Don't worry about old Robert - he was already dead when I brought him.

Gins - if you go to certain parts of Newcastle on a weekend night you'd think it WAS Essex!

Sorry I was'nt around much last night, someone locked me in that broom cupboard...but at least I had my vodi with me :-D

Did I hear someone taking the Mick out of Essex birds this morning??.

We got a couple of parking permits this morning as they are holding a part of the Olympics just down the road and the are going to have a practice at the end of the month...what a waste of money

Who took the mick out of Essex girls Ja..x just you let me know and I'll give em an Irish kiss

Permits so you can park? Hey, why dont you sub let your house while the games are on, you'd get a fortune for it

TootyFruity Report 2 Jul 2011 13:59

On the island we have parking permits all year round.

When TT is on we can rent out rooms or our entire homes on a scheme called homestay. All income from the homestay is tax free for those two weeks. I think it also applies for grand prix weeks but unsure. Quite a tidy sum can be made

jax Report 2 Jul 2011 14:02

:-D :-D

I dont think my landlord would be too happy if I sub let it.

Think its only a couple of days pretty boring event unless you like bikes, that was one of the reasons we went expoloring yesterday to see where this was going to take place.

The parking permit is for a sunday, I would not have thought it would be a problem anyway...but what do I know

MC better not tell my OH that I am dead she will want to collect the Insurance

TF My cousin lives there and is really into the racing however she works in the OR at the hospital and from that aspect doesn't like it when TT is on

I'm not so keen on the accident aspect either but having spoken to some of the riders who have had near death accidents and taken over twelve months to recover only to get back on their bikes and enter the TT again, I now put it down to their choice and if the island no longer hosted the race they would just go somewhere else.

There are also other races on the island which don't get the same publicity but still have casualties, the southern 100. 11-14 July and the Manx grand prix 20 Aug - 2 Sept.

It's a great place for motor sports we even have a Manx rally for the cars.

Those coast roads in the Isle of Man look pretty hairy....seen Jeremy Clarkson driving along them on Top Gear. Then I am a bit of a wuss when it comes to stuff like that.
