Mine is up on the 16th and they have not emailed me at all so far, they only mentioned the essentials when I clicked to cancel. I added that FMP offer 20% do they have any offers to match that? so will wait and see if I get a reply.

Off to bed now night x

Morning all

Jax phone them tomorrow and negotiate. I got 25% off ancestry worldwide. Also it's cheaper if you buy software with a six months sub. Last year I ended up with three months free because they never cancelled me and the credit card had expired.

My conversation started with. As a loyal customer what discount are you going to give me in light of the fact findmypast which I also subscribe to is giving me 20%off. Their response was we have no discount offers available
So I said then find my past keeps my business and they have 1911 then I was told that although no discounts available they would give me 25% off. Which I took. I also buy up FTM when in sales I end up with a lot of software I don't need but sometimes it works out at a 45% discount on the fees for a 6 months period

OOOhhh - I think my eyes have gorn 'funny' now ????? - I can't see any breakfast?????

No, they are O.K. - I can't smell any breakfast either ?????

Poor Sylvia was working SO hard on those look-ups and sending army records that she was too tired to make any ..

Not to worry, I spy Robert's homemade chicken soup!!!!!!!!!! - JUST the very thing................. Yummmm !

Thanks R

Actually Sylvia, I too have great difficulties saving and sending the records from Ancestry.

It takes me 'ages' and I often resort to printing things off and scanning them in so I can send them to people.

'My' problem lies with my Vista operating system though - total rubbish !!!

Afternoon all

Lovely sunny day here again - although they ate forecasting a little rain layer this week - we do need some

Sylvia - I agree - the death age is correct with Army records and as you say the other Stephen Male is much older - - and I would not have expected a will

In 300 years no Turner, or Palmer, incidentally - has ever left a Will

The only asset I have ever seen - was the Cart in c 1757 - and assume that wore out - :) :) - bless 'em

But we had " Wheels" - have been searching for an example of a Dorset Cart c 1750 - should anyone ever stumble ( not literally) across one

I know I am an absolute Nutter - but everytime I think of my ole Samuel - in the 1700 s - moving around from Farm to Farm - within the same group of villages ( and which their children and grandchildren did for the following 150 years )

it makes me weepy - thinking - At least they could load their possessions and all the kids into the bl&&dy Cart ! - for as long the cart lasted

Suppose that was why

Dea

Dea Report 13 Feb 2011 14:28

I don't know what sort of cart it was Renes but here is a photo of a 'tipping cart' from that date:

I negotiated three months after it was due because I kept getting free access. I think they got muddled with all the free access I've had through the FTM software. I only rang them then because I got a message on the screen for three weeks say access will be cut off in so many days.

It comes down to if you are willing to be without it for a day or two. If so let it lapse and then phone them if not phone them just before it lapses

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 13 Feb 2011 14:42

Thanks Toots

Think I will phone them just before then as I dont like being without it really..I have FMP too ,but its not the same.....

When I was growing up on the farm a cart pulled by a horse was the only means of transporting all the farm needs up to the late 50's when a Ferguson TE20 tractor arrived on the farm. (my cousin was at an antique auction a couple of year's ago and the same tractor was on sale ... he bought it and it is now back in the family along with it's original log book).

I think I will give them a call tomorrow if they dont reply to my message. I too have FMP but as you say Fans its not the same I have too many London births and marriages and my tree is on there too.

I prefer ancestry too and have let FMP lapse for the time being. Prefer the address search on FMP though.

I also let ancestry lapse once before an kept getting emails with discount offers. After about nine months got them up to 50% off. The only reason I hadn't renewed was I was really busy doing other things and had no time for genealogy.
