Oh that is nice Mel! The pearls set it off and I can't believe how even your stitches are.......lovely!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Oct 2018 19:49

I had to laugh at G finding he has bags under his eyes Ann. Not so much for if he sees your wrinkles. I have plenty of those now too plus bags under my eyes some mornings. Mum suffered with watery bags under her eyes sometimes and I suppose I will inherit that.

Glad you like it and I think I may cut the back green off and bead the edge.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 7 Oct 2018 19:52

Just read your message and also laughed at your favorite pastime. I think I have that too. I can't even remember what I was looking for the other week either!!

Mum always used to say to me " I don't like this getting old" and now I knw just what she meant...........

Gillx Report 7 Oct 2018 20:21

I didn't get the email Mel, did you send it to my old address? I'd love to see it, could you send it to my new address please?

Yes, I had a smile at your comment on your OH noticing the bags under his eyes Ann. I see what you mean about the Gorilla glue on the doorbell, it would be hard to get it off should the bell need replacing, double sided tape should do the trick though.

So all you have to buy now Jane is a jacket, then you'll be all ready for the big day. Did you have a sleep in the end? I've been lucky and not slept at all today, which is unusual for me lately.....let's hope it carries on and I only sleep at night now.
Pleased to hear the antibiotics are starting to work. OH said he was starting with a sore throat so he'll probably get himself off to the doctors tomorrow, before he gets any worse.

There's going to be lots of people at your birthday Frank, it'll certainly be a birthday to remember. I bet the poppies Ros made look lovely, I'm sure no one will touch them, so I wouldn't worry there.

Thanks Mel it's lovely, your stitching is very neat. I can see why you want to keep it for yourself <3

Morning all,

Grey skies this morning but I hav'nt seen the weather forcast fo rtoday so I don't know if its going to brighten up or not.

I think I am going to to cut round the edge of the brooch with my pinking shears and see what that looks like. I can always cut that off if I want to put beads around the edge anyway.

I must do some ironing today as I have loads washed just waiting to be ironed and I shall feel better whenI know its done. I can put the washing machine on again!!

Frank

Frank Report 8 Oct 2018 10:25

Good morning Mel and all,

Iffy sort of night again, waking up on several occasions for no apparent reason, then lying awake for what seemed ages.

Haven't had my tablets yet. When I went to get them all 4 trays were empty. Ros is doing them now. We will have to put in for repeat scripts today as I am out of some tablets.

You seem to have been busy Mel, are you making presents for Christmas.

Yesterday afternoon Ros popped round to Valerie's with more Red will for mor poppy making. On her was back into the close she found some little So and So had tried to pull the poppies off the road sign. In doing so, unraveled the poppy, and left it on the road.I would love to catch the beggars.

We are going to get the slow puncture sorted today, as I had to blow it up again yesterday. We will also need a few bits from Tesco on the way back.

Looks a breezy sort of morning here, will see what it's like out when I go to the garage. Chilly I expect.

Ann Tell G I often look in the mirror, and think, I won't need to take any bags with me when I go shopping, I HAVE TWO UNDER MY EYES. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2018 10:58

No Frank not making them for presents but I think maybe the shop up the road will take some things and I give them someof the money like I do for the wreaths.

Afternoon all

Dull and not very warm here today.

Mr Grumpy has had someone around to cut down two conifers in his front garden, so guess how I was woken up this morning? Yes, by a chainsaw, needless to say I'm tired now.

OH has cut the lawns mainly so he could keep an eye on next door to make sure they didn't ruin our new front garden and I've changed the bedding and got on with some washing.

Just as next door stopped with all the noise, the neighbour over the back has just started cutting their back hedge so it's noisy again. These machines they use are very loud aren't they?

Sorry to see you had a bad night again Frank, lets hope tonight's a better one for you. How naughty... people pulling on the poppies Ros has made and she went to a lot of trouble to make them as well. Let's hope no more are vandalised.
I smiled when you said you had two bags under your eyes so you don't need any for shopping :-D :-D

My morning was interupted as Sheila our reader came and stayed for coffee and a chat. We are going to chime the bells on the 11 November and then there is a lunch in the village hall and its a donation one and the profits go to two Service charities, SSAFA and Walking with the Wounded.

