SylviaInCanada Report 5 Dec 2011 21:27

we apparently have a new programmer, Dan Branch, helping to sort the problem.

He posted on my thread on New Message Centre Problems on Suggestions

First,

dear xxx
there is a problem with the functionalities(delete, move to) with the browser IE6 e IE7.
We will release the fix soon.

For now you could:
upgrade to IE9 (always better to use the latest version of your browser) is free and the link is:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/internet-explorer/products/ie/home

otherwise you can use other free browsers:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-GB/landing_tv.html

-----

Second

Dear xxxx
message centre should be cross browser but, this morning we have found a problem deleting messages on the inbox etc. IE 6/7/8 are very bad ehehe and there are a lot of incompatibilities issues, but we have fixed the little problem with MC. Anyway we will release few improvements in the next few days

For the loading problem we are almost there, so just other few days and we should solve the problem in the message centre.

------

Third,

Hi xxx
the load doesn't change if you are using IE or FF or Chrome. The difference between them is just the Javascript load and other few things.

About the 3minutes...I am pretty sure that you getting a load pick and maybe after this long time period I am sure you are getting the "error page"

Anyway try always to use the latest version of your browser

-----

get the feeling our browsers are at fault?

SylviaInCanada Report 5 Dec 2011 21:29

then same guy posted on another thread on Suggestions

Hi,

we know the problem with IE7. We will release the fix soon.
So for now you should use another browser or wait for the fix.

btw I always suggest for a lot of reason to use the latest version of your browser.

the upgrade to IE9 is free and the link is:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/internet-explorer/products/ie/home

otherwise there are other free browsers:
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
Chrome: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en-GB/landing_tv.html

thanks
Dan

------

and,

Hi xxx

we will release soon the fix and message centre will work with IE7/8/9 and FF and Chrome. You need just to be patient.

Anyway upgrade the browser to the latest version is a good practise because it contains fixes and a lot of new security things that will help you to surf safely on internet (it's not just for us)

May I say that I am not too impressed with him?!!

Cyn

the treatment for a sprained ankle is to put an icepack on it!

You may use a small bag of peas (kept frozen just for using as an icepack, cos the peas thaw out :-D ) ................. it moulds arouid the ankle (or other body parts) where bought icepacks may not.

I actually wet a face cloth, fold in quarters, put that in a freezer bag, and keep it in the freezer for when I need it, as similarly it can be forced to mould around the body part.

BUT the treatment for a sprained ankle is R.I.C.E ..............

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

sleep tight

Yep...RICE is the first aid advice

In Cyns case, it would have to be a large bag of peas to fit round that ankle :-0

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about your ankle Cynthia hope it feels better soon.

Have changed my pic to one taken of my monster at the wedding on Friday. I hope the photographer on the day got some good shots because he didn't strike me as particuarly interested in children!

Weather has warmed up a lot this week, am off tomorrow to have a day in the city with my sister and my niece to look at the Myer's Christmas windows and try to do a bit of shopping. We always did that when my sister's children were little up to when they became teenagers, it is nice now to have Gracie and my niece is due in January so we will have babies again soon

:-) :-)

Hope you all are having a nice night/day

I had a look at the hotel they put the I'm a celebrity contestants family, plus them when they came out in... over £200 a night The Royal Pine Resort its on the Gold Coast...looked lovely

So boring on here I was playing with my tree and have only just realised why I could'nt find my ancestors on the 1851...and they were not Mancunians

Dea

Dea Report 6 Dec 2011 07:36

I can't say I am impressed by that 'Dan' person's answers either Sylvia.

He sounds just like one of those people you get at the 'call centre's' when you ring for help. You know they are just going down their standard list...

"Boot, reboot, try this, try that, go into DOS and do this........ and when they get to the end and it hasn't fixed anything they then always tell you that you will need to 'uninstall' everything and 're-install' and leave you to it!

You know that it won't work as that is what they told you to do before !!!

Anyway, whatever you do - DONT upgrade to IE9 ! Have you seen what it does to your 'copy and paste's' of info from census's? When you paste them on here they are spread out all down the page, making them totally unreadable!

Dea Xxx

Gee Report 6 Dec 2011 08:36

Dea, Ive seen a couple of census c/p on the baords and remember thinking at the time 'what the'...............all over the place it was with huge gaps

Dont think I'll bother with the upgrade

Dea

Dea Report 6 Dec 2011 08:49

Yep! - That's what happens to your c+p's when you change to IE9 Ginns !!!

Persephone Report 6 Dec 2011 09:57

I have just been reading Dan Branch as well.

I don't think he has really "twigged" to what one actually requires....

A system that works satisfactorily with all our browsers within reason....

Not sure why they changed the message centre before fixing all the other problems the site has... maybe IGP knows...

They have been warned over and over again... complaints, lack of satisfaction and it actually seems to fall on deaf ears (or cloth ones)... enhance sure but after you solve other problems...

And besides I created a folder ... put my messages in it... the name of the folder is there but when I go to retrieve it, I get told it doesn't exist... I got worried that one lot of messages had gone with Dorothy down the yellow brick road... but found them by back arrowing... and stealth and cunning...

Myers is okay for window looking nowt else....

Cyns... hope your ankle heals quickly and you get back on the straight and narrow again...

Cheers all

Persie ..

PS I missed exercise class last week, sent him on his own, but I better go tomorrow.. Then off to Rotorua on Thursday.

Off to bed now...
