Sylvia have you tried a heat lamp and TENS machine. OH likes both, I just like TENS because I don't have to sit in one place.

Glad too here Dea and Renes are feeling better.

Hope everyone is keeping well

Hi Toots

Have heat pad, not heat lamp

There are many warnings against using heat lamps.

TENS machines do not seem to be so common for private use over here ................ the preference is to have professionals apply them

They are available, seemingly only by mail order, but no-one seems to ever recommend them.

Just wondering Sylvs.....why are you so excited about Thomas Edison's birthday?

Were you at his party or summat??

slap.

TootyFruity Report 11 Feb 2011 21:56

We got our TENS machine from the Physio dept at the hospital as part of OH pain management. They ordered it for OH and we paid for it. We have a chart which shows were to put the pads depending on were the pain is emanating from. I was given a half hour training too but it's self explanatory using the chart.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2011 22:05

as I say, I've had the treatment at the physio's, but no-one ever seems to mention buying your own machine

In fact, I googled them a couple of years ago when someone else in England mentioned using a TENS machine. Until that point I'd never heard of them .......... and I could find no Canadian sites offering them. I looked again yesterday, and there are now sites selling them

Bad Cyns

I was just intrigued by the fact that if you put the mouse pointer on the the design at the left of that thing on Edison ... wheels and chains start moving!

We have two, one with four pads and one with two pads. The four pad one is far better. You can control the strength of the pulse and I have be known to go into work wearing one.

Sylvia why don't you discuss it with you Physio. They are best placed to say whether or not it will be suitable for you.

Hi Sylvia,

Thanks for breakfast!

I will stick to a 'light' breakfast just for today - we don't want to tempt fate do we (tee hee)?

Just a slice of toast and several cups of tea please.

Is the pain any easier now?

Thanks Renes,

It's nothing serious - just a little 'tummy bug' of some sort.

I enjoyed my slice of toast at breakfast but just now 'hubby' asked me if I wanted a bacon sandwich ? (Urrgh ! - the very thought !!)

Glad to see you a little brighter - enjoy your 'restful' day, and the Rugby !!

See you later,

Dea x

P.S. to LK - Hope that swelling has gone down now.
