Morning /Evening All
Mel was it not the normal oil company that came. They would have know surely to use a smaller tanker for your place.I hope you get your oil and don't run out before Xmas !!!

So OH must be in your bad books now giving you his cold.Naught boy :-S.At least there are still a few days to go before Xmas Day so hopefully you will have got rid of it by then.

Gill, Mel's garden is massive and lovely..I went there once a few years ago when I was down that way for a funeral. My Sister was with me so she came too.We had a good old natter and Mel gave us some of her fresh eggs. They were delicious with the most wonderful coloured yolks :-D
I have been out already. To the dry cleaners first thing to see if I could get the trousers I bought yesterday shortened before Xmas.I got in by the skin of my teeth as Hugo had stopped taking any more alterations .But he is such a lovely chap he squeezed me in .I will collect them on Monday :-D :-D.Then it was to Sainsb*** for some things like coleslaw/potato salad.olives etc.The use by dates are still hopeless so there are still more to get.But that can wait until Monday now.
So that is me in now for the rest of the day.I am having a big mug of coffee and then I will set to with some cleaning :-S.Well that is the plan :-)

Morning all Evening Kim.

Trust me to get it WRONG. It's Ros's RIGHT SIDE that took the brunt of the fall. Nice colours starting to show, and she feels stiff. So is just sitting resting. I will start packing the car later today, ready for the off about 10/11.00 am.

Gill, If the card was addressed to ME then Ros would have thought it was another birthday card and put it with the rest. But I will thank you in advance together with any of my "HAREM" who have sent.

I have been to drop a late card off this morning. The wind is enough to cut you in half, My eyes were watering from the wind blowing into my face. Apart from that the sun is shining and looks like being a nice day.

Have topped up the washer bottle and checked around the car, ready for the journey tomorrow.

We have been invited to a party New Years Eve, but I don't think we will be here.

I bet the shops will be heaving this morning, being the last weekend before Christmas. If you are out and about stay safe, and look after your bags, there are some unsavoury customers out there.

I meant to say, I watched NAT GEO yesterday afternoon. The URBAN JUNGLE. You wouldn't believe the things that live in the City's around the world. Here's something I didn't know. RATS have SEX 20 times a day, and in a year can have 15,000 off springs. !!! Boa constrictors can grow in the sewers to over 12 foot long and be as big as a telegraph pole round. They consume hundreds of RATS a year each. AND they showed you them coming out of toilets. SO WATCH WHERE YOU SIT. :-D :-D :-D Will that bit of info I will say GOOD MORNING. !!!

Fresh eggs Jane I bet they tasted lovely. Mel did say she had a large walled garden but I didn't understand the arch she was talking about, I do now :-D :-D.

I took a chance on some dips I bought the other day it had boxing day as the use by date but I'm going to buy some more next week if they have anymore with a longer date on them. Although the dips don't last long in the house, Sandra loves them ;-) ;-).

Hubby's off work today, Monday and Tuesday so we've decided to watch the whole new series of "DALLAS" he loves that program but hasn't been here to watch any of them with working, so we're going to watch them all in one go. I'm not sure if it's going to be any good now JR (Larry Hagman) isn't in it.

Larry Hagman passed away on November 23 2012 (my birthday) so Dallas hasn't been the same since :-( :-( :-(.

Hubby's nipped out to his mates so I'm going to do a bit of cleaning myself now before he gets back, then it's the DALLAS marathon lol :-D :-D

Afternoon all,

We had a little rain earlier then the sun appeared for a while now it's clouded up again, it's so cold out ,hubby has lit the wood burner .
We're off out tonight with sister and BIL for a meal,we booked a table at Cressingham Windmill ,we have been before and it's really nice there.
It was last year about this time that we had our meal out and poor BIL was in terrible pain with his knee .

I have been looking at the dates on the creams and other bits and pieces we need ,they all have dates either on christmas day or boxing day ,i think every ones hanging on for things with a longer date on them !!
I suppose i will have to wait and go and get them when the shops will be heaving , i might even walk up as the car parks are the trouble , they takes an age to get off with all the queues .

