How sad.

It seems from reading that BBC piece that Gary Speed was on top of the world, yet obviously something wasn't right for him.

Huntington, Chester, was where OH's parents lived from the late 1940s until the early 1980s.

OH said there was a family called Speed who lived there back then, but no idea if it was Gary Speed's family.

Had a lovely email from J yesterday ................ she said that she had seen the set of DVDs of the Cadfael tv series on offer in a catalgue that we both get.

She said she hadn't bought it (not surprising, looking at the price!!), but it had made her fondly remember the many hours we had spent together watching Cadfael (and other mysteries) on the PBS series "Mystery", back in the '80s and early '90s. :-D

Sounds like you could maybe find out about the Speeds Sylvs....you're quite good at that sort of thing ;-)

There's some great photos on FB Gins I agree. At least it makes a change from arguments........... but some discussion would be interesting too.

C ........ nah, not that interested in finding out!!

Actually, I goofed in that post above ........ in-laws must have left Huntington in the early '70s, cos dad-i-l died in 1983, and they'd been in their other place for a good 10 years.

the photos are very interesting, and I posted some myself ......... it's this competition GR is running. It's over tomorrow I think

But it gets a bit boring!

Hi all,

Hi Sylvia, I managed to get to the Tutankamen exhibit. It was quite good so am glad I went. I took it very slowly probably a bit much still as my bandages didn't quite do the job, but all good. Was stuffed though when we got back, as we wandered down Lygon Street for pasta and coffee afterwards. Was nice looking at such ornate work on the gold, and amazing that so many wooden relicts have survived through the years..

Gracie managed to "pick up" a little boy down from the country called Mitchell, who was very sweet on her up until the point she wanted to kiss him and daddy had to rescue him from her headlock!

Gracie's favourite part was the man with the dirty feet (a replica of King Tut's skeleton in a case that she was fascinated with). That was all she wanted to see and kept asking loudly for

Weather is really odd here, muggy then pours then hot then cold. My nehew is getting married this Friday up in the hills, so I am hoping the weather sorts itself out soon! :-)

hope everyone is good, site is still running very very slow for me, it is taking about two minutes to post and change a page in a thread.

Back of to the dr's at 3 to have stitches out, fingers crossed it doesn't hurt :-)

Glad to hear you are okay Gracie... just a couple of tugs and stitches will be out... I can't feel a thing ;-)

Left Auckland on a miserable morning last Thurs and arrived in Wellington to lovely sunshine... weather has been great up until today. Been drizzly all day. Fly back tomorrow afternoon so may get on the boards again tomorrow night.... tho I have been annoying one person, on a certain thread.

8.24pm in Wellington...

Thank you for breakfast Sylvia - you DO make a lovely chicken stir-fry <3 <3 <3

Bet you are pleased to be rid of those stitches Gracie, they get very tight and itchy when they are ready to come out don't they?

Hope everyone is feeling well today......
