That's great they were able to keep her comfortable on the scanner Frank and that she is able to go to the choir and enjoy herself tonight. I bet she was quite worried about what state she'd be in after laying down all that time.

I only just got there in time to hear the lecture with all the traffic about. these machines that keep you alive are marvellous. Most of the cases that they use them for are those with swine flu or pneumonia. We were passing one of the £2000 canulas around that they use to have a close look at it and a silly woman 2 rows in front didn't see me and a chap behind her and passed it to the middle of his row missing us out. Someone further along saw what had happened and passed it back to me after it reached the end of the row. As soon as I went to pass it to the chap in front of me before going back in sequence and passing it behind me I got 2 West Indian women behind me poking me hard in the shoulder jabbering that it should go behind them. They didn't look pleased at my explanation, but fair play to them, when I got up to go, the loudest one said 'I am so sorry darling' so I gave her a big smile. :-)

Beading tomorrow so I better get my bag packed. ;-)

O Frank that is good news Ros was quite comfy during the MRI scan. They must know how much pain she can be in. I wonder if it will show anything up about her bladder? and why she keeps getting these dreadfull infections.

Now I need to hear how Janice got on today.

My flu jab is hurting a bit tonigt. She made me jump when she stuck the needle in me. She was'nt a usual nurse and it was like being in a cattle market in the empty village hall with no privacy at all and the people waiting for there jabs could hear everything you said. When we walked in there was a table in the middle of the hall with two people at it who took your names and told you to sit down. There were about 10 chairs along the wall and the two nurses doing the jabs were in the middle of the hall right in front of the stage. When oh had his he asked about we would get a surgery back and the nurse told him they were still looking for suitable premisies (sp) in Shebbear so hopefully we may get our surgery back. I do hope so because I don't want to have to go 9 miles to Holsworthy whenever Ihave to go to the docs. I never had the results of my blood test from months ago.

Really tired tonight. Got the solicitors done and then did lunch and then the Library up in Shebbear and then the flu jabs back to Shebbear and then back up there again this evening for the fish and chips. Totally whacked so see you all in the morning.

Its turned quite cold her ethis evening.

O and yes to Ann's question about my fishlings (fry) yes I have all the ones from last year which are now about 4 and a half inches long and three of the black ones turned coloured this year there are a few others that are still black. This year we have one orange and white one about 2" long and at least 6 tiny ones about an inch long two are very light already and the rest are black and you can only see them when the sun shines on the water and they come out from under the lily leaves. I bought some fish flake as I thought it would be easier for the little ones to eat.

Morning All

I am up early this morning as I need ot get in the shower and wash my hair before we leave about 10. Janice had her appointment yesterday and will be back in for the manipulation on the 29th. She had hoped it could have been sooner but at least is it not too long.

That was so good Ros was comfortable in the scanner yesterday Frank. That sounds a different one I was in as mine had quite a narrow bed. Hopefullyb she will get some results soon.

That sounded an interesting meeting Ann. I can't stand it being poked in the back. That was so rude of those ladies. At least you had an apology .

You have lots of healthy fish Mel. How big will they grow? You probably haven't heard about your blood results as they must have been normal.
Dark and breezy morning here. I think we will be right on the edge of the really bad weather at Janices.
I may not be back again today . Have a good day :-D

Morning Jane morning all

Dull and damp here today but not as bad as I thought it was going to be so we're taking Sandra out to a Craft Fair.

I don't think I'd like to have been poked either Ann, at least they said sorry so that's something. It sounded very interesting while you were there. Have a nice time at your beading class, what are you making today?

Love the picture of the dog in the basket Jane. Sandra thought it was very funny. Hope all goes well for Janice.

Pleased to see Ros's MRI scan went well and it wasn't to uncomfortable for her Frank.

OH's just come in so I'd better go as Sandra is eager to get off to this Craft Fair.

