Alistair Cooke, famous for his weekly 'Letter from America' died in 2004.

How many of us bother to put pen to paper to write a letter anymore?

GRMarilyn Report 20 Jun 2011 11:56

Dermot,

Not me , I hated writing letters, I wrote so many when Pete was in the Navy that I feel I did it for a life time.

I only write in cards now....sadly .

But that's history now....besides the postal stamps needs a piggy bank !! :-S

Though Provoking

“If upon entering some home you saw that everything there was well-tended, neat and decorative, you would believe that some master was in charge of it, and that he was himself much superior to those good things.

So too in the home of this world, when you see providence, order and law in the heavens and on earth, believe that there is a Lord and Author of the universe, more beatiful than the stars and the various parts of the whole world.”

I write letter some of my friends do not have computers. so I write once a month and them to Cumbria. Newcastle and Linconshire and Norfolk. so I do still put pen to paper.
I send alot of emails as well to others.

I had a hectic morning. I went to the Dentist back next Monday. I called into the doctors to get an earlier appointment for my warafin blood test.
then came back phoned for an appointment for the foot doctor he is calling this afternoon at 4 oclock.
I phoned the care people to see if they could arrange a car for me for 29th June for my CT scan to take me to Ashford Hospital. no reply yet.
I did two loads of washing. then did my dinner.
I got a call to remind me of the strawberry tea next Thursday. and The Rotary club phone to remind me of the outing for a drive around Surrey and to stop for tea.

You're busier than HM Queen Elizabeth. :-) :-) :-) :-)

And talking about Queens........ Queen Victoria became Queen on the
20th June 1837..........174 years ago today.......just a wee bit more useless information.

Same here Stephen. You cannot look at them or delete them.

And I've received 15 pages worth too - a summary of all my previous matches.

*Wipes face* thank you Stephen.

*Wipes face again* thank you Fluffy Paws.

That's the bike sorted, but could have done with a bit of help with the mower, had to go out and buy a new one today................ not with my birthday money though.

My Hot Matches are the same, I can see names there from about 5 years ago.

Rita

Rita Report 20 Jun 2011 17:06

I have not had my hot matches come through for a few months. the last ones I had were nothing to do with my family. so I am not going to bother opening them again.

I am once again having a problem getting a curtisy car to take me to the hospital. what a bug bare it has become. I think I will have to contact my doctors and tell them. I go next week for my three monthly c T scan.

You've been having a bit of trouble getting transport lately haven't you Rita? I wonder if the doctor's surgery can sort something out for you. It's worth a try.

Rita

Rita Report 20 Jun 2011 17:16

Never thick Stephen . everyone seem to be having problems with their hot matches. the site is slow as well. why I wonder has all these problem started to come to the surface.?

This will make you giggle we have a laundryroom on this estate we have a book you log your name in with the time you want to do your washing.it works well normally.
a couple of months ago I noticed the pens had run out of ink , so I brought a box of 6 and placed them in the laundryroom for people to use they only cost me £1.50. a month later they had vanished no pens only one pencil.

two weeks ago I brought a tub of toothbrushes held about 10 not good one but useable. they cost me £1.25 I put them in the laundryroom in the tub for people to use to clean the filter out of the comercial dryer when they had used it. . much easier . today I went in there to do my washing and found they too have vanished. someone is taking these things,. I cannot think who would do this. ?
so I am not buying anything else I shall take my own in and bring them back. no one on this estate is that short of money.