Frank

Frank Report 8 Oct 2018 15:10

How nice is that Mel, more villages should take up on this. I may well have a word with one of our Parish Councillors for next year. Who does the organising and cooking ??

I put a notice on our village noticeboard regarding the vandalisation of the poppies. There has been a lot of comments from the villagers. I hope th lowlife who did it reads the comments, and are ashamed of themselves. But I doubt they have any respect for those who gave their lives for our freedom.

So you have the "LUMBERJACKS" around you Gill. At least it is now done and dusted.

We took the car to our TYRE MAN, it was a nail in the tread. He sorted it out and repaired the tyre. £10.00 so a lot cheaper than a new tyre.

Minted lamb steaks, new spuds, and various veg for tonight. It's all prepared, so I can sit with a bit of NAT. GEO. for an hour or so.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 Oct 2018 16:21

I'm pleased the tyre man sorted the car out Frank and not too expensive either.

I have washed up and am now going to do some IRONING if it kills me.

Afternoon All

Mel that is a lovely brooch . I think pinking the edges would be nice too.

Frank I doubt whoever wrecked the Poppy would have enough braincells to even think about looking on the Village Noticeboard. What a shame though afer Ros taking the tiem and effort to make it.
That is a lovely idea having a lunch at the village Hall on the 11th Nov Mel.Is this something done each year or a new idea?

Oh Gill I bet you were fed up with all that racket going on. Some of those chainsaw noises go straight through you. Fitz is always going on about the chap next door to him as he always seems to be out with some noisy bit of machinery.

The Gas man has just been to service the boiler and all seems fine :-D.
I seem to have every one of my joints giving me grief today and also my Psoriasis on my scalp and a couple of my fingers has flared up. Chris says it is will be post viral inflammation.

Ha ! bags under OH's eyes Ann. That did make me smile. Not because he has the bags of course ;-). But the fact he didnt see them with his glasses on :-D :-D.

Time to get moving and sort this chicken pie I am making.

Gillx

Gillx Report 8 Oct 2018 16:56

What a lovely idea to chime the bells then have lunch to raise money Mel. I've never heard of that before. Have you used your pinking shears on the brooch yet?

It's nice and quiet here now, but boy has it been noisy all day. Mind you we've made lots of noise in the past with one thing and another so I suppose I shouldn't complain, if jobs need doing then they need doing don't they?

Pleased to hear your boiler is fine Jane and you know it'll be okay now for the winter. Sorry to hear your joints are playing you up today. Maybe a hot soak in a bath will help, that's if you have a bath of course. I wouldn't be without mine, it's been a godsend when we've been doing the gardens.
I had aches in places I didn't even know I owned LOL ;-) ;-) ;-)
Hope you feel better soon.

Jane Report 8 Oct 2018 18:02

Oh I love my bath Gill. I tend to have one in the morning.
My Jacket I ordered arrived earlier and I am gutted. It is too small :-S :-S. I had a feeling it would be as it came from China. It is a lovely faux fur in Ecru white and wit h3/4 sleeves. The problem is it is non returnable(I hadn't realised that). So I will see if it is any good for Janice and if not it will have ot go on Ebay or something.
My next door neighbour has just started drilling something !!!!. It must be the day for noisy neighbours :-) Heaven knows what he is doing as it is almost dark !!!.

Thomas had a Rabbit yesterday afternoon :-S. and then when he came in about 8 he was wanting out again. But I kept him in until I could not stand the loud miaowing any longer so I got James to let him out at about 10.45. He is in the hunting mode. I saw him just now with a mouse down the garden then he came in and drank his cat milk and has gone again.