Morning Jane and Gill and all,

I slept like a log after yesterdasy running around hither and thither. I slept the moment my head touched the pillow and was up just once for the loo and fell asleep again right away so I had 9 hour 20 mins in all.

The weather here is terrible this morning with very high winds and lashing rain and its blowing evrything about on the patio and in the garden.

I have nothing planned for today just dinner which I think will be spag bol nice and easy. Its a bit dark for sewing but I may fix my daylight lamp up and do some of that.

Hope Frank had a better nights sleep last night knowing Ros was over her scan and went off to chior practice so she must have felt ok.

Frank

Frank Report 12 Oct 2018 11:12

Morning all you early birds,

Horrible morning here wind and driving rain. A day for staying in doors. !!!

Another bad night, went in when Ros put her soaps on at 10.30 pm I was back out by 1.00 am until 3.30 reading my book, and having a COT. I thought I might sleep in this morning, but oh no 7.00 am wide awake, and got up. Ros went into a DEEP SLEEP and came out at 10.00. Lucky her.

She said, that everyone in the choir, came to speak to her, and see that she was O.K.

It would be good if you get a village surgery Mel, all this too and throwing must drive you mad. I never get to know about blood tests unless I ring up for the results. I think that's common practice.

Ros is glued to the T.V. watching the Wedding. I can't be bothered. Be better if it was a football match ;-) ;-) ;-)

I saw the nurse at Tony's this morning, so Val can't be as good as he says she is. I know Ros won't bother to ask. :-P :-P :-P No doubt we will hear via the other Valerie .

It's Ella's 11 th birthday today. Conrad is flying back from Spain for her party. He will fly back Sunday morning, and I think Jan will fly back with him.

I see that "VALERIE's PATISSERIES" are going into Liquidation. That will put Lewis out of his weekend/Holiday Job. He has been doing it a long time now, and will miss the money.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Oct 2018 11:36

O dear Frank but I am sure Lewis will find another job pretty soon as he seems to be a boy that can't sit around doing nothing and he will need more money too. Will he get a reference from Valeries?

Gillx

Gillx Report 12 Oct 2018 13:57

Sorry to hear you had another bad night's sleep Frank. Maybe you could have a few zzz's this afternoon. Sorry also to hear about Lewis, but like Mel said he'll find another job soon enough.

Well, we didn't make it to the Craft Fair in the end as the car broke down. I was in a right state as OH didn't have a phone on him to let me know what had happened. He only nipped out for a bottle of juice for Sandra and after an hour and a half both Sandra and I were in tears wondering where he was, I rang my mum to ask her if she could take to the shop. I would of walked but it would take me around an hour to get there with it being in the next village. Just before mum turned up my phone rang and it was the breakdown service, so at least I knew what had happened. They couldn't get in touch with OH via the shop, as that is where he had to ring them from which is why they rang me. Talk about relief, although it left me with a headache and I couldn't stop shaking for a while. At least OH brought the juice home lol. The breakdown people took him and the car to the garage, it looks like it might be something to do with the battery, if that's the case then we won't have to pay for it as the same garage put in a new battery less than a year ago. OH will ring the garage later to find out what's going on, but because we don't have the car now we couldn't take Sandra out. I'll have to check but I think the Craft Fair is going to be on again soon, so hopefully we'll take her then. Good job he had to go to the shop otherwise we'd of broken down at the garden centre.

I missed the Royal wedding, I didn't know it was going to be on TV, but there are highlights on after so I'm going to record it. Mum saw the end when she arrived here as she was watching it at hers when I rang her. I didn't watch the end so will watch it off the recording when I'm on my own as OH and Sandra don't like things like that.

Going to catch up with some of our recordings this afternoon. I noticed I still have the last Vanity Fair to watch and then OH wants to watch the Apprentice and Sandra and I want to watch the soaps, The weather has gone cold with lots of showers, one of my big pots fell over so that's been secured now. So I guess we were meant to stay in today. Good job we didn't go out as the fella came to read the gas and electric meters, so hopefully we won't get another estimated bill.

