jax, just saw your reference in my privacy thread to max number of searches at 192.com

You seem to have missed every time I've posted the workaround!

I wouldn't go deleting Ancestry cookies for fear of having to sign in again blah blah, but I do it multiple times daily for 192.com.

The rest of this may help too.

-----------------------------------------------------------

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/general_chat/thread/1268016

One thing I can suggest is that googling sometimes works better than a free search at 192.com. You may have to do it a number of times to train your google for what you want.

Try googling, e.g.,

"Jane Q Smith" www.192.com

the first few times. The thing is that you then get results that show you a location -- city, county and first part of postcode -- whereas using 192.com directly will only get you the name.

You can then check at BT online to see whether you can find a matching entry. You can also do it the other way: find the J Smiths in the probable location at BT on line, then search at 192.com for Smith with the postcode from the BT listing to see who that Smith is. I often manage to match up entries that way -- the household at 192.com is correct (right person with right spouse), and matches an address found at BT.

>>>>>> Another tip for 192.com is how to avoid the "you have exceeded the maximum number of free searches" problem.

>>>>>> Go to where cookes are in your browser -- in Firefox it's Tools, Options, Show Cookies -- select the 192.com cookies, and delete them.

**Be careful not to click "delete all cookes"!**

Then you can start over again.

Oh, the flighty ones we have here. They just don't pay attention ...

... says the one who hasn't a clue what's going on most of the time ...

The knickerbockered one is Ada the Actress, Ada Lennox Monck Hill/Monck Coke (McCock), gr-grf Ernest Hill/Monck's sister, got up in some garb at the Adelphi Theatre c1871.

What I want to know is what G's get-up is, and who's wearing it.

OOOhhh Sylvia,

All my favourite things for breakfast, AND Roast beef for lunch......yuummmmm <3

I am so glad I have you to cook for me today - I have one lovely new cooker on the kitchen floor and a 'hated' almost new cooker sitting on the garage floor - no cooking smells in 'my' kitchen at the moment - hopefully later though!

Morning all, so sorry to hear of the terrible sadness some people have had, thinking of them.

Gins, is Gumtree a bit like FreeCycle? Use that quite a bit, much better than chucking stuff out. Had a lovely lady in her late 70s come a few months ago to take some laminate flooring we'd taken up in the kitchen. She re-used it in her porch and did it all herself!

Gee

Gee Report 15 May 2011 10:59

You can ask for money on GumTree I though Freecycle was giving stuff away?

We sold an old TV for £25!!!

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 15 May 2011 11:11

Well Ginny - I never knew that!

Will look up Gumtree next time.

Dea

Dea Report 15 May 2011 13:21

Well, - just to keep you updated -

The electrician came and fitted it - for free - just like freecycle (tee hee) - I just LOVE him <3 <3 <3

Have done the 'everything on full power for an hour thingy' to burn off all the smells (set my smoke alarm off twice with the fumes!!) and am now letting it cool so I can wash it again.

Then I am going to cook a quick 'late lunch' of quiche and oven chips etc.

I just bet it will be GORGEOUS though !! ;-)

Your oven looks wonderful Dea but was it an improvement on the old one?

Dea

Dea Report 15 May 2011 17:02

In 'looks' Toots, not much better but in quality - yes, and in the way it cooks (although I have only used it once on pre-made frozen prodcts), I think I would give it a 100 times better rating !!

We will see..................