Chicken pie ready to go in the oven now. I just need to put the filo pastry on. The recipe is just for Chicken ,Leeks Spinach and Mushrooms but I always add thin sliced carrots and Asparagus.Plus some fresh Tarragon. It is so good and no need to do any extra veg.
I am looking forward tonight to seeing the 4year old children with the elderly people at the retirement village. I loved it the last time . It is reallt heartwarming to see how much enjoyment the residents get from spending time with the children and to see how much their health and energy improves.
We watched Dr Who last night and really enjoyed it. I only watched out of curiosity with it being a female Dr Who. I haven't seen it since I was a child hiding behind the settee.
I was nearly behind it again last night :-D :-D. I might be hooked now !.

Evening all,

It's been a nice dry day here with a good blow for the washing ,i stripped the bed and got it all dry and put away .

Mel the brooch is pretty ,i think using the pinking shears round the edge will look good .

Some people carn't leave any thing alone Frank ,i bet Ros was angry seeing the poppy pulled apart ,i hope they leave the rest alone .

What a shame about the jacket Jane :-( so now your on the hunt for another one .
I stated to watch the new Doctor Who too just to see the lady doctor but i didn't see much as son rang asking if they could all come round as they had a power cut ,it seems quite a few houses were off and at one stage our lights flickered too ,they stayed abut an hour as one of their friends rang to say the power was back on .

Gillx

Gillx Report 8 Oct 2018 19:25

It's a good job you had your power on Mandy or your son would of been sitting in the dark. Do you know what caused it?

Oh no Jane ,not being able to get your money back. I hope you manage to sell it on Ebay if it's not suitable for Janice. What are you going to do now? Have you found anything else you like?

It sounds like Thomas is back on the hunt, I guess all the noise from your neighbour isn't bothering him. Your chicken pie sounds nice.

I didn't watch Dr Who last night, but noticed it was a woman when I caught the last few minutes before Strictly. I was like you as a child and hid behind a cushion. I even did it again when I watched it as an adult, but that was a few years ago now. I'm recording Old people's home for 4 year olds. I watched the last series with OH and found it really good. I agree with you Jane about the health of the elderly improving with them being around the little ones.

It's the final of "The Circle" tonight, Sandra and I are looking forward to watching it, but it doesn't finish until 11.20pm and I'm tired, I hope I don't fall asleep before the end.

Annx Report 8 Oct 2018 20:45

Evening All,

I have recorded the programme about the 4 year olds too as we loved the last series. That reminds me, when we were walking out of where we had lunch yesterday past a table with some little ones, I heard the little girl pipe up, 'what's a honeymoon for?' It made me chuckle and I would love to have hung around to hear the answer to that one, but had to keep moving past!! :-D

Frank, how disrespectful some are damaging the poppy. There are always some that enjoy spoiling things. I see you have a plentiful supply of 'BAGS' too!! lol.

The lunch at the church sounds a good idea Mel. I've noticed the last year or two round here that the village churches are getting more use, what with Christmas tree festivals, putting on teas for the village open garden days. Will you and your OH be doing any of the bell ringing?

We are into village scarecrow displays around here just now and two villages have had their displays. I should imagine the scarecrows then come in handy as the 'guy' for bonfire night!

We went to Nuneaton today for me to take some things back to a shop. Oh it is becoming a sad looking place. Bedding piled up in a few shop doorways and we passed men of the road, some with cans of alcohol, others rolling their cigarettes. Sad to think they were once young children with all their lives ahead of them. They look so hopeless.

We went in a couple of opticians so OH could try on some glasses and he found a few pairs that might be ok, but wants to look elsewhere before deciding.

That cyst on your finger sounds nasty Jane and it will be good to get rid of it before the wedding. What a shame the jacket was too small and that you can't return it! It sounds so nice......so it should sell ok.

It sounds like your neighbour was as noisy as our new one Gill! Jobs have to get done as you say, but it's when they start before 8.00am that I don't like it! At least he didn't damage your hard work in the front garden.

It was lucky for them that your power was ok and didn't go off as well Mandy. I have done a load of washing to put out tomorrow. We had a lot of dark clouds today and I daren't risk putting any out!
