I did get a royal flush on a poker machine in vegas and won 1000$ but put it back...I just enjoy feeding the machines I think. Last time I went stayed in the Mirage and could of got loads of free meals from the money I was pouring in the machines only ended up with two meals in the end....should have realised after the first time I went

It is a wierd place isn't it Ja....x ?

All those people living in the dark for days on end with the machines tinking away and the 'smelly carpets' !!

Big plastic 'buckets' to pile your money into and to empty into those machines ???

Some people stay in there for days and when they come out they don't know if it is day or night!!

VERY strange indeed !

I did'nt play machines with buckets only poker and you got a slip of paper to take to the cashier. It was a strange place but I love it, cant say I noticed the smelly carpets...were you drunk then Dea? where did you stay?

I think we stayed in the Hilton, Las Vegas !! -

Apparently it was the absolute best for the 'Eat all you can buffet for ??? dollars !!!'

However, when we first arrived, we went down to eat but were just SO tired from travelling that we just wanted a light snack and couldn't take advantage !

We did get talking to a young boy who had taken his mother there as a treat from his first wage packet from working in the local MacDonalds.

Lovely people, but they 'DEMOLISHED' the whole buffet !! - Plate after plate was piled HIGH !!

They both must have been well over 30 stone (each). I couldn't believe the size of people over there !!

Perhaps I should go back and stay for a few months (just to build me up, you understand) tee hee.

P.S. - I think the time before, we were at Ceasars Palace ???

I loved the buffets but never really took full advantage of them although I wanted too...I dont think I have ever been to one in the evening just lunch.
On our last day we used it for breakfast as it was one of our free meals from gambeling I enjoyed that a stack of pancakes with maple syrup for starters lol
Florida is the best place to find the big people I have always found, but as you say it's not surprising with the amount of food they eat.

I think the Americans are dissapointed when they come over here as we dont really have those sort of buffets that cater for all tastes. I was management for a carvery a few years ago and one couple were very put out that they could not go back for more meat only veg.

They thought it was a buffet because they had to queue for food

No Ja....x,

I was not drunk, just tired!!

BUT, I did notice the smelly carpets ! - a mixture of alchohol fumes and lots of people smoking !!!!!

I suppose it would be different now that you can't smoke anywhere???

Yeah Ja...x

It was funny really as we did a tour - I think we started of in Los Angeles where everyone was 'stick thin' !!

Las Vegas was at the opposite end and when we went to Disneyland (not my style really but you have to take a look while you are there!!) - There were SO many mums having to take to 'invalid scooters' to take their children around, it was untrue !!

We followed behind a young couple and I was embarrased that I could not take my eyes off their bottoms in their jeans which were SO large I could not believe !!!

Have they stopped the smoking in the casino's I last went 4 years ago and you could. Infact the only place's you could smoke in Palm Springs was the casino's because they were on Indian land I was told...spent a lot of time in them too, but no free drinks while gambleing there

I have no idea Ja...x but I just presumed that as that was the way the rest of the world had gone that they probably would have??

Can you believe I went to Vegas and didn't gamble! Had great fun watching others, though.

Was 2 years ago and you could still smoke then.

We stayed in the Stratosphere - not the poshest but great fun watching the rides on the roof (too chicken to go on). Had the buffet breakfast - great! (Not as good as Sylvia's)

Did Palm Springs, too - really liked the Thursday night market.

I stayed in the Stratosphere first time I went cheaper then some of the others but was good did'nt go on those rides at the top just watched.
When I went 4 years ago I then knew where abouts I wanted to stay...smack bang in the centre...would have loved to see Celine Dion but it was too pricey...did the helecopter ride over the Grand Canyon stopped to do horse riding like cowboys then flew over Vegas...very good.

I have been to Palm springs twice with a friend who married an American and his parents lived in Los angles but had a condo in Palm springs very handy...she knew the area well too as she and husband had a restuarant there for a few years..
