I have just eaten my dinner but I could follow that up with lemon yoghurt and tayberries...

Sorry about my behind, I am in Sylvia's freezer getting out the blueberry ice -cream to go with that....

Gracie, my eldest is 42 and she grew up on Sesame Street.. it has been around for such a long time. I remember once where I was working I somehow mentioned Benjamin Franklin flying his kite and discovering lightning and this young guy said he was on Sesame Street.....lol...

Sorry I missed the party... thanks Dea for sending all the goodies over, the courier that brought it over was licking his chops... so think he had been dipping into the dip on the way.

That is what I like Cyn, optimism. ;-)

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 1 Sep 2011 13:19

Optimism paid off Jonesey! No great change - just the natural 'ageing' process.

Couldn't help myself though....the young optician was very serious as he explained that, just like your body shape changes with age, so your eye changes shape too. My rapid retort was "You mean my eyes go fat TOO????" Poor lad didn't know what to do with himself......lol

Gins.......Have already sent John a message a couple of days ago - he shared his tree twice and then thanked me for my suggestions. Maybe you could advise him to print my guidelines out and follow them. ??

~~~~~~~~~~~ to Syvls....take care and hurry back.
For Mr J and Mr R.
I asked my boss if I could leave work a couple of hours early to go shopping with the wife.
"Not a chance!" he said.
"Thanks, boss. I knew you wouldn't let me down."
Hi all found this new gt uncle today as mum mentioned she had this uncle Sidney found his death during ww2 and a marriage on freebmd a few months earlier
Marriages Jun 1944 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
CONNELLAU Alice A Simpson Essex S.W. 4a 414
SIMPSON Sidney Connellau Essex S.W. 4a 414
Think she may have remarried in 1949 but to a Jones so will not follow that one up just yet
Problem is I cannot see this marriage on ancestry nor can I find her anywhere before marriage Sidney was 24 when he died so maybe she was around the same age?her middle name was Adelaide according to CWGC so could someone see if they can find her please
Jax,
Don't be put off by the surname Jones. Whilst I agree there are more than a few of us out there at least our surname is rarely mistranscribed. ;-)
jax
jax Report 1 Sep 2011 18:52
Oh yes I agree Jonesey but as I have no idea when she was born maybe hard finding a death...then again she may still be alive?
Cannot find anyone with this Connellau name maybe thats mistranscribed?
Mum said she remembered him because he gave her a bar of toffee but she was only 5 when he died so he could well have been on leave in 1944 and married this woman before dying at Arnhem?
Hmmmm...common as muck you Jones'
You need an interesting name....something Irish would be good Jonesey/Ja..x
Jonesey
Jonesey Report 1 Sep 2011 19:08
Jax,
As they did not marry until late in WW2 I did wonder whether she may have been married, perhaps widowed earlier. I have looked for a marriage of a male Connellau pre 1944 but nothing in England or Wales. Next thought was an unusual surname, so any others sharing it but no BMD record of the name 1900~1943 so maybe she was not British. The origin of the name appear to be Irish or French.
Also checked the death records for Alice Adelaide. Based purely on the location Wandsworth this one looked an outside possibility:
Name: Alice Adelaide Beckwith
Birth Date: 21 May 1914
Date of Registration: Mar 1984
Age at Death: 69
Registration district: Wandsworth
Inferred County: London
Volume: 15
Page: 1184
It may well be a case that only a copy of the 1944 marriage certificate might provide further clues.
Gin, :-P
Thanks Jonesey not sure about wandsworth but you never know?
It is hard getting info out of my mum, she says she does'nt know anything and the next minute comes up with something else lol
New info is she thought they had a couple of children but not sure if they were his and the family did'nt have anything to do with her after he died...so she could well have been married before in some other country perhaps? but why cant I find the marriage anywhere else?
