Morning all, Evening Kim,

Still have frost on the roofs all around. and the sky looks black. Is it rain ?? or SNOW ??

I am being summond to find the gutter hooks for the outside lights, that means going into the COLD GARAGE.

The friend from BEN phoned this morning to cancel his visit, he has a toilet that is leaking, and has to wait for the plumber.

Will pop back later.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Dull here this morning but not as cold as yesterday.

I hope Sandra feels better today and can get back in her own room soon. Please give her my wishes for a speedy recovery. <3

Got up late today so I am behind with my tasks. I want to have a good go at the wreaths today if I can.

Frank you seem to attract trouble in that pub!! I suppose it is because the beer is cheaper that people drink more and get drunk and quarrelsome. Still it was nice to get a free pint in the end.

Gill your squirrel sounds a real character coming when you call her. I have one of my Robin's which will feed from my hand but dos'nt stay on my hand for her mealworms like her youngster did. She come in the shed when I go in there as much as to say "where are they then" I keep a pot of worms for her in there and now she has a dish they can't get out of and I put some of those fat sticks in there the other day and she only eats the pink ones. They are funny arn't they. I expect they have their likes and dislikes the same as we do. I shall have to try her on the sunflower kernals and see if she likes those.

O Frank thats not a good thing just before Christmas. I hope he can get it sorted soon.

Frank

Frank Report 9 Dec 2014 13:49

The trouble was at our local pub. The person concerned has been trouble before and was banned by the previous landlord. I did warn the new people what he was like, and they said they had been warned by others. So I hope they take notice now and ban him all together. He's already had one good hiding from another chap, for calling a poor woman who had died an "OLD CO#" He doesn't seem to learn. !!! If he is allowed to abuse people liker he did me last night. It will drive people out of the pub. Which would be such a shame as they are trying so hard to attract customers with a very clean pub, good food. and they have even put SK# T.V in the bar, and a wood burner in the lounge.

Couldn't find the hooks for the outside lights, but fortunately we had some other type, which we used. When Ros opened the light tree that sits on the lawn, there were the hooks for the guttering :-| :-| :-|

Thanks for your card Fiona and Jane they arrived this morning.

Just had confirmation from the Chinese Restaurant for the table tomorrow night.

It's a bitterly cold wind out there today.

We were suppose to go to the new neighbours this morning for coffee/drinks and nibbles. When it got to mid-day I went round and made my apologies for not going round. No problem said Pat. We can do it another time !!!

Ros has just made a cuppa, so off to drink that and have a mince pie. !!!

Afternoon All

WET WET WET & COLD & WINDY

Been putting up more Christmas Decorations , Sofia is coming down later & Jake & Katherine, all will be staying for dinner so we are going to put up the artificial tree, in the dining room & decorate the Christmas Cake.
this Saturday coming all the family will join in and go down to the Garden Centres to buy the real Tree, then we will put it in the garage and the following weekend the 20th we will put up the real tree in the living room, that way it will still look good for Christmas.

Another Christmas Poem

Happy Christmas Memories.

Dae ye mind O Christmas lang ago
When we were only wee
There wurnae phones nur laptops
in presents neath the tree
We were happy wi a jigsaw
an annual or a game
a dolly fur the lassies
an fur the lads a train
an then if we were lucky
a big selection box
Then sometimes, no sae lucky
yer Granny's knitted socks.

A Christmas Legend.

Three trees shivered
in the cold moonshine,
A date palm, and olive
and a dark green pine.

They whispered together
saw a light in the sky,
Paused, secrets forgotten,
heard a new baby's cry.

They stood in the yard
by the child's manger bed,
"What can we give him?"
the gentle pine said.

The olive gave oil
to sooth his small feet,
the palm promised dates
all sticky and sweet.

"But what about me?"
the poor pine cried,
"I can't think of a thing
Iv'e tried and Iv'e tried"

Hearing her cries all
the stars tumbled down,
to light up her branches
like a bright golden crown.

Then the pine tree stood tall
so the baby could see,
On that first Christmas Day,
His first Christmas Tree.

Moira Andrew.

Both little poems were a treat, thank you both.

Roast lamb and roasted veg. tonight. All the lights are on and looking smashing.

I decided I fancied some sausage rolls this afternoon, so baked a load. The nice little ones that you can just pop in your mouth.

We have had Eden on all afternoon, with David Attenborough in Africa. The filming is amazing. How many hours they must film is anyone's guess. Will turn over for the News at 6.00 pm.

More Football tonight, so I will be in the conservatory. from 7.45 pm

Better go and see how the meat is doing.

Glad your cake/s turned out well Mel, NO PICKING AT IT NOW, will you ????