Frank i hope Ros's bruises are not to sore and that it doesn't spoil her Christmas , not sure if i will be on again today so have a safe journey .

Jane Report 20 Dec 2014 13:50

Well thanks for that lovely bit of info Frank.Every time I see a rat in the garden I will remind it ,that it should be off somewhere else having sex lol.Not loitering here.As for those snakes .we will all be checking the loos before we sit :-D :-D

Will you be able to have some breaks on the way down to Torquay tomorrow so Ros can get out and have a move around as she will no doubt be still stiff and sore?

I'm just waiting for the Hall floor to dry.Woe betide anyone who walks on it while it is still wet !!!!!.Then when Chris is in the garden having his bonfire I'll attack the kitchen floor.Oh a housewife's work is never ending :-S :-S

Gill I meant to ask the other day .Did I imagine it or have you mentioned that your house is for sale?it will be nice for your OH to have a few days off so you can all enjoy your Dallas Marathon together :-D.I used to love that programme. Was it Liver Cancer that Larry Hagman died from or Pancreatic.I think it was Liver. He was quite a character wasn't he :-D

Phew ! Kitchen floor done. You should see the colour of the water :-S :-S.But on the other hand you probably wouldn't want to lol.So now I am stuck in the lounge for a while. So this is a good opportunity to have a little sit down :-D :-D Any excuse ;-)
I don't know what has suddenly happened to the weather but within the last few minutes it had become so dark I have just had to put the lights on.It's also looking very breezy.I can't see any smoke from the bonfire yet.I don't think it is a big one so I might not see the smoke from here.

Frank has that pain in your chest gone now?Maybe a meal that is not too heavy would be a good idea tonight.Ros won't want you burping all the way to Devon :-D

I think I have blethered on enough now so will go and check the hall floor.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Dec 2014 15:14

It was throat cancer Larry Hagman died of, Jane. :-(.

Yes our bungalow is on the market, it's been on for a while now, think we might have to reduce it after Christmas and have some more photo's done as the ones the agent has are outdates, we've changed all the rooms and got different furniture now.

Sounds like you've been as busy as me, I decided to do a small amount of cleaning but ended up doing the whole place, then I forgot I'd recorded Eastenders and Home and Away yesterday so have just finished watching them with Sandra and now I'm off to start watching Dallas with OH. I don't know where the days gone, I hope we manage to get all the episodes of Dallas watched before Christmas as I need the space to record other things :-D.

Going to make a cuppa, then settling down for a few hours before dinner

Back later

Fiona Report 20 Dec 2014 16:15

Afternoon All.

Been a chilly day, but the sun has managed to show at times,
another quiet day here,
OH is working today & tomorrow so he did the weekly shopping plus some Christmas food last night after he finished work, it's really very handy you know this walking out one door, changing out of work clothes and then coming back in through main doors to do the shopping, at least he know's where everything is :-D :-D
Now we only have to get the Christmas meat's, like turkey , sausages , ham and all the other fresh food for Christmas day,

It will be really quiet this New Year, as Victoria is working New years day , My OH is working and Katherine & Jake are going up to Inverness to spend New Years eve with Jakes family, also 1st Jan which is Jake's birthday and they will be home on the 2nd cos Katherine goes back to work on the 3rd.

OH will be working quite a lot over the holidays, his days off are 23rd, 25th, 27th & 30th,December.so he plans to bring his mum up on the 27th & take her back on the 30th, just a flying visit for her, but she will get to spend some time with the girls and their families and thats what matter's the most.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Dec 2014 16:53

Fiona ,it sounds a busy time for everyone !!...How nice though that OH can do the big shop :-D.I bet he can whizz round really quickly knowing where things are.
It's nice that your MIL will be able to get to see you all for a few days. Will she be on her own for Christmas?
I think of the days when Chris was often on call over the Xmas and new Year.it was horrible.Especially when the children were little. He might suddenly have to go out on a call in the middle of Christmas Dinner or late on a Xmas eve when we were getting the Christmas pillow cases ready full of goodies to put in the children bedrooms. He was often good for nothing on Xmas day if he had been on call Xmas Eve.New Years eve too he was often on call at the on call centre .Now since he retired we can all enjoy Xmas with no interuptions :-D

When will Katherine know if she has Celiac Disease?.I hope she doesn't but it is much easier these days with shops selling 'Free From' and restaurants being proactive for customers dietary needs.

