Yes Renes it was me on breakfast duty .. I was rostered for Sat morning some sort of bitings and then brunch and Sunday Breakfast.

Saturday's brunch was luverly...

and no I didn't churl the butter ..that would be very rude of me... I churned the butter and then I rolled it out and then I shape it with the butter pats (I have two of them).. do you mean to tell me that you lot don't churn your own butter. It's the getting up at 5am to milk the cows that is the bu**er (and that word is not butter). So is sitting on the low stool while I do it.

I am unable to make the "I can't believe it's not butter" though.

Must go .. am off to chuck around some silage in pastures that are not so green.

Pers.............just go to Sainsburys!

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Mar 2012 22:16

I didn't know Sainsburys did silage... well I live and learn (with Gins around)

Why is you too painful Sylvs?

Would you like me to do breakfast tonight? (that's contradicting terminology)

I am sure I could open a couple of jars or tins .. even go to Sainsburys or Sheffield.

I have the original newspaper re the Titanic.

There is a book on the menus they served on the Titanic. I was going to say something along the lines of the last supper but decided it would be a bit like saying bum in church.

Hi Pers

I ache because I find the angle of most chairs, between seat and back, is wrong for me.............. and sitting like that for 3 or 4 hours, or longer, makes my hips and back hurt.

I try to get up and walk around regularly .................. but that has its own problems :-(

Then I have to wait for the pain killers to calm everything down.

Thank you for offering to do breakfast .............. but I should be OK to do it for tomorrow :-)

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2012 23:01

I saw that bit about little Gracie.

Do hope she's better soon

.............. and I hear the Monster in Wales is also not well ......

......................................... the little one of the male persuasion that is, not the big female one :-D

SylviaInCanada Report 25 Mar 2012 23:06

The very sad thing on Friday was seeing how fast our friend is deteriorating. :-( :-( :-( :-(

He's been told not to drive ..... but that's because of cataracts. One has been fixed, but he refused to put in the necessary drops, so the surgeon cracked down, said NO DRIVING until both eyes had been done, and he HAD to obey instructions!

He turns 80 in about 3 weeks ......... and everyone over 80 has to take special tests every year. There is a road driving test, but also a computer one that tests ability to respond. That computer part is more than a little contentious at the moment ............... so many 80 year olds do NOT regularly use computers!

Anyway, he has changed significantly even in the last few weeks ............... so, please god, he fails the driving test!

I have never had soup for breakfast or sweet and sour pork etc.

I will have a cheese scone thank you.. will warm it up and lots of butter that I made myself.

Even I did not drive for quite awhile before my cataracts were done and for a short while after. Was really weird for the month in between having one eye done and then the other.. I had to go and get those cheap glasses from the supermarket so I could see the computer at work.

Oh and the avatar it is Mt Robson with Berg Lake.

Just thought they might like another view.... yours looked so fresh and clean and my felled over rabbit got up and hopped away.

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Mar 2012 07:47

soup & sweet and sour????

well, you see ..........

................some of them started to take some things away for lunch ! :-D

so I thought I'd better bring out some brunchy/lunchy thingies

my view of My Robson is taken from the train ..... which is round the other side from the road or hiking views. The engineer all but stops the train, especially if it is clear. Nice man!!

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 26 Mar 2012 07:57

I don't drive as you know ....... but I remember how little I could see before I had my cataracts done

so I was quite surprised they hadn't told our friend to stop before now ............... but I think the surgeon also used it as a "punishment". He had refused to put in the eye drops, said he didn't need them, so he got a good talking to (or so I was told).

I seriously don't think he should be driving anyway, as he doesn't remember where he's going.

On Friday evening, he went to the loo, then decided that he had gone there because he was leaving, so he went to the Coat Check ............. but his wife had taken the little token from him, and the woman refused to give him his coat. Then he turned the wrong way and got lost getting back to the stage where the dinner was being held. And I hadn't realised he was so bad ............. I'd shown him the way to the loo, but then didn't hang around right outside the men's loo ..... well, one doesn't does one?! I went a little way down the hallway, but he didn't return that way.

His wife is under great stress ...... they didn't marry until late in life, have never had children, and so it is strange for her to have to look after someone when you have to watch every move, and repeat everything several times..

My OH is trying to remember back to his teens when his grandmother developed dementia, and how they used to handle her. I'm trying to remember back to when J was small and you had to watch out for what she was dong, what clothes she was putting on (if it's sunny, it must be warm :-) )
