my friends has given me some lovely strawberry plants so I will be gardening too MC

I'm not vey good at gardening but she reckons I only need to plant, water and go. So wish me luck

I've never grown strawberries which is a bit daft because I love them.

I think you need to put some netting over them to stop birds scoffing them.

That reminds me of something which happened many years ago Toots.

We moved into a house which was about 14 years old and the previous owners had been very keen gardners and had 'worked' the soil - It was a large garden and we grew all our own fruit and veg for several years - absolutely BEAUTIFUL !!!

One year, I had bought a few too many onion sets and so gave some to my neighbour across the street, together with similar instructions to what you have been given.

She put them in and when I lifted mine, I told her to do the same - she queried this but did as she was told. I told her how to dry them off etc and I harvested almost 3 large sacks full to see me through to the next season !!

She then showed me what she had done with hers - the result was 1 (rather large, I have to admit,), jar of picked onions !! - It's all in the soil !!!

I should have mentioned but it was a bit of a last minute as the weather was good and I felt ok.

Went pets at home and got some bits for the cat, food and toys and she has been kicking them to death as they are full of cat nip.

Then round the parents for a few hours then to sainsburys because I fancied their chicken biriani....going to have to stop this popping into supermarkets ended up spending over £50 and only bought the curry the rest was clothes

We grow strawberries in pots MC.....bung em in...water and eat....simples.


Oh Dea......I thought you were going to say that the soil was so fertile because it used to be a graveyard or something.......lol.......plenty of body and all that....

Suffering now with my back but now I have used my wheelchair in shops I may go out more often. It was a pain on the scooter some shops were not disabled friendly and also felt you were in the way.

This is a new one because my other one was faulty and it makes so much difference...I am sure they gave me a better model as I had to take the other one back.

At least I got a new dressing gown as my old one had a big rip down the back bit embarrising as I dont wear anything in bed :O

Graveyard soil is the pits...I know as one garden I had was a piece of Hammersmith Graveyard once upon a time....Full of gravel and odd bits of bone ......

Good on ya getting out Ja...x ,about time...I am orf to Somerset on Weds...No 1 and No 2s birthdays on Weds(35 and 30 ...sigh,I am getting old even if I was a child bride) and Grandaughter in waiting will be here by 27th ,if not she is being dragged out on 27th....

Going to meet my new sister out of law on the Thurs night,she says she will have the wine ready..:)
Taking HIDs laptop so I can keep an eye on you lot..

I dont think I should have had a drink after all.....I remember now how maudlin it can make me....

Oh well at least I got No 1 son from first hubby and next 2 sons from the inbetweeners which has given me all those Eeeeeeeeeeeekspensive grandchildren... :D