It feels like mid evening here .Not even 5pm !!!

Hannah has just sent me a couple of pics and a video clip of her afternoon Xmas do with some of her friends.....It looks crazy ,but such good fun.I don't know where she is but it looks like some bar/club in central London. :-D.Wish I was there :-D :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Dec 2014 17:11

All I have done today is 6 presents for anuty Joy and fed the birds and chickens and hedgehogs and paid out a lot of money to the builder, stuck up two decorations and started making a moss ball. I made lunch with sort of homemade soup and have just come in from shutting everything away.

No cleaning done for me today. My friend is coming tomorrow to collect her presents as I had'nt done them up when she called in last time. I just have to finish off a few more presents and do a bit more decorating and thats it.

The shop has sold all my rings so thats good. They hav'nt been asked for anymore so I might just make one and that will make 10 made this year and if it dos'nt sell I shall have it for myself. I have made a posy for mum's grave.

It would have been my grandads birthday today he would have been 117.

Oh has'nt coughed so much today but still sounds very thick when he talks.

Fiona

Fiona Report 20 Dec 2014 17:23

Hi Jane.
Yes working in A*da certainly has it's good points, especially if I see something I like in George ;-) ;-)
MIL will spend Christmas with OH brother and family, mind you it might only be with Lesley , my sister-in-law, as Paul will be working Christmas day, he is a prison officer, and Holly my niece who will be 24 on Christmas day, will probably spend some time with her fiance,
it used to be hard for Holly being born on Christmas Day, when most children would have a birthday party on their birthday, Holly sometimes used to have her birthday celebrations during the summer and get a bike or some other big present so she could play outside, and enjoy time with her friends, everyone is to busy enjoying Christmas Parties . it sorts of takes the birthday excitement away.

Jane ,Katherine phoned me last night to say the doctor confirmed she needed to take Vitamin D tablets, but said it could take up to three weeks before the blood test results come in, especially because of the Christmas Holidays, so we won't know if she has Celiac Disease or not, but Katherine has decided to cut down on bread, pasta and other foods containing wheat, to see if she finds a difference in the way she feels, might find she has more energy & not as tired.

Gillx Report 20 Dec 2014 17:55

I know how you feel Fiona, my OH is working all over Christmas and new year, apart from boxing day and our youngest daughter moved to Leeds in September so she won't be here either.

My mum's coming round on Christmas day so it'll just be mum, Sandra and myself. We're having a small turkey crown then on Boxing day I'm cooking the turkey so OH can have his Christmas dinner. Two Christmas dinners I'm not going to be able to move by the end of it :-D :-D :-D.

I bet your glad all your rings sold Mel, good idea to make one more just in case and if it doesn't sell you'll have one for yourself.

Watched a couple of Dallas but had lots of washing to do, so had to keep popping out in the adverts to put another load on. Just off to start dinner, then watch Strictly then back to Dallas ;-) ;-).

Jane

Jane Report 20 Dec 2014 18:38

Mel that is great all the rings have sold :-DI was a bit worried yesterday when you said 5 were still there.
Gill I remember the last time my Mum was with us for Christmas. It is rather sad but it made us all laugh (including Mum). She had Dementia and we were sat just starting Christmas Dinner and pulling the crackers when she suddenly asked what festivity we were celebrating.I said "Mum ,what is that tree with all the decorations on?"She then said "oh it's Christmas"..We all just fell about in stitches. But thinking back now it makes me want to cry.But it was a good day even though Mum wouldn't have remembered a thing about it.