Well, I'd better go and start watching some of these programmes..

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 Oct 2018 14:31

What a shame it happened today Gill. At least you know he is safe now but poor Sandra will miss the craft fair.

Its still blowing like mad out there and raining on and off. There have been floods in some parts of Devon and we have this for tomorrow too!

I am just going to wash up and then I am going to do some craft.

What craft does Sandra like to do apart from her stickers?

Gillx

Gillx Report 12 Oct 2018 17:12

OH's got his mate coming around in the morning to check the heating, the control has been playing up.

We've got the car back, it was the battery and the terminal so we only had to pay for the auto repair man to check the car over and fix the terminal. Now we have the car we can take Sandra to the Craft Fair tomorrow once the heating engineer has gone. The Craft Fair is on for three days so Sandra didn't miss out in the end. We also have another 12 month guarantee on the new battery so that's good, because it was less than a year old we didn't have to pay for that, just the terminal. Let's hope everything is okay now and we don't need another battery any time soon.

She makes cards Mel.

Hope you don't experience any floods. Where about are the floods in Devon, are they near you?

Evening All,

Well after a nice start, we had heavy rain and now really gusty gales! I don't like the way our pine tree is swaying at the top! I couldn't see anything in our deeds when we got them the other week about us not removing any trees so I think it must have been a clause that the builder wasn't to remove them and doesn't apply to us house buyers. I don't want to lose it as it stops people driving over the edge of our garden and lots of birds use it, but I don't want to risk it falling on our neighbour's cars as it must be 30 feet high now!! Even OH was thinking it didn't look so safe in the wind tonight.

Mel, your last year's fish babies have done well to reach that size. Hopefully the new babies will do just as well. It would be great if you got your village surgery back. OH had to ring for his blood test results today as our surgery only rings you if there is something wrong. We always end up ringing as you never know if your results have come back otherwise.

Gill, what a day you have had, worrying about your OH and then no Craft Fair for Sandra. At least the car didn't have anything very expensive need doing and now Sandra will be happy she can go to the fair tomorrow.

It does sound as if Val isn't well if a nurse is visiting her Frank. It's good she is getting some care at last. With Lewis having some work experience now, hopefully he should soon get himself another little job, especially with Christmas coming up. I read the other day that a used peppermint teabag keeps spiders away.

Three of us are off to the workshop to make beaded stars tomorrow so I am being picked up at 8.45am! We have to take a packed lunch as it is all day, but I don't think I shall be wanting much of mine , as there will be the usual help yourself to sausage rolls, cake, biscuits, crisps and sweets all day. I will have to get up a few times to sample some as it will help my knees to keep straightening them! lol. I think OH is off with a pal to a match in Worcestershire.

Evening All

Well we are back from Tewkesbury and had a lovely few hours with Janice and Larry. My Chicken pie went down a treat and there is enough left over for them to have another meal tomorrow. So that will save Larry 2 nights of cooking :-D. The weather on the way down was diabolical .THE RAIN !!!!! so much standing water on the motorway and some right idiots with atrocious driving and no lights on :-S. The way home was dry but it was rush hour so really really busy and it took us an extra 40 mins.
The wind here is really strong and one of the big Olive tree pots had gone over .That weighs a ton so it must have been a great gust .

Janice is looking ok but just struggles to get around on her 2 sticks. He knee just wont bend at all :-S.She managed to sit up to the table to eat with her leg stuck out straight but had to sit back in her chair soon with her leg up on the pouffee with the ice pack on.Little Gilly loves to snuggle in beside her :-D. There are only 2 dogs left now and the house is so much more peaceful !!!. Oscar the old boy is in his own little world and stands staring into space most of the time (bless him). Gilly is small enough to use the cat flap so she can go in and out to the garden when she needs to.
Janice had paused the Wedding on TV so I could see some of it. Did anyone see that poor girl going up the steps with the bridesmaids and pageboys when her dress blew right up and showed all her pants? !!!!! She will be mortified . I think she might have been a Nanny. I thought Eugenie looked so lovely . No veil ,just that stunning tiara/headress(not sure what it is called.

