I have started to make Saturday nights - takeaway nights and it really makes life easier for me.........yummy too.

Enjoy your meal Gins!

Daughter bought new skirt and top today and now decides she doesn't like it.........grrrrrrrrrr

Must finish my messaging. ~~~~

Dea Report 24 Sep 2011 19:12

Good idea Cynths !

I have just done a 'chinese', and I have to admit, I bought it from Morrisons!

I usually cook my own but Morrisons do a very good range, if you pick and choose correctly and 'nurture them' a bit !!

Try telling your daughter that you absolutely HATE them and see if she starts to like them a bit better ??

On second thoughts, maybe that wouldn't work with her ???

Anyway, I hope you get it sorted!

Don't spend too much time messaging - we need you on here!

Wooowww !!

I though this was interesting, but it might just be 'me' !

All these people going to trial on the same day - many for manslaughter and getting a 1 day to 1 month sentence - most of the others found 'not guilty'!

Looks to me like the judge was 'orf on one' ??

If I had the time and the expertise, I would like to investigate this, but I don't !!

Interesting though ???

Does anyone know the equivalent of chilli bean paste?

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Sep 2011 05:31

One non-sauce option is to mix in red pepper flakes and minced garlic (or garlic powder). Adding some oil and vinegar to taste will achieve the pepper and garlic flavor of the chili bean paste. Adjust your portions from what is called for using chili bean paste, as you can achieve more with less with red pepper flakes.

I am not that smart I got it from :
http://www.ehow.com/list_7366269_chili-bean-paste-substitutes.html

It has other ideas about how to make it with shallots as well.

I think google is wonderful, I no longer need a medical dictionary. You need medical knowledge if you read Kathy Reichs. It has been an invaluable insight into other books I have read as well.
I have a great reference library but with google I don't use it nearly as much as I used to.

I am watching a chap getting the venom from cobra snakes... don't think we will have that on our cornflakes thanks. Don't normally watch afternoon TV..ooh yuk now I am looking at snake bites...

The other night was watching A & E and had to laugh, one of the triage nurses had to ring someone to say she had discharged someone (ie ticked them off the schedule) before she had seen them. Reckon I could do that no probs.

More fun than trying to retrieve balls out of your gutter.. now that would be painful. ;-) :-S

Our clocks have changed so at the moment I am exactly 12 hours ahead of the Brits and three hours ahead of Eastern Australia... never know what I am with WA and they don't even change their clocks.

Persie who will probably raid Dea's kitchen as she had such a good supply of food yesterday. :-)

I'll give the snake venom a miss thanks anyway Pers!

You can have a lie in on Sunday Breakfast is served, I hadn't forgotten I was rustling my bustle getting it ready:

From Kitchen Sheffield :

Toasted goats cheese with plum relish.

Three cheese & potato pie with spinach, and walnut dressing.

Dea's three little pigs - cheek, fillet, belly, apple, onion gravy.

From Kitchen Persie:

Torte rustica alla ricotta.

Layered toasted panini or flat bread with hummus, roasted tomatoes, crispy bacon and chopped coriander. Add to this baby veges, boiled eggs and creamy feta and you have Sunday Brunch.

Pan fried falafel, or chicken or lamb pieces, warm pita pockets split and spread with hummus.... Stuff with falafel, salad greens or tabbouleh and garlic infused yoghurt or chilli sauce.

Couscous with asparagus and toasted pistachios.

From Kitchen Dea:

Platters of fresh hams and cheeses

Fresh scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream

Crispy bacon, Eggs, any which way you want them , sausages, grilled tomatos and mushrooms, fried bread

Toast, crumpets, danish pastries, croissants, (gluten free bread if required)

Errata : should read " Dixie's three little pigs"
Not sure how such a mistake occurred.

Cereals, coffee etc on the counter...

Persie
:-) :-) :-)

OOhhh - thank goodness you added that correction Persie! - I have just searched through my kitchen for any sign of three little pigs hiding away in there but could find no trace of them :-D :-D

Lovely breakfast again - I will take some of everything please (except the pig's cheek, which is VERY popular in Spain, but not with me :-|)

There is enough here to keep me happy ALL day...........................

Thanks Persie,

Dea,

I took a look at those gaol delivery records on Ancestry that you provided the link to. As you said, very interesting. Those accused seem to have committed offences ranging from attempted buggery to murder including just about everything else in between. The judge did indeed appear to have his lenient wig on that day. More facts will probably have been reported in the newspapers of the day. When I get chance I will take a look.

Gee

Gee Report 25 Sep 2011 08:58

Pers I had

TOMATO AND GOAT'S CHEESE TART
BLACK OLIVE TAPENADE, HERB SALAD

I dont like goats cheese but I always keep giving it a go....this was so mild and yummy

I cant remember what my mains was called but it was a pasta but looked like pastry folds fillied with stuff in it....it was amazing

JB had

DIXIE'S THREE LITTLE PIGS
CHEEK, FILLET, BELLY, APPLE, ONION GRAVY

Dea we went out early so were only in the place for a couple of hours although the others had been in the pub from 4pm! And the good thing is that it is only down the road so we can walk

And the wine was fab too

Delas, Viognier 2009 (FR)
Apricots and peaches with a hint of spice

Thanks Jonesey - those trial details ARE interesting aren't they??

I would be interested to hear if you find anything - must try and have a look myself if I can find some time.