We have curtains :-D :-D.I can't wait to draw them tonight now.I am pleased with them .Just one thing that needs doing and that is the Ball things that go on the end of the poles.Only1set was the correct one.So I have odd ones on the other 2 poles at the moment .The chap will sort it out and them come back to put the right ones on.
I went out to buy new lampshades and ceiling lamp as the ones I had bought were the wrong colour. Now they have been changed so everything goes :-D I do need to get a new duvet cover though as the one on at the moment isn't quite right.

Thanks Mel and Fiona for your cards today.Mel the colour is just right .I do like the little fold out Xmas tree :-D..You mentioned our snowmen that we made a few years ago.I wonder if we will be making more this winter???.That seems so long ago now.Remember dear old Chester out in the garden loving all the snow?My lovely old boy :-(

The wind is really blowing up here. One of the Olive Tree pots blew over :-S.I think tomorrow is not going to be a very pleasant day.

Hi Maureen.Nice to see you again.I didn't think you would be back till the New Year lol

Frank that chap NEEDS to be banned from the pub doesn't he.He sounds a right nasty bit of work, and as you say it is folk like that who will stop decent people from going there.I am so glad you didn't sock him one..It could have been you with a ban !!!!

Gil I hope Sandra is feeling better again now.How horrible for you all to have that disturbed night with all that hail!!!!.Is it a special bed that Sandra has as you said about having to dismantle it to get to the wallpaper?

We also finally have a blind in the ensuite, after a very very long time without one.Chris has just gone up to pull the bedroom curtains and the blind. Our ensuite is at the front of the house so I will feel much happier now

Mandy what lovely pics ,all those lovely lights and a very happy little girl :-D :-D

I don't believe it..The Olive Tree pot has gone over again and the pot has cracked :-S :-S...Chris says it can stay on its side tonight.

De boned Chicken with a Sunblushed tomato and Parmesan marinade.(one of my favourites from Waitr***).I'll do my Hassleback Potatoes and Roast some left over parsnips and carrots and do some Broccoli

I must read back over this afternoons posts as I haven't really had a proper look yet.

Evening all,

What a cold day it's been ,i walked to the dentists and the wind was enough to cut you in half !!
Just had to have two x rays in the dentists and a scale on one tooth at the back and one tooth near the front ,she said it's been a while since i had an x ray so she wanted to see how my gums were and every thing looked good so that's me done for another six months :-D

Thanks Frank, Fiona and Jane for your cards they arrived this morning ,posted mine this morning so they are on the way.

I seem to have 101 things to do today i didn't know where to start really but i was pleased with the jobs i got done ,i really should make a list .

That's it Frank you give him what for !! he should be banned ,spoiling your night out with his outburst like that .

So it's all looking good now then Jane ,you'll be pleased to be able to close the curtains tonight ,you never know who's looking in when it's dark .
Oh what a shame the pots broken ,best to leave the both on their sides with this wind , it seems to have got windier here the last hour , i opened the door to let Toby out and the wind nearly took hold of the back door it's so gusty !!

All change for tomorrow ,we have a load of logs coming at 8 o'clock in the morning !! hubby had ordered it for yesterday but they forgot !! so it's log carting first thing ,then into the church for a school play at 11 o'clock ,then hospital in the afternoon ,then church again at 5 o 'clock :-0

Jane

Jane Report 9 Dec 2014 18:31

Crikey Mandy I wouldn't fancy lumping logs around tomorrow .You will have to wrap up warm .I can hear the wind in the wood burner and the logs are burning very fast.I keep having to have a jiggle with the controls to slow it down.
That was good news at the dentist then.Mind you 6 months goes so quickly you will be back again before you know it.I must be due for a visit in the New Year.

I forgot to say I booked a holiday in Paris today.5 nights in May :-D.There so many places we didn't get to see in July ,so Chris decided we need to go back :-D :-D

My dear friends, I'm sorry I haven't been on lately, I do think about you all and have had full intentions of doing some posting. BUT something always comes up to take away the time I need to concentrate on write something sensible on here. The same has happened tonight, my one hour of R & R has become 30 minutes
So tomorrow (I've just had a steam of text disappear????) I'm going to make time to try and catch up with things and let you know what's been going on in our neck of the woods, such as it is.

So until tomorrow - take care and sleep tight.

Half time, so I thought I would pop in .##After dinner tonight I went into the kitchen to wash up. Filled the bowl with hot water, tried to turn the tap off and it wouldn't. PANIC. Boiling hot water going down the drain. I rang the new plumber. He came straight round, turned of the boiler and water. Took the tap apart and the washer in the hot tap had disintegrated . He popped home and was back in minutes (he lives just round the corner) put in a new washer, and everything was fine. He put the water back on and the boiler. I asked what I owed him, he said a TENNER, No way £20.00 went into his hand.

Nice to see you around Will, We have some new girls join us. One from the WIRRAL, and one from Spain. I've already chatted them up, so you are too late. :-D :-D :-D ;-) ;-) ;-)

Match started again so will say goodnight all, see you in the morning.

