Morning All !

Maddie, It will most certainly be Aggie Westons. This was the usual abode of many sailors. His being listed as a 'Stoker.' This is a generic term given to all who worked in the Engine Room of a ship. Some were indeed 'Stokers' heaving the coal into the boilers but many were Engineers......and were still called 'Stokers' The term is still applied even in the modern Navy.

If you give me his name and Date of Birth and where he came from I'll see what I can do.

It's blowing strong here today but at least it's dry.

Gonna fix out some Yachting stuff today..........it's time to head for the High Seas........well maybe the Boating Pond :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Have a good day ya all !

Keep safe , Keep happy , Keep Smiling
:-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

morning all.

Sun is out today we have been forcaste decent weather today.
I wonder ?

anyone want to buy any spanish cucmbers ? what a silly thing to do to get rid of them before proof had been given as to whether they were the cause of coli? now the Spanish company is claiming compensation as they got rid of their cumbers. you would have thought they would have kept them back till proof was found.

My Uncle Charlie was a Stoker 1st Class but he worked on the engines he was an engineer. when he came out of the navy he worked on the Railway as an engineer.till he retired.

Rita

'I distrust the diurnal vacillations of the weather'.

A posh way of saying 'unpredictable weather forecast' - or something like that. Flowery language seldom used these days, which is a pity.

Morning all you early getter uppers

Sun is shinning here today The first day of June

Hubby and son cut down most of a tree that was dead in the back gaden yesterday while I went out to dinner. Wheere is it now? In the middle of the lawn!! Well I can't cut the grass today can I?

Actually I made headway on the large spare bedroom. I stripped the top half of the wallpaper. Need to get the rest off today. Then go to the DIY to decide what colours to use. I don't want another beige room, even if it does sell houses being neutral !! We will need a new carpet too, oh and probably new curtains. Hubby is going to say I'm more expensive now I'm not working, but not as expensive as getting in proffesionals.

Doggy has gone home, so I need to take myself for a walk today.

Have a good day everyone

Linda :o) XxX

Morning all, I've got workmen here again - working on the roof this time. All that snow and ice damaged some of the cement, so it needs pointing.

Dermot, I can't even pronounce 2 of those words in your flowery language.

Stephen, are you dead now, did that bullet hit you? If it didn't - come back so Marilyn can try again.

Pat, I don't eat salad either, I do try to eat a banana every day but that's about as healthy as my food intake gets.

Linda, DIY is definitely a lot cheaper than getting a professional in, costs us a bomb to get anything done.............. my husband doesn't do DIY.

Welcome back Jean, hope you had a good time away, and hope little Scarlett is better now.

Rita, I'm having the same problem as you signing in, it's a pain.

Wonder if Mo is having trouble as well because I haven't seen her around.

Shelly, why did your daughter cut all of Olly's curls off? He still looks gorgeous though.

We seem to have lots of dog lovers on here... Yvonne, Lady, Cath and Agatha, anyone else got a dog?

Maddie, your fox doesn't count!!

I bet you are more like Ursula Andress in the James Bond Film, you know the one where she walks from the sea up the beach singing, 'Underneath the Mango Tree',

Not that that scene from the film had a lasting impression on me ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

And it's back to the Yachty stuff for me.....coffee break over.
