Frank Report 10 Oct 2018 12:29

Good morning Mel,Gill and all,

I am pleased you enjoyed the video I sent yesterday, lovely wasn't it.

We have wall to wall sunshine also today, I think it changes again at the weekend.

No luck with Simon knowing where she is. He and her and his Mother fell out over something and have nothing to do with them now. FAMILY You wonder why we have them :-S :-S :-S

I have bought loads of those heat pads, they don't seem to give her any relief from the constant pain.

I watched that police with Camera's last night. Some of the sentences handed down by the courts, are beyond belief. No wonder there is so much crime around. :-0 :-0 :-0

Yesterday I put a bit on FB wishing him a Happy Birthday, and if anyone knows him, to pass it on. I can only do so much, as I have no idea if the grand children are married, or where they might be living.

Ros has struggled to get showered this morning and washing her hair. I can hear the Dryer going in the bedroom, so the rollers must be in.

She's got an ordeal tomorrow, She has to be at Kettering Hospital by 1.00 pm then after an half hour with the doctor. goes in for the MRI and is expected to be in there for 45 minutes. I can see that doing her back no good at all, lying on a flat board for all that time. She will be in agony.

I have prepared a chicken for tonight, all stuffed and in the dish. Roast Parsnips and potato's, Brussels, Runners, cabbage, carrots and peas, I know before I even cook it, Ros won't be eating too much, she's right off her food lately.

We are still mulling over whether to have an induction hob. Harvey has a contact who works for one of the manufactures and can save a LOT on the retail price.

See you later xxx

Frank Report 10 Oct 2018 15:41

Still a lovely day. Ros has been tying poppies to HOME CLOSE signs. They were not tied on very good. She is now knitting more poppies.

Our old Village policeman died on Sunday morning. He asked to be sent home from hospital three weeks ago, and stopped taking any medication. He just wanted to come home to die. I think he was in his mid to late seventies. Not sure when the funeral is yet.

We had a SMART METER fitted today for the Electric, the gas can't be done, due to the gas meter location. in a cupboard under the unit. I will be interesting to see how much electric we use.

Ros can't have anything to drink, other than water, until after the MRI tomorrow afternoon. Carolyn is picking her up at 12.30 tomorrow. I see no reason for me to go and sit around like a Spare wots it. So I will stay at home.

Jane Report 10 Oct 2018 17:14

Afternoon Everyone
Crumbs it is hot. We only put the fans away the other day too. I think there is still one upstairs so I might have to go and get thsat down here. I have been slaving away in the kitchen making a double lot of the chicken pie mixture ready to take ot Janice on Friday. I thought I would do extra so there will be plenty for them to have the next day rather than poor Larry having to be chef again :-D.
Janice is seeing her Surgeon tomorrow so wil find out when she will be back in to have her knee Manipulation under Anaesthetic

FRank,it is going to be so difficult for poor Ros tomorrow to lie flat for so long in MRI scanner. I hope that she can last long enough for it to be completed. She will have to dose herself up with as much painkiller as possible. I shall be thinking of her. I have been in that same scanner a few times :-D. Fingers crossed her new Poppies stay fixed on your road sign.

So finally a Hog is around and has been seen now Mel :-D. That is good news.
Beard Jewellry I have heard of and seen . It seems to be the older man I have spotted with this in beards(not that I am suggesting OH is old :-D :-D ). Would he actually wear it?

That was a lovely pic of the Conkers Ann. Such lovely Autumn colours. Shame you didnt manage to get the pics of the Squirrels. I expect you will get plenty more chances .
I have one option jacket wise Ann. I have just less than a week to decide on whether to keep it . I bought it in House of Fraser. I love the front but the back (because it is like a fine knit ) shows the bumps from the beads on the dress and it looks lumpy :-S. There is nothing I can do about that though. Chris likes it and Janice too.
A liitle fascinator arrived today. It a really cheap thing but I wanted to see what I looked like with a flower on my bonce :-D, not ever having worn one before. I think I could get away with one so might look for a nicer one that doesn't look £2.45 :-D. It is on a comb not a hairband.

I had my Phyiso this morning and boy I can feel it now :-S. I havent made any further appointment and Steph showed me an easier way of doing this exercise I have been having trouble with. I will find it much easier now so will be able to stick with it.

The fan is on :-D. Its bliss :-D

Evening all,

It's been really hot here today in the lovely sun shine ,we've been sitting out again making the most of it .