Lovely to hear from William. I did have an email from him today and meant to tell you but the pc kept going off the web again and I jsut could'nt get back on till a little while ago before we had dinner.

We had roast pork loin and it was delish, parsnips, roasties, green beans and peas with home made apple sauce.

Another few days away Jane. Good that your bedroom now has curtains and the on suite too. You will feel all cosy now and safe. So just a new quilt cover now and all will be tickerty boo.

Been quite windy here today with that fine rain that sticks to you as Mandy would say. When I went up the shop late afternoon the lights were on at the football field and the rain looked like clouds of smoke blowing across.

Yes Mandy you watch it tomorrow lugging those logs about.

Oh shut the bantams in tonight and when I went out to feed the hogs he had left poor old Cockle out, the eldest cockrel. I chased him round and got him in the run but he was there for ages and would'nt go up the ladder to the house. I think his eyes arn't so good anymore. Oh came out with me and knelt down and caught him and put him in the house. Then nearly closed the door as the wind is blowing that way and straight in.

Did some more wiring this afternoon. Must get a few finished as when I went up the shop Ann in there said someone asked about them this year already.

Hi all

Another late post from me again. Been busy today looking after Sandra she has now got a cold on top of everything else and is feeling fed up with it all now. She hardly ever gets ill but when she does it's normally quite bad and this time is no different for her. I hope she's better in time for Christmas.

Her dad and I weren't very well a few weeks ago and that went on for almost two weeks so I know how she feels. There isn't much I can do except give her medicine and make her food. I made a beef stew today which she had a little of, there is some left over so she can have some more tomorrow if she feels up to it.

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes for Sandra. <3.

No Jane it's not a special bed it's just a small room, so the bed had to be taken out for me to be able to get to the wall, it's an old bed that has springs and a headboard and footboard which hold the base of springs in place, it's quite heavy and takes two people to take it down, so hubby and I managed to get it out without disturbing Sandra's little Christmas tree and have now put it back, I just need to make the bed up then she can sleep in there again tonight. I decided to wash her bedding yesterday and have ironed it today ready to go back on her bed.

Mel do you have any photo's of the robin's on your hand Sandra and I would love to see them, if you do? Wildlife can be so funny sometimes, Rosie our adopted squirrel was back again today, but this time took the nuts from the back door and promptly started burying them in all my pots, cheeky little thing.

It is nice Ann to have such a tame squirrel and she is such a funny little thing, she even brought one of her babies into the garden earlier in the year but wouldn't let him come down to the bungalow, she seemed to be keeping him at the bottom of the garden which is almost 80 foot away, but it was nice to see them both together. We've only seen them together once but hope to see them again next year.

Sorry to hear about your pot Jane, be careful the roots don't get frost in them, maybe you could put a fleece around the pot. Leaving it lying down is probably the best thing given all the wind we've been having and the weather is set to get worse, better to protect them before that happens.

Nice to hear you now have curtains in your bedroom, you're nearly all finished now.

Good job you have a plumber close by Frank, you're not having much luck lately, what with your tap, the fella down the pub and the hooks for your guttering, let's hope your luck changes for the better soon ;-).

Hello Will, I'm the girl from the Wirral Frank has chatted up :-D :-D.

Thanks Fiona for the Christmas card, I'm hoping to post my cards to everyone this week, I think I'll have to ask hubby to post them for me on his way to work. Sandra is to unwell to go out and I don't want to leave her on her own.

I liked the poem's Fiona and Mel. Hope you're getting used to your new cooker Mel and the cake turned out perfect for you.

You've got a full day ahead of you Mandy, be careful carrying all those logs, you don't want to do yourself a mischief

Going to make up Sandra's bed now so she can go to sleep, she's just waiting another half an hour so she can take some more medicine before she goes to bed.

I'll try and get online earlier tomorrow if I can.

Morning all and evening Kim,

Quite a bright morning here today but everywhere is very wet and I have some washing to go out. Think I may chance it and get it a bit dry before brin ging it back in.

It turned very warm last night and when I got in bed I had to have my arms out on top of the cover.
I have fed the birds but not let the girls out yet so I better go and do that.

Gill I hope Sandra had a better night back in her own bed and hope she is a little better today. These colds hang around for a long while and on top of everything else she must have felt dreadfull. Sleep is a good healer. <3 <3

Morning/Evening All

What a sunny morning.I didn't think it was supposed to be like this.I might actually hang some washing out .

How lovely to have a tame squirrel Gill.Just a bit like an outdoor pet for Sandra :-D.They are devils though for digging holes. You can see where they have things buried on the lawn by the little tale tale tufts of grass that they have patted back into place.I don't know that we have any buried treasure in our pots.I hope not (Chris will not be amused :-S)

I'm not stopping long now as I have too much to be getting on with so the laptop is going to be turned right off now ,so I won't be temped to keep coming back to it.

See you later........Hope Sandra's cold isn't any worse today Gill.
