mates I'm going. Hope it isn't snowing by then.......still, they won't play if it is will they. I remember us driving by Ellesmere Port one evening when it was dark. It looked very eerie with all the flames from gases and the spooky lights.

Mandy it seems you are on the mend at last....do take care!

Second time around for me too Pat. Was married 21 years to the first and have been with OH for......21 years. Ohhh he'd better watch his step hadn't he! lol How is little Mocha's cough?

Mel, I bet your OH can't make such tiny things as you can! Nice to have your own egg in an eggcup made by your OH though. I wonder what other things he will be making. I still have the rolling pin my first OH made.......plenty of wear left in it....not often used these days.

I wonder if Liz has managed to get a kitchen for her new place yet.

Morning All,

I was having mouse trouble yesterday. Not live ones the one with the keyboard. It went on a go slow!! The wheel worked alright but the arrow would,nt move. Oh sorted it for me in the end........ The batteries were no good in it. They were Dur*cell but he said we don't know how long the keyboard had been in the shop. Anyway he changed them for me and today I am away again.

Dull day here today, not nice after what we have had with nice sunny days but cold. Talking of cold or colds oh has a cold, he must have caught it from Chris, Jane!!!He was up and down all the time the night before last. He had a good couple of whiskies before bed last night and seemed to sleep better.

Going back to smells, which Denise was on about. Member the smell of the old fashioned caps in your cap gun or cap bomb? They used to come in a tiny round cardboard box that had sort of been pressed out because it had creases round the edges. Sometimes the boxes were pink and they had writing on the tops. When opened there was a nice new rolls of red paper with the caps concealed in it. I loved them for either my gun or my cap bombs or even just putting them under stones and throwing others on top of them or stamping on them.

The smell of dads garage where he kept all his paint and glue and hemp for the plumbing. Linseed oil and putty. He used to have his old byke in there wehn I was very small. It had drop handle bars. He had a big pot f glue that he used to heat up. Stunk to high heaven.