Ann the ear rings are a pretty colour and look nice and neat , all those Conkers on the ground !!! i don't think the children play conkers much now i know a lot of the schools banned them , we were looking at all the Acorns on the ground when we walked Max ,we haven't seen our little Squirrel lately he would have had a field day with all the Acorns laying about ,you have to watch were your putting your feet as they roll as you walk over them .

Frank i hope Ros gets on ok tomorrow with her MRI ,Colin went in a couple of times and was really sick after ,i think it was the noise that gave him a bad head and he's always sick when he has a bad head

Jane i wondered if you might try a fascinator as you don't suit hats ,that's a good idea to just try a cheap one to see what they look like on you.
Your poor sister i hope she doesn't have to wait to long before she can have her knee Manipulation ,didn't she go on a machine to help her move her knee last
time ?
Love the photo of the little dog in the shopping trolley

Never heard of Beard Jewellery Mel i will have a google .

Jane

Jane Report 10 Oct 2018 19:25

Mandy Janice had the machine to move her knee the after the manipulation on her first knee replacement . She was able to use it at home at a cost of about £100 per week!! This was through private health. ,but she will have the machine on her knee while she is in hospital. To be honest I can see this new knee being as bad as the last one. She did say that the machine really didnt help that much but it was agony using it.

Chris says the fascinator looks like a pimple on a pound of pork !!!! I think he was just kidding really. I will get true answers from Janice and Hannah. I am just one who doesn't do headwear. I just feel like a plonker :-S :-D

Deboned Honey and Mustard Chicken here tonight with a tray of cubed potatoes and a load of peppers, courgettes cherry tomatoes and red onions . A bag of microwave veg to go with.
Didn't that little dog look funny in his shopping trolley. I am thinking he might have had an elderly owner.

I am hoping Thomas will be in soon flea free :-D. I don't think I will be having a late night .

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Oct 2018 19:48

Jane they were'nt conkers they were chestnuts.

Just cooking lamb chops new pots carrots and brussels.

The feeding ring is all set up with plenty of food in it. Oh has fixed another camera up next to the original one so I have a better light down there as I don't really think they liked the new light oh put up as it is so bright and in a different place to the halogen one we had before.

We will see.

The chops are spitting so I better look at them.

Annx Report 10 Oct 2018 20:08

Evening All,

Didn't it turn hot today! Phew, the car showed 26 degrees this afternoon. Jane I bet a dressmaker could line the back of the jacket for you and it shouldn't show lumps then. Mind you I expect there would be a risk that it still might!! :-0 I have my plum colour fascinator I made somewhere in the loft, but it is on a headband and not very comfy so I would stick to one on a comb if I were you. It is very thoughtful of you to take some food with 'extra' to save Larry a job. They will appreciate that very much.
I bet poor Janice will have a painful knee after the manipulation.

Beard jewellery Mel? I hadn't heard of that so looked it up. It's certainly a different look isn't it? OH has been known to prance around the kitchen at Christmas with a colander on his head pretending to be a Viking, but he doesn't like any male jewellery apart from a watch and occasional cufflinks. I quite like it but you would need a longish beard for it. OH gets impatient having his hair cut and I just tell him I'll end up cutting his ears or his lip if I'm doing his beard and that sometimes makes him keep still and quiet!!. That's good you have seen a hog at last so there may be others around hopefully.

That will be quite an ordeal for Ros in the scanner all that time Frank. OH said lying on the 'plank' made his back hurt when he last went. I hope they make her as comfortable as they can. It's a shame the heat pads don't help, but these things don't work for everyone. I hope they leave the latest poppies alone.

I locked myself in the back garden once Gill and I always worry OH will walk back inside through the back door and just lock it without thinking! Good job Sandra had her ears pricked!

We are off to the cinema tomorrow to see Johhny English (Rowan Atkinson). Not sure what it will be like as it has poor write ups, but we both like Rowan Atkinson.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 10 Oct 2018 22:18

I missed the bit in your post about Janice Jane. Oh came in while I was reading it and asked me for something.

I hope she gets on ok and is'nt in too much pain. I shall be thinking of her and poor Ros on the plank!! Al these treatments for everyone, Jane with her physio and Frank waiting too. I hope the poppies are left alone this time too. There is so much work that has gone into them.

