Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Dec 2014 15:13

We have only just finished lunch and I am having a cuppa. Was going to clean the chickens out but I think that can wait till another day. I really must get some wreath rings mossed so I shall have a little go at that after my tea.

Sandra managed a small bowl of soup, I made a large pan so she can have some when ever she can manage it. She's asleep at the moment. She's not been sleeping very well so when I saw her nodding off on the sofa, I thought she'd be more comfy in her bed, so that's where she is now. Sleep is the best medicine I think. She did sleep better last night, I found some cough medicine which seems to be working so lets hope she carries on sleeping at night then hopefully it will help her recover.

Glad your bedroom is finished now Jane, only the curtains to go. Did Chris shave the bottom of your door so you can close it now? You've just got to put everything back then forget where you've put it and then spend the next few weeks trying to find things again lol. Well that's what happened to me :-D.

I'm just wrapping Sandra's Christmas presents up while she's asleep, almost finished then I can put them out of sight ready for her.

Yes Mel, I did take the sticker off the envelope, she'll have to use a little glue to use it because the envelope stuck to the back, but she won't mind.

Well, I'd better get back to wrapping up Sandra's presents before she wakes up
Bye for now

Afternoon all,

Very frosty here this morning but we have had a lovely sunny day .

The new door is on after a little panic :-0 they couldn't find the keys for the door ,then son spotted them cling filmed round the handle phew !! i had visions of us having a boarded up door for the night .
We were lovely and warm ,just felt the cold air when some one wanted the loo as they had to go into the hall where the door was off ,i closed all the other doors so it kept the heat in ,all the cold air was going upstairs !!

Hubby's now having forty winks in the chair :-D i can hear snoring :-D

Oh i hope Sandra soon feels better ,as some one said better now than at Christmas.

Thanks Mel and Kim for your cards ,they arrived this morning .

Right i'am off to write a few cards ,i did remember to get stamps the other day , what a price !!they can cost more than the cards !! :-0

Jane Report 6 Dec 2014 16:29

Gill it will take me for ever to sort my things out.Chris is putting his clothes back in right now. Some of my hanging clothes and a suitcase full are actually down at Fitz's place.
The door was done this morning out on the patio.Thankfully it wasn't too difficult to get down and back up the stairs.I think he has just taken off he right amount. There is one bit that still rubs on the carpet. But the floor is uneven there .I don't think it should be a problem though.

A drop of soup is just right for a bad throat and like you say Sandra can just have some when ever she fancies.Nice and warming too on a freezing day like this.

Mel I'm sure your candles will look much nicer than ones already used.I have just found the Garland for my Mantlepiece. It was hanging in the garage. So Iv'e dusted it off and put it up with some lights .Looks pretty :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Dec 2014 17:06

All your cards were posted at the same time. It is interesting to see who of you have them already.

Just mossed 8 rings and lost the light as I was doing it in my shed. Have to feed the hogs now and then have a cuppa. Oh is still out working in his shed as he has power in there.

Glad you go tthe soor on Mandy and found the keys!! :-0

Jane

Jane Report 6 Dec 2014 17:54

Phew Mandy that would have been awful if there were no keys !.At least you know you are all safe tonight :-D

Mel, I had Kims card today but not yours.I think things go a bit haywire at this time of year with the post.I think everything gets there in the end(fingers crossed)

I have had a go cleaning some windows with my new Va* hand held thing. Its darned good :-D
Frank did you say Ros has one?

It's been a right old job keeping the Wood burner going this afternoon.I put a massive log on and it just wouldn't burn properly.Ive used so many firelighters. But I think it is there now.Chris is sat right next to it in his comfy leisure pants(I think thats what you call them)Look a bit like Jimmy bottoms. He has finished putting all his clothes back now and there is nothing more to be done in the bedroom ,so can relax now.He has worked his little socks off over the last few days.

I think Christmas trees are about the same price this year as they have been for the last few years.I had a quick look at the Garden Centre. It was like a forest ,there were hundreds if not thousands, and the smell of the pine was so nice :-DIt will be next weekend I think when we will get ours.

Steak and Chips for us tonight, with Mushrooms, tomatoes, peas and a Cauliflower Cheese that needs to be eaten .Golly I feel hungry :-D :-D

Fiona Report 6 Dec 2014 18:18

Mel ,In our church we have Lilac candles for advent and a white candle for Christmas day, and our minister Joanne wears a lilac sash round her neck
also the lights behind the organ are green through the year but change to lilac at advent.

MillymollyAmanda Report 6 Dec 2014 18:31

The door looks a bit bare now as we don't have the door curtain up ,it does seem strange to see a white door there and not the stained wooden one .

Does anyone know how to move a page to the left ?
I've moved the page over to the right and i carn't get it to go back ,i move the curser over the edge of the page and get the two little arrows sign pointing to the left and right ,i've then held the left side of the mouse down to try and move it but it won't budge !!!

I had to smile this morning ,Chelsea said " Nanny you are the best Nanny in the world you are always making nice things for us and buying us lots and lots of presents " :-D :-D
She is such a darling at times ,then the next minute she being naughty !!!

