Stephen, I have to admit that I spend far too much time on the boards chatting, when I should be busy trying to get rid of the accumulation of years. Having been a hoarder for a long time, and having inherited some of the hoardings of my mother and grandmother, there is a lot of stuff to be sorted. It would be easy if there wasnt treasure among the trash, just pick it all up and put it in the rubbish bin. But I need to go through everything carefully to make sure nothing of value, genealogical or otherwise, is ditched.

Huia.

Huia, I never used to be a hoarder but I am now, I keep thinking things might come in useful.

Stephen, are you going to try for 2000 by the end of the day?

It is lovely to read all these postings it shows we keep track of each other ? or do we ???????

The sun is out but there is a terrible wind the tall tree's were bending nearly in half a little while ago on one of the trees is a blue tits box but the wasps have taken it over. I wonder if they have a rent book ? or are just squarters ?

Marilyn glad Pete is on the mend . where are you going on your Devon holiday ?

We had rain last night I didnt hear it. but when I got up at 7 and drew the curtains back I saw the gorund was soaking wet. I bet the plants liked that the grass on the lawns has grown a lot since the gardeners came last Tuesday it is full of Butter Cups and Daisys all the Daffs have gone but their stalk linger on . I suppose they will be taken off this week.

Have a good day.

Rita

Rita Report 22 May 2011 09:12

Linda it will not take long for your washing to get dry. the sun is out and the sky is blue so I wonder if it will last ? I saw on the news that Icelands Volcano has started erupting again. I wonder if it will get bad and they ban some of the flights. ?

Did you see the Hat on the News Beau has given her hat to a charity to raise fund for" Children in Crisis" it was up to £80.000 01 the last time I looked. what a nice thing for her todo.

His master is well and truly better , so I must be doing my matron bit OK he still insist on going away tomorrow, so if you don't hear from me for a couple of days you'll know where I am, although probably get internet at the hotel , but might be out and about too !!

Stephen I would not burst out laughing when your kilt blew in the wind., I would wet myself laughing instead..

My favourite Catherine Cooksons books are Tilly Trotter that is followed by Tilly Trotter Weds then Tilly Trotter Widow.but you will not find the last two on film or TV they are only in book form (unless someone know better ? ) I tried for years to get the Wed one and Widow in all the big stores all over London. I have all three in book form. but I was very lucky to get them.

Pat and Marilyn the Tilly Trotter widowed is very sad it is where she goes off to live as a Pioneer. I managed to get Tilly Trotter book hardback when I was in London about 8 years ago then I got a hard back of Tilly Trotter weds., I was speaking to a lady I know about Catherine Cookson a couple of years ago and she asked me if I had Tilly Trotter Widowed ? I said no. sorry, she said I have it and brought it round to me to keep that one is a paper back.

Stephen recall I was telling you about Grans brother who was mentioned in despatches ? I emailed my Cousin and asked her if she knew anything about himj. ? she said he was her brother ( My grans nephew.)
I got an email this morning she said he was mentioned in despatches he was a submariner and the sub was torpedoed off the coat of Italy , The Captain got gthe gong but some of the men got mentioned in despatches. for the exploits prior to them being sunk.
she is sending me the details. so I have that sorted.

I had three Grandfathers in the submariners and one Gt Grandfather and one Gt Gt Grandfather the others three uncles were all in the Mairnes.

It has started raining here and very windy.
I have put my dinner on having an early one today I am having roast potato's a port chop with sage and onion stuffin and apple sauce and garden peas. . I have a small apple pie for after (shop brought )

Rita,

My Clan are the Gordons.

I have a special Gordon Tartan Sash that I carried a lot of places.
It's a bit 'War Weary' looking now and has been put away for my family to have when I'm gone,... along with a long tale of where it's been.

It's really magic what you can get on Family History now.

Had a nice wee break for Coffee and a Bacon Roll.

Catch you later.
