Sylvia,

Actually I think that you may have misunderstood the bit about Facebook adverts. If I am reading it correctly it relates to the commercial advertisments that appear on the Facebook pages not any advertising that Facebook or any of their associates does to promote the site or services.

This is the Facebook statement at the top of their Facebook Adverts page:

"A note about your personal information
Despite what you may have heard, Facebook does not give your personal information to advertisers — including your name, profile picture or any of your photos."

Jonesey

I first got a message about this a couple of months ago, from a contact, saying that FB was going to be changing its rules

I decided to be prudent and change my setting to no-one

Today I got another message, saying the change was going to happen tomorrow (Friday).

We have a Privacy Commissioner in Canada who was considering taking FB to court a couple of years ago because of the lack of privacy concerns on the site. She seems to have been the ONLY such person to have been concerned to that extent.

As a result of her efforts, FB did change its privacy settings so that one can become almost invisible if one so wants.

My views of FB were to a large extent coloured by the information th Privacy Commissioner released to the public.

That is one reason why I swore I would never join FB

I did join earlier this year (I should have learnt by now never to swear I would never do "wahtever"!!)

I still think it prudent ............ and I don't trust FB!

I didnt know what time the ceremony was to take place until now...I have studiously avoided being in the same room as the TV when anything to do with it came on because as soon as the dreaded words were mentioned I got up and walked out...Real Royalist I am..;)

FB are welcome to use any pictures or details of my Fanny page they want...Delighted to allow them access..!

Hi Sylvia,

Like you I don't particularly think that FB is a very secure site and like yourself I only share very limited information on the site. Although part of my FB profile is visible what it contains is a work of pure fiction. I think that a lot of the security problems that people experience via the site are largely self inflicted.

Whilst we all like to have friends FB is not necessarily the best place to have them as all your FB friends also have FB friends and so on, so what you share with one of your own, probably trusted FB friend, via FB becomes available to potentially thousands of others who you do not know.

For that reason I do not personally have any "Friends" on FB although of course I know and am friendly with people on the site who I recognise via their FB profiles or style. Similarly some FB members have recognised me and indeed have asked me to be one of their FB friends, a request that I have politely refused.

So Wedding Day today lol, I hope that the weather is good for them. It's so nice to hear and see so many people on tv having a good time. I like the way lots of people are having themed parties!

It's on tonight at 7.30 which is a handy time, after dinner, so I will curl up on the couch probably with my little one and watch it.

Sylv, thanks I have changed my FB settings. Like you I am very cautious about what I put on FB and who can see it let alone find me.

we got married in the morning, must have been 11 am.

Got held up after ceremony by local farmer taking his cows "home" for milking.

Had buffet sit down lunch at a local hotel, then drove up to Kendal (from Chester) for the first night.

OH ran into the back of a car at the main T junction in the middle of Kendal ...... he started to go, so OH also began to move, then he stopped but OH didn't. Not much damage fortunately ....... we were only going about 5 mph!

Then on up to Gatehouse of Fleet for 3 nights, staying at Knocktinkel, the annex to a hotel. I've forgotten the name of the hotel, but could never forget the name of the annex!!

Then back to Chester for 2 nights ............ got stopped outside Dundee for going too fast. Policeman decided he couldn't be bothered chasing OH to Texas :)))

Then plane to New York, another to Montreal

3 days at Expo 67 in Montreal

Plane to New York, then another one to Texas.

went to bed for a couple of hours, hardly ever do that, but this chest cold is really getting me down.

I might just try sleeping in the rocking chair tonight .... I can't lie down, and my back hates sitting up in bed!

I did pop in and out, I have to admit. - Really to have a look at the frock.

I have to say, it is quite nice, as frocks go, and she does look very pretty in it.