Fiona ,it is a good idea for Katherine to cut certain things out .Maybe one at a time just to see if one particular food type might be the cause.I find there are certain things that upset me or just make me feel 'not right' .I never used to have this bother :-S
Talking of food.Steak and Chips for us tonight with oven roasted tomatoes and mushrooms.I can't be bothered to do any more veg :-D

Gillx Report 20 Dec 2014 19:30

I'm sorry to hear about your mum Jane, Dementia is a horrible illness. My granddad had it and it broke my heart to watch him slowly drift further and further away from us all.

OH got a lovely Christmas card off one of the residents husband. His wife has locked in syndrome and he wrote on the card

"Thank you for your wonderful care delivered daily, it is much appreciated. Your quiet manner is very reassuring. I'm sure my wife is well aware of you quietly nursing"

What a lovely thing to say and he put his wife's name on the card as well as his own. I must admit it brought a tear to my eye when I read it last night.

It's such a shame the carers aren't allowed to give the residents cards personally themselves. I know OH would of loved to have been able to give a card back.

OH's boss has given all the residents a Christmas card each, from all the staff. Not sure why they have that rule but at least they get a card, which is nice.

The boss has also bought all the residents an outfit and a personal present each. It would be so easy for the boss to buy a job lot of gift sets, but she goes out of her way to chose individual gifts suitable for each and everyone of them <3.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Dec 2014 21:17

Gill maybe OH could give a card to the husband of the lady if he his not allowed to give one to her.I don't understand that ruling :-S
But what lovely words from her husband to yours :-D.it just shows how much he is appreciated.
Yes Dementia is an awful thing.I had many years of travelling back and forth from Plymouth when Mum had it.It was a terrible strain and it affected all of us.I was difficult to live with and it caused many an argument between me and Chris.I could write a book !

I think I shall be off to bed very soon.I woke last night so many times and spent about an hour reading my Kindle from 3am.Chris said I snored a lot so kept having to give me a dig.It seems to be happening a lot lately and I really do wonder if it is to do with this new pillow.I am sleeping a lot flatter.I hope tonight is better :-)

Frank if I miss you tonight have a wonderful Christmas down in Torquay and also a Very Happy Birthday <3 <3..Just make sure you behave yourself ;-) S We don't want to hear any bad reports :-D

Have a safe journey Frank and let us know when you get there or should I say down here. Also have a wonderfull birthday and don't drink too much.

Hope ros feels a little easier tomorrow and is she driving all the way down here??

Your oh must be very proud Gill, and you must be very proud of him too.

We had pork chops, mushrooms, peas, toms amd bubble and squeak for dinner and now I am full up to the brim.

Gillx Report 20 Dec 2014 22:24

Just mentioned to OH about giving the card to the lady's husband and he's going to check with his boss if that's alright. He's only been in this job for six months so doesn't know all the rules regarding what he can and can't do, so thought it best to check first. He doesn't think it will be a problem though.

Let's hope you have a better nights sleep tonight Jane.

Yes Mel OH doesn't say much, like the card said he's a quiet man but I think he is quite chuffed and proud.

Hope you have a lovely birthday Frank and that Ros is ok to drive. Have a great Christmas, don't get to drunk :-D :-D :-D.

Off to watch the end of another Dallas now
Night all <3

Frank Report 20 Dec 2014 22:38

Well here I am, the last message from home, I don't think I will have time in the morning. But who knows.

Ros wouldn't let me pack the car today. She was worried that someone might see everything in it, and pinch the car. I said it is ALARMED. but oh no, I will do it in the morning.

Thanks for your good wishes. I will speak with you all on Monday I hope.

Yes Mel, Ros will drive all the way, as I'm not allowed behind the wheel anymore. We will have a couple of stops on the way so she can stretch her legs, and have a break.

I think I told you C & J have a table booked for my birthday on the sea front at Torquay. NOT ACTUALLY ON THE SEA FRONT> :-D :-D :-D It might be a bit cold ;-) ;-) ;-)

Ros is watching "The life of Princess Dianna" on a SK# channel , so I will slant of to bed for a read.

I will try to pop in in the morning.

Good night all.
