Hello Stephen, I'm enjoying myself reading etc etc. The only downside about not going to work I haven't really spoken to anyone since Sunday! I'm not too sad about this because I was looking forward to this break for so long that I'm determined to enjoy it. I'm going towatch Real Madrid v Barcelona.

Yes it is Marilyn, City v Argyle on Saturday at 12.00 noon- high noon! Put it this way Marilyn, I'm not going. I'll listen to it on Radio Devon- a lot safer. I remember when I used to have a season ticket and i saw City v Aldershot and the police were expecting trouble and there was a large polce presence. I found that quite frightening.

Pat ,
I shall not be going either , but my brother will.
I once went to the stadium at Hyde Park to see my freinds that live near and was gobbed smacked to see all the Argyle fans swarming to get to the match, it was all GREEN sweaters and scarfs, and on every corner their was a Pasty Van ( Ivor Dewneys ) and quite a few supporters were buying their pasties for lunch , such a eye opener ....
Glad I don't live near the Stadium ...I found that quite frightening !

Hello Again,
Patricia, I once spent a fairly long time without talking to any other person. When I eventually came in contact with 'humanity' again I felt very uneasy and found it hard to hold a conversation.
Marilyn, Driveway coming along a treat. I try not to sicken myself with the one continuous job but vary things by doing others. Today I rebuilt the bin store. Keeps them out of sight and in a tidy order.Tomorrow a bit more on the driveway and then grass cutting.
Nearly time for supper. Then a lovely long shower and off to bed. I'm usually up around 5.00am.........just habit.....nothing else.
Night all.

5.00 am that's early Stephen.I'm still asleep then! I've just watched Real Madrid v Barcelona. There's no love lost here. I should imagine it'll be the same on Saturday at the match between Exeter and Argyle.Hopefully there won't be any trouble. There was trouble earlier on at Hyde Park when City went down there because the Police thought it was an ordinary match! Come on! Glad the driveway is coming along ok and that the weather is kind to you. I'm going to get a cup of coffee and then go to bed and listen to the radio and read. Night everyone x

morning all you lovely people
It is not a nice day here very grey.not one sign of blue in the sky. might have rain.? I think of all those people sleeping on the pavements along the wedding route. they seem to all be meeting and making friends , One mother and daughter on our Surrey Radio had gone to London to do some shopping saw the tents and the camper outers lol and went and brought tent. bedrolls etc and have stayed there themselves. they intend to get a good spot for the wedding. It is getting exciting now. the wish is that all these TV and Radio people would just for once say something and not bring in the Royal Wedding. it is not as if it is something new, it is the same old thing.
I stayed and watched the late news last night and the Lotto came on guess what the guy mentioned it three times. I could have screemed at him. except he drew three balls out and I won another £10. so I had £10 last Saturday and £10 last night.
I will swap it for my hearing to return to normal.
have a nice day

I was having a cup of coffee and looking at TV on the wedding of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. they were showing you the dress she wore telling you the lace was made in Honton Devon and they showed you the lace Museum When I first went there with my sister we were shown all the lace as my Great Grandmother and two of her children made lace for Queen Victoria and we were shown how long it took to make., they did it from the light of a candle.painfully taking there time and using their skill.
The Lace Museum Archivist is a couson of mine through marriage my Great Aunty married her Great Uncle and we go further back than that with a marriage. .

Rita. How lovely is that !! your family made making lace for the Queen, I would feel very proud of that.
Funnily enough my family were Huguenots from France and alleged they were Lace makers ,but I cant find any evidence of that as all mine were farmers and landed on the South West Coast ....
The sun is shinning although a little chilly .
Now where is the rest of you ?

Morning Marilyn, I popped out this morning. I had to post some birthday cards for birthdays next week. I didn't think it was overly warm and the wind is a bit cold. Rita, i don't think I've ever been to Honiton or at least if I had then I don't remember it! i'm going to read my book. It takes places in Siena. The ltialians have got pretty sounding nanes for their streets and churches etc. Ciao!

Honiton made lace for the royal brides for years then one of the Queens think it was Queen Mary had hers made in Nottigham. The Hontion Lace was made for silk worm (ENGLISH ) normal people had it from Chinease silkworms. after that the Queens had theirs made in Nottingham.
I learned Lace Making among many other crafts. it use to take me ages and was not good for my eyes. but I made collars and book marks and edging for dresses and sleeves.
My Mum use to say you take after the family beause they were mainly craft people but Mum didnt know Dads family females were lace makers. we had sailors who did knitting and other craftwork.
Does anyone know why Tony Blair and Gorden Brown were not included on the wedding invitation List ? I dont care really whether they went or not I just wondered if anyone knew why they were not invited. I am pleased they withdrew the Scyrian off the wedding list.

Honiton is a lovely town - it's in a valley. I discovered that when I was on a longish (100 miles) bike ride for charity with about 200 other half-crazy cyclists.

I thought that once you gave somebody a wedding Invite it's a bit rude to turn round to them and say "sorry you can't go"

Not in this case Patricia it would have been wrong to have let him go to the wedding. for what his country is doing to its own people.
Dermot my sister and I had a lovely flat when we went to stay in Honiton and your right about hills we hired a car for the week and it was a new one spoke to you. " your door is not closed " Your seat belt is not on. things like that. the first day we thought we would go to Farway it was a hamlet when our ancestors lived there it has grown a lot now. the thing was we didnt expect to d rive up a hill that was just around the corner the sign post had been hidden by low hanging branches. I dont think I have ever come across a hill like it. a snail could have gone up it faster than us we also went for walks in Hontion and we were puffed out the amount of up hill we had to walk.
The thing about Hontion is you can get to so many pretty villiages and places from there.