Jane

Jane Report 6 Dec 2014 18:58

Can't help you there Mandy. What if you turned off completely and then back on again.Would it go back to normal then?

Aaahh aren't children sweet :-D Angels one minute and little devils the next. But nice how she appreciates her Nanny :-D :-D

It takes a while to get used to something different in the house.I know when we had our windows done it seemed strange to have everything white instead of dark brown wood.Especially our window sills.I hated them .
I will be so pleased next year when the decorator comes back to do our Hall, stairs and landing after all the scrapes and gouges that have occurred with getting all the bedroom furniture upstairs. It all looks such a mess :-S

Annx Report 6 Dec 2014 19:55

Evening All,

I like your name for the hogs address Mandy! :-) That's lovely Chelsea said that to you .....better than not saying it and still being naughty!! lol. I can't believe Katie will soon be 5......swoon!! It's good you found the door keys and didn't have to batten down the hatches.

I got card from Mel and Kim this morning.....many thanks and I haven't seen any like yours before Mel......it's lovely!

I hope Sandra feels better soon Gill. At least she has her pretty tree to look at from her bed now. I had something similar a few weeks ago but it didn't last too long thank goodness.

So, at least one of you has all their clothes sorted now Jane. It took me ages to clean all the dust off the insides of our wardrobes and drawers when we had new ones. Even then when the clothes were in situ they kept picking up bits of dust I'd missed! I had nice clear varnished woodgrain window sills at my last house. First OH picked out nice pieces of wood with attractive woodgrain and made and fitted them all. Here everything was white too which seemed strange at first and can mark and stain easily, but at least you can repaint. I'm glad they hadn't fitted plastic sills as they can swell if a bit of damp from any condensation gets in them. Those window cleaner things sound good.......I might have to get one too. :-D

Fancy Fitz being in the downydumps! It's not like him, but I suppose it will be different this year with losing his mum, not buying presents for her, visiting her etc. He has written great little comments on the cards he's sent me as I'm sure he must do on all the ones he sends. I think he needs to track down some more interesting ancestors to give him his spark back!! Mind you, OH loves Christmas but hates writing his cards or getting presents for other people so he's not alone.

Love your mirror decoration Fiona. I love picking up ideas like that.

Annx Report 6 Dec 2014 20:06

OH's shoes arrived today and will have to go back as they are too tight!! He tried a pair of the same shoes, size and width, in a shop and they were fine as well. :-S We've also sorted the satnav and ordered it as well as my new laptop and wireless mouse. I've also got him one of those furry trapper hats for footie. He thinks he looks like Biggles, but I think he actually does look like a trapper with his grey beard!!

David asked me to say 'Hello' on the thread for him. His wife has had her operation and is on the mend now. :-)

Mandy is it happening just on Genes or on all sites? I found that removing that link made mine ok on that page again.......I had no idea it could cause things like that so thanks!

When I got back from beading yesterday, OH said Radio Leicester had been and he and 2 neighbours had been interviewed about the builder's plans. The neighbour who has boundary conflict had rung in to speak, but they decided to come and look themselves. I don't know if/when it will be aired.

Mel have we seen a pic of your advent wreath? I can't remember seeing one with candles. I think it was agood idea to leave your new candles on......can't spoil a ship for a ha'porth of tar. ;-)

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 6 Dec 2014 20:23

I've done it :-D :-D :-D you hold the curser over the bit where you type until you get a little arrow then hold the left side of the mouse down and then you can move it about :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

That's the trouble with having haul stuff upstairs ,it carn't be helped really ,hubby's always catching the walls with stuff ,like today he was sawing the old door frame out and cut into the walls with the saw :-S a little filler and emulsion and you won't notice it .

Frosty out side still ,but i think the temp should go up a little in the night .

Well that's odd that the shoes are the same as the ones in the shop but these don't fit ,i bet OH wished he had kept the first pair now .....who made him send them back :-0 :-D :-D :-D

Frank Report 6 Dec 2014 20:57

Evening all,

XXXX FACTOR ON. :-( :-( :-( So I am out of the way for a while.

Yes Jane we bought a Dyso# last year, I put the charger in the cloak cupboard, where the ironing board sits as well. Easy to get to, and the charge lasts about 20 minutes. It ran out this morning as Ros was doing round the ceiling, after the COB WEBBS. I don't think these CONKERS are working.

Ann, you will have to sing "DAVY CROCKETT" when OH goes of to a match with his new hat on :-D :-D :-D

Don't mention shoes I still haven't found the receipt, and the company haven't found the shoes at the warehouse. But fortunately I have been stretching a pair Ros bought me a few months ago, which now fit perfectly.

Hope Sandra is feeling a bit better after her soup and sleep. She and you don't need that over Christmas.

Mel, Have you decided on any names yet ???

Mandy, The pages have been all over the place this passed week. One minute it's wide then small. and yesterday my post went into a little box !!!

Glad you found those keys, what a strange thing to do with them, anybody could have had one made from them, and checked who bought that door. Ready made for a burglar. :-0 :-0 :-0

The local pub has scaffolding all around the building. The signal for the T.V. is bouncing off of it, and we couldn't watch the match so went to out other pub that has £1.92 a pint. We will be back there Monday night as Tony wants to see Man Utd.

