Just dropping in for coffee before another busy day starts.

Builders found dry rot under the cooker, luckily caught in time and only part of one joist needed replacing. Wonder what other nasty surprises are going to turn up today. At least it's sorted now. Any more disasters I'm going to have to grovel at the bank . Never mind going to work for a rest.

Good morning and I am overwhelmed by tales of childbirth, hardwork, dry rot and now, two breakfasts. May need to go for a lie down. :-D

Thanks Sylvs.......and Gins.

An itty bitty day today. I'm going to take my once poorly friend home for an hour to see how she manages making tea and toast. Hoping to tidy up some paperwork. Must do some ironing (naturally), and then............the world is my prawn!

LK....Im now getting really worried about you woman!

Two questions, how do you know and are you calling Dea a Hobbit

Youve made me laugh very loud at the thought of Diddy Dea the Hobbit.....!!!!!!

FannyByGaslight Report 15 Sep 2011 17:23

Everyone knows that Hobbits eat 2 breakfasts...
A Hobbits biggest hobby is eating.

Its all in the book and for those too dyslexic or lazy to read it, it is in the Lord of the Rings films..
I believe The Hobbit is coming out on film as well...

Which of course should have been done first as it is the first book to read before The Lord Of The Rings.

Gee Report 15 Sep 2011 17:36

I have never read LOTR nor wish to see the movie thank you...not my cuppa

So why do hobbits have two breakfasts?

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 15 Sep 2011 17:59

Because they can and their hobby is eating..

I remember reading the Hobbit at school and enjoying it. Then going to see LOTR as a cartoon with ex over 30 years ago...and the pair of us walked out confused, not sure if the kids that were in there understood it

We had to read "The Lord Of The Flies" in our first term of Secondary school.....Guaranteed to give any child with a little imagination Nightmares....
Did Wind in The Willows after and then Oliver twist..
But I would have any book finished in a couple of days and then sit there bored stiff during lesson as we had to read and dissect it page by page...

jax

jax Report 15 Sep 2011 19:17

Not sure about reading the Lord of the Flies....but we were taken to the cinema one afternoon from school to see it.as the video had not been invented nor big screen tv,s....we had it hard :-D The film was in black and white...good film though, did'nt they want to eat the rather large kid?

Curious thats all

I love both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. The adventures of Bilbo Baggins and Frodo. Their encounters with Gollum and Gandolf. The films were good but they are not a scratch on the book. Looking forward to The Hobbit film being released. Brilliant stuff

OH gave me a complete set of the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbits, hardcover, in a slip case

must have been back in the 80s

it took me about 10 years to get around to reading the books :-D

but I did enjoy them once I got into them ............. and I'm not much for fantasy stuff.

He decided to try reading them 5 or 6 years ago. Not sure how far he got!
