I was thinking of Dopey Mr Jones....You have never some across as Grumpy to me but I would think that Mrs Jones may disagree on that sometimes ,and Dopey had big ears supposedly..:)
Hmmmm, possibly also it reminds me of the garden Gnome that was precious to the posh bloke (Geoffrey?)in The Full Monty....

Dea
I have had my first day for a few weeks that I have felt somewhat Homo Sapien as opposed to a wrung out wet dish cloth...I am now back to wrung wet dish cloth mode though after some fruitless searching today of a ruddy JONES family in Flintshire on 1851/41 census so shall retire to my boudior soon for some relaxing reading.
Although I believe I did find his wife and her parents prior to their marriage...WILLIAMS....At least I have not been faced with any DAVIES,S for a while for which I am most grateful as they see me coming and instantly hide never to been seen again if they can help it...

I am obviously going to have to replace my current picture with a more recent one as I am not only being abused on this thread (Used to that) but on most of the others that I post on as well.

I will take a look in my extensive photograph albums and see if I can find a photo that truly reflects my boyish good looks or failing that, one that doesn't actually frighten children.

For you Corrie fans

I was browsing on this site last night

www.georgraph.org.uk/

..... it's fascinating, in case you don't know about it

I was looking for churches where ancestors were married, and I found that the church where my gt gt grandparents were married in 1835 is

"a popular choice with the makers of ...... Coronation Street and has been used as the setting for several big storylines, including weddings and funerals, in the fictitious parish of “Weatherfield”. "

It's St Mary's, Prestwich, nr Manchester

Benjamin and Sarah walked there from Oldham ............ St Mary's had been the Parish Church of Prestwich cum Oldham, and although an offshoot had been recently started in Odlham as the "new" Parish Church, lots of people still walked all the way to Prestwich for baptisms and marriages.

for photos of it go to

That's a very unusual middle name Jax. Does it refer to mothers maiden name? But that would be a very unusual surname too

jax

jax Report 9 May 2011 00:02

I was hoping it was her maiden name as it would make it easier trying to find a marriage...but it does'nt look like it . They also gave a daugher the middle name Robinson but all the other kids have normal middle names or none at all.
When one of these two children died his name was recorded as Spragg so will look into that also

This lot are from Worcester then end up in London Sylv but I also have another lot that are Just London

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 May 2011 00:23

so probably no connection with OH's Taylors from Lancashire / Westmorland / Yorkshire.

They are nearly all farmers and millers, with the odd railway man, confectioner, and ag lab!

TootyFruity Report 9 May 2011 00:35

Jax I posted twice once passing on condolences and once with a summary of Scilly's post, then Dally replied then Renes posted saying she too could see Scilly's post and confirmed my summary.

I think FB doesn't show all posts to all people which is causing misunderstandings. I tested this and discovered when I sign in on OH account and look at GR page he could not see two new posts that had been on the page for over an hour. It doesn't make sense because I was using the same computer.

jax

jax Report 9 May 2011 00:37

I can see those but Renes has said she too can see this post as though toots has mentioned it but I cannot see anything.

No I doubt they they are connected sylv I am wondering if this bunch had a few bob he was a Tailor and they lived in a nice house but whether it was shared with hundreds of others?? and the kids did'nt seem to get married only found two out of the remaining 10 that married so far and one of those is my gt grandmother

ja...x

jax

jax Report 9 May 2011 00:40

So we dont know that Dally can see the summary then? if not she is probably wondering what renes is on about lol

ja...x

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 May 2011 00:41

I can't see my own post, nor can I see Toots' summary of my post

and that is using a borrowed ID that should not have been blocked

so I think you are right Toots, posts are blocked for unknown reasons. I have seen other poeple commenting on this on the ancestry page.
