Not even going to try to catch up a couple of dozen pages! Haven't even looked past page one ... so much work not getting done ...

A question -- has Ancestry got some sort of free week on?

I'm getting full US census records access for 1860 and 1870 the two I've checked.

Take a vote and delegate somebody to send me a PM, if anybody knows the answer!

Dont know......But if you look at their blog it does not say they have...
There was one back in March, maybe they forgot to turn it off?

I just looked at the US census records on Ancestry and the following census have the word FREE against them:

1860 Slave
1860/70/80
1890 Veterans
Mortality Schedules 1850-85

Doesn't say if there is a time limit.

And no, I ain't pm'ing Janey cos I may get short shrift ;)

Ah, it didn't say "free" in the list I was looking at (on the co uk site).

Thanks, Cynthia -- looks like that may be permanent then.

Lovely weather here. Most of the snow is off the garden ...

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 7 Apr 2011 20:35

I intentionally misread it thank you and am very happy not to have to wear specs to see the the rubbish typed o here..
And why on earth would anyone want a PM when they can read the vote on here and not have all the hassle with getting into their inbox..?

Oh..of course, cos its...........Er Ladyship, and Er Ladyship expects preferential treatment?....She wishes...!

The garden here has flowers blooming in it and a mown lawn...Just wish the weeds would put themselves in my compost bin instead of me having to do it..
And I am definately making larger flower veg beds and slabbing some paths so I do not have a lawn anymore..I hate mowing grass,so it has to go..

You're welcome Janey.

Hi Sylvs.........seems like most of us are having lovely weather at the moment. Trouble is, I always want to do more washing so that it can dry outside!

Been having fun with the new familysearch site and found some more family marriages etc on there - really interesting.

Watching Lambing Live again.....not just lambs being born etc. but about what happens to the wool etc.......easy viewing.

Not only sheep but also cattle. Have just seen a herd of cows being tested to see if they are pregnant......long rubber glove method........the surprised look on the cows' faces is really funny. Oooh.....a cow has just had a caesarean........never seen that before.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 7 Apr 2011 21:00

They normally do that with the cow standing up I believe Cynth..
Called the vet one morn at 1 am with an emergency and she (very small young lady)had just returned from doing oneand was looking forward to some shut eye,so was not best pleased to have to meet me and my old man labrador at the surgery at 2 am..;)

Ooooooooo,my weekly hot date with James Nesbitt is just about to take place

Yep....standing up and from the side. Fascinating.

Dea, it really isn't that gory and it's interesting to see how farmers cope with things. They are really hardworkers and to be admired.

Now OH is watching one of those documentaries about life zillions of years ago...........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Gee

Gee Report 7 Apr 2011 21:19

Well, I seem to have over night stayers most nights at the moment.

Friends getting divorced (Rates JC) or family wanting to talk...which is good good good....but today I am in 'my time' and knackered and just wanted to shower....put PJs on and lay on sofa

Sighs.................

Dea

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 7 Apr 2011 21:38

Just can't find bronze age implements interesting to be honest. Mind you I am more observant where 'people' are concerned rather than 'objects' etc. It's the wau tje experts look at 2000 pieces of shattered stone and can tell us what it looked like a zillion years ago........really?? How interesting..........

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 7 Apr 2011 21:44

James Nesbitt!! What's he in now??? I must order No.1 to go download it, whatever it is.

Ginny, was the "JC" in "Rates JC" moi? ?

Dea

Dea Report 7 Apr 2011 21:45