Oh and I have our flu jabs tomorrow. I also have the library but shan'nt be able to make it in the time they come to the village hall as I shall be at the solicitors about the chap that has the lease on the house in Ilford. He is now buying the bottom flat but I still own the freehold. I have a questionair to fill out and my solicitor said he can do that for me. I shall have to go to the library in the afternoon in the village and then the flu jabs is at 4. 10pm and 4.12 pm. I think we shall probably have fish and chips from the van tomorrow night.

We stood and watched the baby fish this morning. They are so hard to see when the suns not out but its been on the pond today and yesterday in the mornings so we had a nice long look. I saw the usual 4 but oh said he reckons I have at least 10.

Going back to this lunch in the village hall it is to mark the centenry of the war as its 100 years this year.

Just a quickie as I'm off to bed, I'm out all day tomorrow so might not be on here.

I've finally finished the concreting. Mum called around this morning so I didn't start it until late. Thankfully the weather was nice and not to windy. It took me a few hours because people were saying hello and chatting with me as they passed by. I'm glad we managed to tidy the front garden over the last couple of days after seeing the weather, it's going to be pretty bad from tomorrow onwards for a while.

I haven't caught up with the posts yet, so hope everyone is okay.

Morning all,

Its a horrible day here this morning, raining and a bit windy and very dull. Its funny how two days can be completely different.

Solicitors at 11.30am and then home for a quick lunch then the flu jabs this afternoon.

O I clicked the submit by mistake.

Jane that little dog in its pram is just lovely. It has a dear little face.

I have just had a contact from Ancestry and it has on there my 2 x gt grandfathers Railway records of his pay. He joined them at 16 years old. He was killed on the line by being hit by a train.

Fancy Ann not picking up some of those lovely Chestnuts from under the tree in the photo she sent us. Even if they were conkers I would have had to pick a few up just for the habit. They are so lovely when they fist fall and so shiney. I remember my first hubby had a pair of shoes that were exactly conker colour so I called them his conker shoes.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Oct 2018 10:34

Good morning Mel and all,

We have a lovely morning here Mel, almost wall to wall sunshine and feeling warm.

Conkers was played in all the schools when I was young. We all had our favourite trees where we would collect them. A meat skewer was used to make the hole and a leather bootlace, for the string. We also carried round our neck a string of conkers ready for when yours got smashed. Each time you beat someone you added a number to your conker i,e 32 er.

Jane I would have thought Chris would have referred to your fascinator as "A pimple on an Elephants A@@e" lol lol That's what I would have said. That little Dog looked so content sitting in his trolley. Bless him. Holly our little poodle use to sit in a cloth bag over one of our shoulders. She hated walking.

One of Ros's favourites is CHESTNUTS and WET WALNUTS. Carolyn bought some wet walnuts round the other day from a box that was in the Church porch.

We have a bag of conkers, to prick and put around the Bungalow, they are suppose to help get rid of spiders, that come in for the winter months.

I have been very naughty. I have been picking at the dead skin around my finger and thumb, to the point that I make them bleed. I am fed up with putting plasters on, as they fall off as soon as you put your hands in water. So I put a small bandage round the finger and thumb, and covered them in a finger and thumb from a rubber glove. CLEVER OR WHAT. lol lol

Jane

Jane Report 11 Oct 2018 12:30

Very quick one from me now as Fitz will be here any minute and I need to get Pizza and Sausage Rolls in the oven. All the resr is done and outside on the patio table. It is so warm and too warm to eat inside but it is a bit on the breezy side so I hope nothing gets blown away.

Wet Walnuts :-P I can't stand them ,but love the 'normal ' ones. Frank I said it wrong what Chris said about the fascinator. It was like a pimple on a pound of PICKLED Pork .How rude :-S. He could be right though :-D.

Sorry your weather is rubbish today Mel . Bet you wish you were here :-D

I hope Ros gets on ok and is not in too much pain when she is stuck in the MRI Scanner . She will probably feel it once she gets up though.

Stop picking those fingers you naughty boy :-| :-|. I know it is very satisfying but you are going to be so sore.
My Sister will be seeing her surgeon now so I am expecting a call from her later to let me know what he had to say.

Must go now BBL

Frank

Frank Report 11 Oct 2018 12:52

Ros has just left. I told her to ask for a pain killing injection, before she has to lie in that machine for 45 minutes. Otherwise if she wriggles about in the machine, they won't be able to get a good reading.

I hope everything has gone well for Janice xxx. I think it might be a bit dodgy eating outside Jane, this wind is quite strong. I would hate to hear that everything went FLYING.

This finger picking has got worst since Ros was taken ill. I sit and worry like a silly BU@@er that I am.

