Grace
Hope the day goes well for your little one.
It's always difficult to know how to handle such happenings.
I had an only child as well, a girl. I went back to work 6 weeks after she was born (no long maternity leave 37 years ago!). She was with a babysitter for the first year, then we spent a year in Melbourne and she had to suffer me and her Dad sharing care.
When we returned to Canada, we hired a babysitter / housekeeper for a year (no day care for under 3 year olds:-( ), then she went to day care (I think our equivalent of your creche) until it was time to start full time school at age 6. The day care even took the 5 year olds to the nearest kindergarten, registering them all in the morning session.
She did a lot of learning about interaction with other kids in the day care, but still had more to learn when she finally went to school.
You do have to trust the day care leaders will spot bullying, and put a halt to it ......... even if that means the other child being asked to leave if lessons are not learned.

Thanks guys....
Persie that would have been a bit of a worry, no doubt then he has gone on the bigger and not better things...
Sylvia, yes it is a bit hard to know what to do when they are so little. They said she cried for about 20 minutes, not really from the pain but she couldn't understand why someone would hurt her..makes my heart break when I heard she was sking the room leaders that as she she is such a friendly, placid thing. All the kids seem to know her and play woth her well.
I rang before and they said she was her normal happy self and no issues from teh other child today. They do seem pretty spot on about handling it quickly. They rang the other child's parent's first then me, and then will look at some ways to help control the child.
Sylvia that is good they could take your daughter to kindergarten for you. Where she is now they have a kindy there so she can stay there until school, which is great as I was trying to work out how I could manage half days etc and still have to work. Our school age cut off is 5 in January so she will have to wait until she is 5 1/2 and be one of the older kids.
Persie the foccacia is really nice. It ends up being about 6-7 cm's high and I just brush mine with olive oil and put herbs and rock salt on and olives if the other half is going to eat it (i hate them so I try to avoid where possible!). The inside ends up all fluffy and light and it makes a lot of servings when you cut or pull it apart. LOL now am making myself want to go home and make it. Maybe on the weekend! :-)

I had two and went back to work 3 months after 1st one but I only did it for 6 months as it was too much with travelling and paying SIL to look after her. I worked it out that after paying out for child care and train fare I was left with £50 a week so I did a part time local job instead and I saw my child.
Second child 5 years later... finished work at midnight and she was born nine hours later...back to work 4 days after..ran a pub at that timeand I had a ****hole of a husband. did'nt have to pay for child care with that one but I now feel they had an awful life living in a pub parents working 24/7.
Been busy today on living rellies board..mainly saying search trees, but I am sure it will get better :-D

No Jax, you just did the best you could for your children, I am sure at least they knew they were loved and you were working hard for them!
LOL I finished work went home and next morning (supposedly my first day of maternity leave) at the usual time I would get up for work my waters broke and I had her later that day. I had three months off but it went so quickly and have been back at work full time since.
Yes have seen all your comments, hope people are a bit mroe appreciative than they have been in the past!

Some time ago I helped someone on a thread and sent a pm with a recent birth detail....she replied askng me how I was related before she opened her tree to me.
I replied with the normal I am not related ect and ever since she has been sending me look ups by pm for some strange reason, today she sent me a message saying I have now opened my tree to you??? maybe because I done it for her :-D

People are funny...they must think that you are one of the paid people Jax! and don't need to be thanked.
Our year used to April then they put it back for some reason to January. We still have districts that apply here for public schools, you can only really go to those in your zone.
Have a lovely afternoon or night, I am finishing up early am to Dr's so won't be on probably until tomorrow.
Cheers all

I have just had a very nice thankyou re finding living relatives here in NZ.. It started out with the older generation and then the daughter disappeared from the electoral roll, and if she was born less than 80 years ago I would not be able to find her death unless I checked the Libraries' microfiche in the CBD. I suggested she may have married, suggested a couple of names and yes, but that was short lived because I did find her death and her husbands by searching cemetery records. They had hardly been married and they both died within a short time of each other/ they had got married a bit late in life but turns out they had two children.. and these children started out their lives more or less with their grandparents. I thought they might be twins (I must check up on that) I said well next thing is our Old Friends site, Facebook and phonebook. Gave her a lead for what might have been the granddaughter... however she found the grandson. Below what she sent me
"Just to let you know that I have found xxxxxx John xxect!! I wrote to a few addresses from White Pages and there was an x John xxetc living in Napier. As his parents and grandparents married there and his parents lived there for a short while after their marriage I thought it could be possible. He emailed me back and seemed delighted I had got in touch. I'm now waiting to hear back from him again and hopefully he will give me more information. He goes under the name John!
Thank you so much for all the help you have given me with finding this family and all their various records."
I thought that was rather nice..
I haven't heard from another one whether she made contact.. though she thanked me at the time and said she then had to get up the courage to get in touch. I feel like calling the person here and checking whether she did..LOL.. Bettter don't do that!!
Some of our guff is so darn difficult to suss out. My OH is amused when I bus off to the library to suss out the microfiches for people. It mean's they wait and then when I have a few I go shopping in the history/genealogy room.

The BMD is so limited, in fact one of the best ways is to google the person's name, often that will lead you to the right website etc.
If it is one of my ancestors it will tell you to contact me re Tribal pages LOL. Or in some cases direct you to a cousin in the UKS Family Tree website... he only goes in there once a year and does fix ups and additions etc.

Our children start school in the September of the year in which they turn 6.
They start kindergarten in the September of the year in which they turn 5 ..... it was only half a day, but 2 years ago the powers-that-be decreed that all children should go to full day kindergarten. I think next year is the year when it will be fully effective.
I started school at age 4!

Grace,
I am surprised that your little girl did not tell you herself who it was who bit her. My grand-daughter, when it happened to her told just about everyone she came in contact with for weeks after ........ 'Lewis bit me" !!!
Same goes for little grandson - he wasn't bitten but I do know that "Tommy pushed me and was pulling my coat"......... This happened months ago but he still tells me about it every time I ask him about his Nursery :-D
Anyway, I hope your little one has recovered from the shock now.

Morning all and thanks for brekkie Sylvs......needed that coffee this morning.
Re the biting episode. My daughter used to bite my hand and her own hand when she got really frustrated or cross about something. It wasn't until she was diagnosed with Asperger's many years later that we realised that was her problem. She had difficulty in dealing with her frustration and trying to express how she felt, so she bit into her hand. I do hope she never bit anyone else!
Really wet and windy outside .....not at all summery. Going to see my poorly friend this afternoon but can't see I will be taking her out in this weather. Not worth the risk of her getting cold and damp.
ja...x - I can see thee and me going round in circles on the FL board!
You'll post about searching trees.
I'll notice they haven't returned so will send them a message.
They will then, hopefully, return to see your reply.
Then they will open their trees to both of us.....lol :-D :-D
We can but try.

Do you buy those shower body scrubs, the ones that are a crunched up net ball?
I get them from Sainsburys and they are £1.50 each. We have one each and I change them about every /3 weeks
I pass Home Bargains on the home from work and popped in just to have a look around. Shower scrubs .29p.....nail brush .35p and all the other bathroom stuff about half the price of Sainsbury
It's my new fav place :-D
PS it was full of scrubbers though ;-)

Sheeesh, you only just discovered one of those sort of places Ginns??? Wilkinsons/Poundworld/Bargain box /Super saveand so on,all far cheaper than the big store names but you have to take what they offer as most are all end of lines ...
If you have only just found a store like that you obviously dont NEED to shop at one cos you are minted...
Havent used any other store for that sort of stuff for years, cant afford to....