How are you all doing with your Christmas shopping. Ros has finished buying, and has wrapped every present. They are everywhere. She has given Tony and Val's theirs, as well as Martine. Conrad and Jan can take all theirs on Wednesday. When Ros takes Lewis to the dentist to have two teeth removed, she will take theirs to Toddington. That will give us more space in the lounge and conservatory.

Popping on to Ebay for a while.

See you in the morning.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Dec 2014 21:19

I think it all depends on the person who makes the shoes or the machine which ever it is nowadays. It can also be the leather. One may stretch a bit more than another.

I did take a pic of the advent ring but it was in the doorway of the shed and I think the sky was too light behind it. I make it the same as the wreaths but with four bunches of everything instead of three for the rings. I did put different bows in it this year with three loops instead of two which I do for the rings. I always think Father, Son and Holy Ghost with the threes and I did put three ivy leaves around the central candle.

The traditional candles for a ring are 1 pink 3 liliac and the one in the middle white the Christ Candle. We have had the right ones in the past but I don't like them and they are expensive.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Dec 2014 09:51

Morning all and evening Kim,

Sunshine and rain this morning and it's not cold now is that a good sign or not?

Oh getting ready to go ringing and I am going to start collecting stuff for my wreaths. Only thing is one of the kinds of green stuff I usually use from up the road, and I have done for the last 20 odd years, they have cut down most of the trees and the wood has a new owner. I may have to think of something else but oh has cut our other green conifer up so high I can't reach any of that.

Gillx Report 7 Dec 2014 12:49

Hi all

Strange weather here today, lots of sun but we've just had some hailstones. I heard there's a chance of a white Christmas this year. Sandra would love that, every year she hopes for snow on Christmas day, she might get her wish this year.

She's feeling a little better today so hopefully she'll be back to her normal self soon.

What a panic you must of been in Mandy when you couldn't find your keys, it was lucky your son found them. I bet your hall looks a lot brighter now with the white door?

What a shame the shoes you ordered for your OH Ann didn't fit, will you go back to the shop and buy the ones you first saw?

It does take time to put everything back in place Jane but I'm sure you'll get there in the end and have everything sorted in your new bedroom, then it's the hall stairs and landing to look forward to :-D :-D.

I'm like Ros, Frank. I've finished all my Christmas shopping and have everything wrapped up now. I started wrapping Sandra's presents yesterday while she was a sleep and then just carried on and before I knew it everything was done. It's a shame you never found the receipt, but lucky you managed to stretch the shoes Ros bought you. Are you still looking for the receipt or have you given up? I'm sure it'll turn up when you least expect it.

It sounds like I was the first to receive the Christmas card you sent Mel and I think I'm the furthest away. Very strange how the post works.

Well, I'm off to get Sandra the last of the soup I made, her throat is starting to feel a little better so I'm hoping she can manage a bit of chicken I'm making for dinner. I think all the sleep she had yesterday helped and she slept well last night too, so that's good. :-) :-).

Gillx

Gillx Report 7 Dec 2014 14:13

Just realised my mistake. Sorry Fiona you're further away than me from Mel. Been looking at the weather on tinterweb there's a blast of cold on the way and snow in Scotland, have you got snow yet Fiona?

Sandra's looking forward to the chicken I've cooked so I'm going to dish up now, hopefully she'll be able to swallow it and it won't hurt her throat to much. She said it's feeling a lot better today.

Frank

Frank Report 7 Dec 2014 14:36

Afternoon All,

I thought I had posted this morning, but I see I didn't. MY BRAIN HURTS !!!!

We have a bright sunny cold day here, earlier we had a real down pour. BIG spots, as I was dashing between the conservatory and the garage getting in all the box's for the Christmas tree and decorations.

I didn't think we were going to bother. But once I saw Ros moving tables and hovering the skirting, I thought I know what's coming next. Oh how I know her thoughts !!! Outside lights can go up tomorrow.

I hope you find enough greenery for your wreaths Mel, Can't you ask the new owner if you can rummage in his wood for what you need/want.???

Glad Sandra if feeling a bit better this morning Gill, a nice chicken dinner will do her the world of good.

We won't be eating till around 6.00 pm. That's the usual time we eat during the week, and it seems strange having Sunday dinner at 2.00 pm like I did when younger.

West Ham on the Radio today the score is 1-1 at half time YAWN YAWN. Sorry, you girls aren't interested. 2nd half just starting. BYE

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Dec 2014 15:14

Enjoy your match Frank.

Sun's out here but we had rain this moring.

Oh came back from ringing minus my drivers side wing mirror. Some bloke in a transit van did'nt give enough room and smashed the mirror to bits. He and Nick looked everywhere for the back cover but could'nt find it. Now I have to get a knew one so shall ring my little man in the morning. At least it only hit the mirror and not down the side of the car. MORE EXPENSE!

Going up the garden to see the evergreen tree up there and see if that wil be any good for the rings as it is called Summer Snow nd has white bits in it.
