Just got back from our visit to our grandson.
It was just us and no 2 son today.
Lovely day.

A close friend of ours is getting an Honorary PhD at the university tomorrow

She was a graduate student with my then-boss back around 1970.

"then-boss" is our very best friend who lives on the Island, and whose wife celebrated her 80th last Ocotber.

So they are coming over for the ceremony. R himself has an Honorary PhD from the university so he will walk in the official procession. J was on faculty at the university from 1959 to 1985, so she is going to walk in the Faculty procession. Both will sit on the stage.

I've received a specal invitation from Nancy, and will sit in the "reserved" seating area.

OH of course will be doing his "job"

Then R, J and I have been invited to a special luncheon for Nancy (OH misses out on that because he has to "work" the next ceremony)

In the evening, we and R&J are taking Nancy, her husband, daughter and son-i-l out to dinner at our favourite but expensive restaurant ............... with the 4 of us sharing the bill for the 4 of them.

Tuesday evening is the President's Reception for Honorary degree recipients, so again Nancy has asked for special invitations to be given to us.


R&J are coming over on the ferry this afternoon, and staying at the hotel near us. Tonight, they are coming for dinner with us .......... plain roast dinner! And a chance to talk.

It's a busy couple of days.

Now I'm fuming as I spent quite a while last night pm'ing and replying on a thread even though it had been reported explaining her siblings had trees ect...now she has started another one aghhhhh

Maybe this long lost families must have implied join Genes reunited and your lost family will emerge from no where within 24 hours

Got too hot and sweaty at the party so out of the party duds

The lack of gratitude can leave one gob smacked at times.... I often wonder if some think that's your job Jax.

Perhaps just say I know the answer and I'm keeping it to myself for now.

I have popped in to leave a serving platter of smoked trout and Maori Bread towards the breakfast smorgasbord.... Have also left some bagels, smoked salmon, cream cheese and capers, plus a selection of preserves.

I may not be around later... Persie :-) :-)

I will just add a few 'extras' to the warmers, if I may>>>

Sausages, Grilled mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, fried bread. frittata.

I have done some porridge too as it is such a wet miserable day.

There - that should satisfy the 'hungry hoardes' :D

Stocks are 'short' in my larder too and it's a Bank Holiday so I will have to seek out a local supplier and get something in for the morning.

I will do tomorrow Cynths but any extra contributions will be welcome.
