Yes - unfortunately nowadays it is not a good idea to have a property left unattended!

I would love to have a 'second home' somewhere where I could spend time and relax and lend out to the family but I would be worried that I was not there to look after it !

My neighbour over the road goes home to India for 3 months every year but I go in almost daily and check that all is well. I am sure she would worry if I didn't.

I saved her house from major water damage last year when we had that terrible winter - her boiler froze along with all her pipes and water tanks.

Such a responsibility though!

Dea

it always is a worry, that's why we don't leave anything of much value ....... even the Coleman lantern was about 15 or 20 years old!

we do always worry that someone might have broken in

............... there was a minor break-in the first winter we owned the place, but we think that was someone looking for shelter during the winter. ..... no damage done

So this break-in was the first one since then

Pretty lucky.

I am indeed back from the Wilds Of the West Country and traffic was backing up on the road past the Old Homestead when I left ...GLASTONBURY Festival is about to start......Why do they call it Glastonbury when it is at PILTON.?????

Half the people who have never been before end up in Glastonbury looking for the Festival site, and then that town gets chocca as well..Stupid I call it..

I did not delete

Congratulations to Aunty Tooty.

Glad you are safe Sylvia.

I think the head of GR needs one of your letters Cyn, not been back to her thread.

Nope...Im not paying that much to to have a mud bath thanks...Can hear the noise of it from the Old Homestead anyway, glad its a little away from the Homestead, would hate it if it was any nearer.

I did most of the free festivals in my "slightly younger"days, not that I remember a lot of them:)never paid to get in anywhere yet and certainly not going to there....

Off to bed,I hate driving now and 3 hours of it puts me in a bad mood on top of playing happy families for a few days :-D

Good morning all,

Hope that you are all going along okay.

Spent all morning yesterday in the hospital waiting to see a specialist only to find out I need to have an operation on my ovary and might be off work for between 2 - 6 weeks...what a pain that will be. Sucks being a female sometimes!

LOL although I have picked up a disgusting cold and the specialist was really annoyed I kept my appointment, mind you if I didn't I would have had to wait at least another 3 months for one!

Thinks I betta make a coffee.. Afternoon here.

You are right Grace, women/teenagers problems... I have spent a few hours with my Granddaughter (14 in Aug) she had to have scans on her stomach, been in a lot of pain and could hardly move yesterday. I went around to her mother's work after she had the ultra sound done and we looked at the pics but we really didn't know what we are looking at.

There was a chap that got caught doing burglaries here Sylvia, it was quite some time ago... he never took anything... he would enter peoples places when they were out, cook himself breakfast, wash up and wipe bench down etc and then leave.

I don't know what happened to him, he might've been handy to have on this thread. I don't think anyone wanted to actually prosecute him.

Persie :-)

Fans likes a bit of raw onion with her gluten free, marmite and cheese now.. she really eats a stylish brekkie.

Choco Pops are called Cocoa Pops here... I'll pass on them.

I'll just have some sour dough to go with my Sausage hotpot I have cooked for dinner tonight, And a lemon and nut muffin for afters... I have not had a lemon and nut before, I usually put cream cheese or somesuch with the lemon in my muffins.

Well there you go Dea... I am sure there is plenty there for you to choose from.