Gill you must have been besides yourselves with worry wondering where OH was. No wonder you had a headache. At least the car is fine again now and hopefully you will find anothe Craft fair soon for Sandra. There are normally lots around at this time of year leading up to Christmas.

Frank,I think Tony must be in denial about how poorly Val is. It does seem a shame he can't tell you what is going on.But I understand you not wanting to ask now after his rudeness to Ros the other week.

I guessed you would have really bad weather this morning Mel .I havent seen the news so don't know about any flooding or damage anywhere .James is driving to Chislehurst(Jess's Mums) tonight .Lord knows what time though as he is still at work :-S :-S. He left here for work at 7.15 this morning too. I think the weather is much better that way so hopefully driving conditions won't be too bad. Its going over that Dartford Bridge that could be a bit dicey if it is really windy.
(just read back over the posts and see I missed you saying Gill that you can go to the Craft fair tomorrow)

I have a job in the morning of giving the toilet in the main bathroom a good clean and all around too as we have a plumber from HomeServe coming again and it may mean the whole toilet being taken out :-S :-S. I hope not as that is a major performance .

Must go and call my naughty Thomas . I havent seen him since yesterday afternoon. He didnt come in last night and there was no sign of him this morning before we went.
I do know he has been around though as the food had been eaten in the Summerhouse. He is being a bit of a scallywag these days :-| (I hope it is ok to say that word ). It is so difficult these days to know what is right or wrong.

Morning all and Frank,

I went to bed at at 2.05am last night so not long before you posted. I must have dropped straight off as I don't remember laying there much.

Today is much the same as yesterday, very gusty and wet wet wet. We have this all day I think but tomorrow should be better so they say.

Yesterday I made a little neck purse that you can keep a crystal in. Its not that fancy and I did'nt bead it like the one I messed up. I'll send a pic later if I down load one. I hav'nt taken one yet.

The chickens have gone right off lay and I am only having about two eggs a day. I have barely a dozen for Emm today.

Frank

Frank Report 13 Oct 2018 11:56

Morning Mel, and all.

What a household we have here today. Ros has woken up and is unable to move her head. Her neck and right side of her head, are giving her so much pain. I laid in until 10.00 am not sleeping, just resting after a terrible nights rest.

We need some things for the weekend, so Ros will drive me to Towcester 4 miles on the quieter road. I will go and get what we want, while she sits in the car.

Simon called this morning to see how we are, and offered to come over, but I said NO we would manage. We have been invited to dinner on 25th November, when Trevor and Brian and wife's are going to visit for the day. The boys are my eldest brothers sons (JIM) who I haven't seen in years.

It looks like one or the other won't be able to come to my birthday bash, as they have been roped in to BABY SIT Sally's Grandchildren.

The wind has been blowing a gale here for the passed 24 hours, with showers now and again. Nice and bright at the moment, so will get off and do the shopping.

See you later.

Frank

Frank Report 13 Oct 2018 15:12

Madam is fast asleep, with her head supported by her hand. What she will feel like when she wakes is anyones guess.

She insisted on coming into Tesco, pushing the trolly and knowing where everything was, that we wanted. It made it easier for me, but i don't think she was very comfortable.

With Ros not being able to turn her head, I had to be the one who directed us home, saying when she could pull out of a road junction. Scary to say the least.

Neither of us have eaten today, she didn't want any breakfast or lunch, so I didn't bother, I am now feeling hungry so will get something shortly. What she will want to eat tonight is yet to be decided. I have the feeling she won't want anything, I will have to rustle something up from the fridge for myself. I hope this isn't going into tomorrow when it comes to a roast dinner. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-). If she does I will go to the pub and eat.