I have taken all the chicken off the bones, chopped an onion and mixed it with a gravy. All boiled down, ready for the chicken, and curry powder to be added later. Must be careful with the curry powder as Ros. doesn't like it to strong.

Hows your weather now Mel, ?? we still have the sunshine, and I am sitting here bare chested once again.

I have a nice quiet afternoon, to do as I please which is a nice change. Tele is off, so I will have a read and perhaps look at the back of my eyelids ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Oct 2018 14:40

Back from the solicitors and we.ve had lunch. I picked up the scripts in Holsworthy and they have given me all different makes again. I don't know where I am with them when I put them in the boxes for the week. All I do know is that oh should have 7 in his box and 5 in mine. I have the right ones in the statin but he has a different make so that will be confusing. I did'nt get the 7 extra of one sort I asked for to bring them up to run with the others. They said I now have 28 which should last and to order that ONE before the others run out. Also most of the pills are in plain boxes, another way to confuse you.

I missed the library so I am going into the village now.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Oct 2018 15:39

Its me again!

Just after my last post it stopped raining and otu came the sun and its been out ever since.

Just back from the library. Meant to say in my last post that whenI parked the car in Holsworthy I walked past the museum to get my parking ticket and in their window were one mass of knitted poppies attached to a fishing net. They looked wonderful.

When will you know how Ros got on Frank please?

Jane when will you know how Janice got on please?

Annx

Annx Report 11 Oct 2018 16:15

Afternoon All,

A busy day for you then Mel! Do any of your baby fish survive to become coloured or do they all get eaten? We have had more letters from our solicitor this morning and there will be another trip there to sign things. I expect selling the flat will mean less paperwork for you which is good and a good idea to keep the freehold. :-) We had our flu jabs last month and for once OH said he never felt a thing! I did slip a conker in my pocket.....they are so inviting to touch, all shiny and a lovely rich brown.

The first and only time I have had wet walnuts was at Fitz's quite a few years ago now. I was surprised to actually quite like them. I love little acorns in their cups Mandy, but can imagine they would be like ball bearings on a footpath! :-0

Cheeky Chris Jane! My mum would have called it a tom tit on a round of beef!! lol. It's quite windy here now so I hope you all managed to hang onto your lunch outside.

Hopefully Ros and Janice have had their hospital appointments now and are back at home again.

We saw the Johnny English film this morning and quite liked it. Oh the awful noise when the advertising was on was worse than ever and I soon reached for my earplugs!! (thanks to Mel!) The cinema was almost empty and we got seats on the first row of the slopey bit so I didn't have to go up the steps and could keep my legs straighter which helps a lot. Blow me, as soon as the lights went down what I can only describe as a long trail of unfortunate souls were led in by their carers. Where did they choose to sit in the near empty cinema? Yes, on our row next to us! I must say though that they were as good as gold all through the film. In the past we have had some shout all through a film. They can't help it I know, but it does rather break the spell of a good film. We did a bit of shopping in Sainsbury's nearby after and OH got his Christmas Cheese Footballs and Cheeselets etc. We also called in the cafe and I had salmon, new potatoes and salad and OH had cod instead with his.

Tonight I am going to a talk at the hospital lecture theatre. This one is about those specialist beds that keep you alive in intensive care called ECMO beds. It is a machine that takes the place of your heart and lungs and I think the Glenfield Hospital in the city is one of only a handful of hospitals in the UK that has them. The worst job will be crossing the city in the rush hour to get there.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Oct 2018 16:19

Not sure what time she will be back Mel, but will let you have any news as soon as I can.

I just saw on FB an offer for a 1st day cover for the new Harry Potter Stamp. Would you believe they were trying to charge over £4.50 Postage. Th cover was £5.99 as well, RIP OFF. NO THANKS.

Turning cloudy now, so I expect we might get some of the wet stuff later this evening.

Ros is hoping to go to Choir Practice tonight, will have to see how sh feels when she gets home.

Just had a COT and cake, bit late really, as we have our meal around 6.00 pm.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Oct 2018 17:41

She's home !!! All went well. The MRI machine had a much wider bed in it, and with pillows under her knees, she was quite comfortable. The ECG machine was running th whole time she was in there. She asked the Dr/nurse if everything was alright, and she held up about half inch thick of print outs. She said the Doctors will look through these and will report back to the GP. So we will wait and see.

She feels well enough to go to the Choir tonight, so I have had a day and evening by myself.
