Hi Sylvia,

I could not see anything either. Never mind...

Hope everyone is well, it's freezing cold today and I wish I was on holidays! :-) :-) :-)

Hope everyone has had nice Mother's Day. I spent mine visiting in laws and then my mum. <3

SylviaInCanada Report 9 May 2011 06:55

Hi Grace

and was it a nice Mother's Day?

It was Mother's Day here ....... but my one and only lives about 6000 km away (still the same country), so had to make do with a phone call.

The weather wasn't too bad ..... chilly for the month of May though! We haven't really warmed up yet. I do hope the warm weather comes soon!!

just thinking of going to bed!

AmazingGrace08 Report 9 May 2011 07:00

Oh it was okay, the sun came out and it was nice for a little bit, then it poured...!

One of those days I would have liked to hide inside and curl up and read a book, but anyway it's nice for the grandparents to see my girl, (she is the last of 10 on my mum's side and the only one on my partner's side) so they always get a kick out fo seeing her.

Other than that it was washing, vacuming,...all the normal things I do anyway.

You must miss your daughter very much. It's nice that she was able to call and chat. Do you skype or anything like that to stay in touch?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 May 2011 07:08

No, we haven't bothered doing Skype yet.

She's lived over there since she married in 1999, but they had their first (and probably only!) child last year, so Skype is becoming more intriguing.

Her husband is supposed to be checking out the best one to get ..... but he's very busy, he's head of departent in a high school

Yes, I do miss her, but we really can't complain, because we left the UK to come here, and left OH's parents behind. My mother was dead, and my father died 3 years after we came here.

It's good that with the internet people can be far away and still close now isn't it.

Do you have a grandson or a granddaughter? I think my girl will be the only grandchild on one side as nether he nor his brother ever want/ed children, so when we had her, she was a suprise!

Grace

it's a little boy, born in March last year

..... to be honest, he's the first boy I've ever had anything to do with! My brother only had girls, and OH's sister had 2 girls and 1 boy, but we didn't see them all that much when the boy was small.

and I'm pretty certain he will be the only one. She's 37 now, and had quite a rough time in various ways.

see you tomorrow night :))

Chomping muffins as we speak! Thanks Sylvs......you do us proud.

A lovely sunny day here too Dea......must raid the wash basket.

Can't be bothered much about the dilly dally thing to be honest. Much as I enjoy being on the 'other side', the improvements on here have mean I keep coming back.

Hanging around today waiting to see if a boiler repair man calls at my daughter's before she goes to work. If not, I'll be on duty... :-(

My Taylor lot....or rather OH's, seem to have originated in Scotland and moved down to Liverpool. Mind you, isn't Taylor the 5th most common surname in Britain?

ja...x - I hope you enjoy chasing those unusual middle names.....knowing you though, you'll find them in a shake of a cat's whisker ;-)

See you later ~~~~~~~

Dea Report 9 May 2011 10:32

Hi Ja....x

Re 'your' Taylors!

You appear to be chasing back to a John Taylor (Tailor by trade) born c 1823 and married to Ann ?

Do you know if he had a brother Joseph (married to Elizabeth), born in Worcestershire c 1816 who was an Artist, as he appears to have passed the middle name Sprague down through his family too.

Interesting?

jax Report 9 May 2011 12:31

I hav'nt got that far with it yet Dea....just pushed that branch to one side for the last year.

I knew two of the Edward Sprague's were theirs as they were on the census's and have confirmed the first one born 1848 died 1849 is theirs aswell as he was a twin with the eldest daughter Jane it seems

I think Ann's maiden name maybe Howells what do you think? married Worcester 1846

Dea

Dea Report 9 May 2011 14:04

It's a 'possible' Ja....x, but there are other 'possibles to.

It does look good though as there is an Ann Howells on 1841 and her father is a Cordwainer so that would tie in with her occupation as a boot binder, but her age is a few years out and you would need more proof that that.
