LK, my father buried an old sink in the garden and the mint stayed put in that. My mum always made our mint sauce to go with our little lambs. Actually in those days she would purchase a forequarter of mutton from the butcher at the top of the road. The trips the women in our street used to make. My friend (since we were 5) and I often comment about her mother who would be forever going up the road to the shops. She would only get one or two things at a time. She always came over to our place for parsley and mint... we would hear her shoe's on the driveway as she went past the kitchen window. I guess we were lucky in that we only lived about five or six houses down from the top and it was quite a long street.

Breakfast will be served in about quarter of an hour.

Our SIL often appears at our place all dressed up when he is on call with the funeral home. Other times he is a la scruff. Today .. Sunday he was on duty... Whilst there new house is being built we have one room full of their stuff and he came looking for the pot to cook pasta in, a pair of shoes and his fishing gear. Couldn't find shoes or pot so he has gone with one of my pots... but before he could take them he got a call from one of our hospitals and he had to go pick up a dead body. Had just finished his cup of tea when they rang. He loves his job.

Breakfast with a Moroccan touch to it.

Harcha served with home made butter, cheese, marmalade or olive oil

Laasida - bit like porridge only made with couscous and served with honey on it.

Briouats:delicate filo triangles of roasted pumpkin served with sumac leban cheese, & olive tapenade .

Mhancha with Ground Chicken And Quail Eggs

Khubz Araby : these are pita pockets and on this occasion I have put bacon, garlic and mushrooms in them. (I wonder why)

Kefta ( also called Kofta) - have done the meat balls in a pan and there is two poached eggs in there with it.

Baghrir - Yeasted Moroccan Pancakes with orange or lemon sauce.

Berber Omelette - made in a Tajine .. this has red onions, lots of tomatoes, turmeric coriander and paprika in it and his yummy.

Pumpkin, mushrooms & artichoke risotto in an aubergine sandwich with slow roasted tomatoes & hazelnut pesto.

I have also sauteed potatoes and grilled some sausages (choice of vegetarian, lamb with mint, chicken or kranskys with cheese in them)

There is a bacon and egg pie, croissants with brie and mushroom, date scones, pineapple muffins, date loaf, gingerbread and melting moments for afters.

Plus a Hazlenut and Pistachio Baklava

Coffee, tea, juices and hot chocolate.

Good morning Persie.

Well, I have done my 'googling' and I now know what I am about to eat, so:

I will have Khubz Araby filled with bacon, garlic and mushrooms (special for ME !!! <3 <3) and sauteed potatoes and grilled sausages please.

Then I should like some of those Yeasted Moroccan Pancakes with lemon sauce.

Finished off with a Pineapple muffin and a couple of melting moments.

Thank you Persie - it is all delicious !! <3 <3

Just don't tell the Moroccans that I stuck bacon in their pita bread....

And which sort of grilled sausages would you like Dea the lamb are nice?

When we were at "Nosh" the other day the meat counter had lovely cut up cooked sausages to try and aged sirloin pieces which they had cooked to perfection. I bought some aged rump steak.. Rump being a cheaper cut has more flavour but is harder to cook but I am getting to be quite an expert at it now. Any one can cook eye fillet steak, but is tasteless without having a decent sauce of "bacon" wrapped around it as in filet mignon.

Dea

Dea Report 25 Mar 2012 09:05

I will happily go with the lamb sausages thank you Persie. :-)

You are right about the steak - Rump does have more flavour but I always buy fillet as it 'melts' when you eat it. - I always cook it well peppered or with a tasty sauce and trimmings.

Ginns - my ' builder obsessed' 3 year old grandson sits in the back of my car on the way home - I am the dumper truck in the front and he is the 'digger' in the back.

His words all the way home are "dig dig ....chuck! dig dig ....chuck !

I will do that to your veggies for you <3 <3

It was all very lovely !!!

Linda Report 25 Mar 2012 16:39

Hello everyone,
Had the day from "H**l on Friday! Had to go to "Specsavers" appt was long overdue! OH was going to have xmas lunch with his ex colleagues (they put it on hold when he took ill at xmas really nice of them) and I was meeting a friend for lunch after my appt. So decided to take my car (which son has been using ie "taken over" as I dont like driveng OH's car too big for me! All is going swimmingly until the petrol warning light comes on! As you can all guess son is getting cursed to put it mildly! 2 minutes later car dies. OH then has to walk to nearest petrol station to buy can and petrol walk back (by now its raining) fills car jumps in and eureka battery flat! He had left side lights on!!
Phone RAC who only take about 20 minutes to arrive. I have by now cancelled both the opticians (rearranged for Sat) and cancelled my friend (still to be rearranged) Mr RAC works his magic and advises that the fuel line has broken did temp repair (Oh forgot to say the petrol that OH replaced was all over the road) I phone the garage which is in the opposite direction of where we were going and we drive to it and leave the car to be fixed! Have to get a taxi home OH takes his car and goes for his lunch over an hour late!
Son asks if car will be back today as he has to get to studio!!!!
Aaaargh!!!!
Garage call have fixed it get taxi to collect - it was the "male female" bit in fuel line that had come apart - and they didnt charge so one good thing!!
Son drops me home and goes to studio. I collapse in a heap with a coffee and yes I did have a stiff drink later.
Went to opticians yesterday at 4pm as that was the only appt left and today OH spent watching football.
Just going to make dinner now and will leave you all laughing!!! LOL