Going to sit in the conservatory, with the roundup of todays sport. That way I won't disturb her. See you later if I get back on here. I hope you all have a better afternoon than i am having. lol lol.

Poor Ros thats just not a nice thing to happen. Do you think she sslept in a funny postision (sp) or was hse in a draft at chior practice or is it the knitting. You can hold yourself funny sometimes when knitting and she's done a lot of that lately.

I do hope you both feel better tomorrow and can enjoy one of your nice roast dinners.

Won't it be nice if you can make it and see Trevor and Brian after all these years. You are certainly seeing some long lost rellies this year Frank. x

Its still blowing here and its suppose to drop to 20 miles an hour soon. I just watcched a blue tit on the bird table hanging on for dear life when a huge gust came along. Oh was outside at the time and when he came in he said he thought that was a 100 mile and hour gust. I told him about the blue tit. He said he wonders how they fly at all in this kind of wind.

Annx

Annx Report 13 Oct 2018 17:19

Afternoon All,

Poor Ros Frank. I wonder if it was to do with lying in the scanner? Sometimes the stiffness and aches don't appear straightaway. I hope she wakes up feeling better.

Mel, we have had the wind but no rain as yet, but it's been quite hot and about 23 degrees. Tomorrow it's supposed to drop to about 15 degrees so quite a change. The felt keeps peeling back more and more on our shed roof with the wind and lifting the bricks off that OH has put on it to hold it down. He's now put lumps of rockery granite we have at the back of the shed on it. It isn't worth refelting it as the shed and base need replacing.

I went to the beading workshop in my long shorts as Jenny keeps the place quite warm for the 'oldies' and much too warm for me. lol :-) The little beaded stars we have partly made are lovely and I must finish mine off so I can send a pic. I got some beads in other colours to make some more of them. I may get to make the little cracker I liked as well, as Jenny said she would send us the pattern and others we like once she has run the other workshops over the next 2 months. The workshops were full so we couldn't get on them anyway, but hopefully we should be able to work out making the patterns between us ourselves.

I also got the name of a knee surgeon, who comes highly recommended and certainly by two that were on the workshop. One was driving 3 weeks after their knee replacement and the other said she never had any problems. It was good to hear some good outcomes in case I have to go down that road. :-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 Oct 2018 17:27

Sorry to hear about Ros's neck Frank, I hope she's feeling a bit better now.
That was early in the morning for your post, did you manage any sleep in the end.

The poor blue tit Mel and they are only small aren't they? Let's hope the wind dies down for them.

The heating engineer came this morning and couldn't find a fault anywhere. It has been better since we changed the batteries so he thinks the reason the heating is turning itself on and off is because our control is picking up a signal from someone else's control in the street, so he's told us if it happens again to move the control to a different place in the bungalow. He did Google the price of a new one (which isn't cheap) so at least we know how much they cost if it does need changing in the future.

When the heating fella left we took Sandra to the craft fair, there wasn't anything there she fancied buying so we went into the garden centre. What a surprise there was for Sandra as they had started putting the Christmas trees and lights up all around the place, she was thrilled and we spent hours in there so she could have a good look around. I must admit it did look nice.

We called in a couple of charity shops on the way home Sandra bought herself some books and I found lots of Christmas bows and labels they were selling for 50p each. Sandra wanted some bows for her presents and I needed some more Christmas labels so we're both very happy. I have noticed that most charity shops are starting to sell new things now. I was hoping to find a tall plant stand but couldn't find one. We were going to go to more charity shops in the next road but the heavens opened so we came home. I couldn't believe how heavy the rain was coming down......it was bouncing on the ground it was that heavy. Luckily we were in the car by then.

We'd already got wet feet from inside the marquee the craft fair was in as the rain was running down underneath the marquee so there were big puddles everywhere. You should of seen us jumping over them as we were looking around. The stall holders didn't seem that bothered though, they said they were more bothered about the wind as it was pretty bad yesterday and they thought the marquee was going to get blown away. Good job we went today instead of yesterday in the end.
