Yes...
My mother had a masectomy and she did really well for a year or two and then a lump formed on the scar. Her first cousin, when she was being operated on she had no idea when she went down to the theatre, was she having a lumpectomy or two. Returned after having a double masectomy. We went to visit her and OH said ' They just did it so you would not lean to one side or fall over' ... she got the giggles and he said ' musn't titter.'
So my family history is such that I have to keep myself monitored.

You certainly do have to keep monitored!
I had a mammogram, a second one a week later, a lumpectomy 2 weeks later, and then a mastectomy 2 weeks after that
I was lucky ...... they decided I didn't need any further treatment as there was no sign of it having moved into the lymph nodes
That was 1995.
I think the worst was having to have a fine wire localization done before the lumpectomy ...... the cancer was really deep, the surgeon couldn't feel it, so they had to insert a very fine wire leading from the surface into the centre of it.
I sat for literally about an hour with that boob squished in between the plates (turned sideways) while the technician tried to get the wire in place, through a hole in one of the plates and then into me.
They got it in after about 30 minutes, then had to get me out of the plates .............. the wire slipped.
So back in I went!
It wasn't held quite as tight as for a mammogram, but not far off!

Yikes ... Squirm :-(
On my father's side his mother died of bowel cancer, his brother died of bowel cancer and my father had two bowel cancer operations... He bounced back though and had both hips replaced.. concrete on one side and metal on the other.. and lived to 93 and a half.... only problem was each time he had an anaesthetic a little bit more of the brain cells deteriorated.

hmmmmmm
it's OH who has brought colon cancer into our line.
He's had it, his father died of it, and so did his father's mother
Our daughter and his sister's 3 children all have to start having tests and possibly colonoscopies when they reach 40.
My breast cancer was not apparently the inherited kind, but the "aged" kind, so daughter has probably been spared early testing
Having said that, she does have 2 lumps that are believed to be benign.
She was scheduled to have biopsies done when she found she was pregnant, and they decided not to do anything until after she stopped breast feeding, and the tissues went back to "normal".

Go Ginny!!! :-D
And :-P for those people who find this chat offensive!
Ouch for both you Sylvia and Persie! My sister has had to have quite a few cysts removed as has my mum luckily nothing further...
Only things that run in my family on both sides seem to be heart disease, diabetes and glucoma and PLENTY of cancers...which I now have glucoma tests every two years because my mum has developed it and they are horrible...nothing like feeling you can't feel your eyes move but you can still see everything!
I would hate to have to show a doctor the family tree medical history! :-)

There really are some sad people amongst the GR membership. Just what do they think they are achieving by reporting innocuous threads such as this? They really must have a weird outlook or perhaps an over active self importance gland. It is truly pathetic.
If the person who has referred the original post is reading the thread here is a piece of advice. Seek psychiatric help immediately as you appear to be suffering from some form of mental disorder.

Well, am I SO glad to be out of bed this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nasty Horrid Scarey Nightmares all night, terrible painful cramps in my legs and foot kept me awake half the night though so I missed some of them, thankfully.
Then, my husband turned and 'elbowed' me in the eye ! :-0 - I am going to have to start sleeping in protective goggles !!!
I came on here and the right hand side of the screen was all blurry (That's the eye he hit me in) :-S, Luckily it was just the case of a large finger print smearing the lense of my glasses :-D
Still, it looks like a lovely sunny day here.
Phew!.... Lead me to that lovely breakfast and then I will catch up on the last couple of pages on this thread - you have been chatty again!
I see we are up for review again !!!!!!!
Back in a little while.

Dea....it will be ages before you can catch up on this lot's nattering from last night. I think they have been passing the time in the doc's waiting room! :-D
Thank you for breakfast Sylvs.
RR'd again! Hey, do you think somebody actually BELIEVED I have been married 60 years and thus thought it was an infringement of my privacy to tell others...?
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Wrong dear person. If I had been married for 60 years, I would have been an infant bride, 'ne'er mind a child bride!
Or, perhaps, they have an aversion to lamp posts, or mammograms or helping people with their genealogy problems or are simply jealous of something on here.
Seek help dear person.
Maybe they lead a lonely and sad life and want to be included in such a chatty group.
Welcome dear person. Anyone is welcome on here.
Had a lie -in this morning - well, half an hour later than usual anyway! Bumbling around before taking daughter to a hospital appointment this afternoon.
Oh yes....Grace....your little problem person.....I know I have it on the brain, but have autistic tendancies been ruled out??

Forgot you wouldn't be able to change it Gins......oh well, not to worry.
Hopefully Phil will sort something out.
When I renewed my car insurance in May, I received £25 in vouchers because I renewed before my due date.
Yesterday, another £25 of vouchers appeared so, being the good girl that I am, I phoned and told the company. After a brief chat with a colleague, I was told to keep them as it had been their error!
So then I had £50 vouchers to spend...... :-D
Took OH to HMV this morning and got a set of 'Lewis' dvds for starters....now waiting for the latest series of New Tricks to be issued.......beginning of August....whayhay...
Nice little anniversary present.... :-D

Just a thought.... I do have the odd one.
Persie
But,but, but I thought they ALL odd thoughts from you..Still trying to find one that is NOT odd :-D
Make sure they do a good job Jax,crack that whip and keep em at it..!
Teenage boys? Hormones raging and all that. Ask him straight out (in private)why he behaves as he does and maybe he will tell you? Dont talk to him as a child but as a grown up male(hard I know)but I have found that talking to teenage boys as an adult got me further into their mindset than talking to them as a youngster... Wavelength has to be found and his deeper interests (other than just discovered girls!) need to be prised out of him if poss.....
3 sons,3 stepsons and all their friends showed me a bit about teenage boy thinking... They do like to be talked to as an equal, you need to be wily and not let them know you are STILL the one in authority but give them some responsibility and I find that worked pretty well. Plus telling em there was little they could do ,and more, that I had not already done before them .. :-D
